I can’t understand people like you man. D2 vanilla was made for your mindset and it killed Destiny for everyone. You want hand outs, you want max power day 1. WORK for it you ungrateful and jaded millennial. Sometimes you don’t get a participation trophy. Just because mommy and daddy handed you everything your entire life doesn’t mean you get to cry like a bitch when someone tells you no.

what killed d2 vanilla was lack of content, the game was less full than fallout 76, it had a basic story that made zero sense, and was missing more than half of the content that vanilla d1 had. them making the game casual only killed it for the try hards, they could have kept it casual but they would have needed massive amounts of content to compensate, so they chose to cater to the try hards and just up the grind instead of giving you anything meaningful to grind. that is what killed d2

No one minds grinding in a video game if its fun, after all we aren't here to feel like we are at work doing our job. I personally didn't, and wont, be getting the annual pass as in my mind its a rip off considering I have already paid for the expansion, (which this isn't), so I don't feel inclined to pay for more content inside the content I already paid for, if that makes sense. I have played many mmo's and I don't just mean looter/shooters and the grind is always part of it, but done well and made to be fun its all good, many times I have teamed up with friends to go and grind for loot or resources. I don't feel a lot of the grind in D2 is actually fun, not like the old days in D1 when there were players everywhere farming stuff. I get why people are upset, they paid for more content, something fresh and new, and reasonably expect to have access to it immediately after purchase only to find it isn't available to them. If you are honest and take an objective look its obvious Bungie/Activision is trying to hook people into a long term investment given what's around the corner. The psych of it is "I have paid for the content, I should stay and play it", like people that pay a subscription in a F2P game, they are more likely to stay, even when others have left, simply because they feel obligated to, due to them having paid in advance for something. This doesn't work on everyone though and there is a line that if it gets crossed people will cut their losses and move on. Its also quite obvious, to me anyway, that Bungie/Activision is scrambling for dollars before a big chunk of the playerbase leaves to go play Anthem, the timing of BA and the free D2 leading up to it isn't coincidental. Trouble is that due to previous bad decisions they don't have anywhere near the playerbase numbers they did before so revenue is less and as a consequence development is no where near as good as it could be or has been. They burned too many paying players before. In order to keep a decent bottom line they need dollars so where can they get it, from the remaining playerbase, how do they do that, they start pushing extra sub-par content for bucks, but its a spiral downwards. I have seen all this before in other mmo's. Look at the Star Wars movie franchise as a great example, they will always sell Star Wars stuff because its Star Wars stuff and there will always be a clique of fans willing to pay but as time goes by and they foist cheap garbage and sub par movies on the fans, the numbers drop. Forsaken was a great attempt to revitalise the Destiny brand but in my mind, too little too late, they had already lost too many loyal, paying players through bad decisions and development. I am saddened by it as Destiny 1+2 (more D1 than D2) has given me many hours of fun but it just feels like I'm just going through the motions now, it doesn't excite me anymore and I too will be jumping into Anthem.

But putting in the time doing stuff I have already been doing for months is not what I would call a fun use of my time. And that is what this is about - not respecting your consumers time.

No need for max power on Day 1. The first forge could have been set at under 600, a ‘starter’ forge to get people involved from Day 1. Then progressively increase the forge power as access to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th forges open up. Content for everyone.

D1 was more fun and still is. There’s a difference between challenging and earning rewards, and the game just being frustrating and annoying and for the most not fun anymore. D1 respected your time more. D2 doesn’t. I agree D2 Vanilla had more hand outs, but get serious, if it had more “Depth” in its content, it wouldn’t have mattered. The “hand outs” made the game stale Bc the depth was Nonexistent. Gotta be a middle ground.

Thing is nobody is mastering anything just wanting to keep doing new stuff before mastering the old stuff. I don’t see many with titles under their names or going on streaks in gambit or crucible just want to keep playing new stuff without finishing old. Just play and have fun there are dozens of games out there pick more to play master old raids. Just like people wanting to make 6 figures without the work or education that others out in to get there

The thing about that is the [b]option[/b] If you'd like to enjoy the old content and master it, you should be able to If you want to enjoy the new content, having paid for it, you should be able to. The latter isn't available, therefore Bungie isn't even giving us the option.

I'm a 44 year old father of 4 who works 55 to 60 hours a week. I put 2500hrs into D1 and easily 1000 in D2. This is terrible design. Firstly D1 was a better game. Second this is OBJECTIVELY a terrible progression system. Games should let you progress IN new content not TO new content. This isn't generational. Its good design and bad design. Leave aside that the forge is actually an extremely weak activity.

Good for you bud. I’m 29 and work about 50 hours a week. No kids, maybe in the future. My generation being a bunch of cry babies is so damn triggering. You and I understand the concept of shutting up and doing it because it’s what needs to be done. They cry about it to have it changed and they refuse to just deal with it

Okay, let me water it down for you sweetie. The raid was available on 9/14 right? I couldn’t play it at the time because I wasn’t a high enough level. So what did I do? I leveled up so that I could play it!!!!! “We just want to play the content” So then level up and play it! Simple concept, that simple minded people can’t understand.
