Like you said, I must grind another week of [i]old content.[/i] The difference between Last Wish and Volundr forge, bud, is that we had not only a content drop with new campaign missions, two new patrol zones, new exotic quests and an entire new game mode to chew on, but we also had a week to prepare for it. You don't release an activity that is 30 light levels above what used to be max without any time to prepare.
