Fanboys defenses, and why this shit is garbage and inexcusable.
Defense #1:

Yes, it's been out for seven hours, and the only DLC related thing I've done is kill powerful enemies with power weapons for quest steps. The main meat of the DLC, which is the forge, requires a power level that will take at least another week or two of milestones to even comfortably participate in.
I don't want to do the same shit I've been doing for the past 2 months to play the new content. Just imagine if the first story mission of forsaken launched at level 50 with a 500 recommended light.
I came into this update thinking I was going to grind the forge and get some new gear. Turns out, I have to grind old shit still just to even [i]consider[/i] grinding the forge.
Defense #2:

See, I didn't pay 10 dollars for black armory. I paid [b][i][u]THIRTY.[/u][/i][/b] YOU HAVE TO PAY 30 DOLLARS OUT OF THE GATE TO PLAY BLACK ARMORY. AND THIS IS WHAT WE GET FOR PAYING THIRTY DOLLARS. THEY ARE NOT SOLD SEPERATELY. My friend, who got the DLC this morning, dropped THIRTY DOLLARS to play this wack ass update. There is NO EXCUSE.

Yes, the -blam!- it is an expansion. You have to pay money for additional content that expands the game for you and adds new activities. That is DLC. It is an [i]expansion.[/i] A terrible one.

More content [i]later,[/i] doesn't excuse what we have [i]now.[/i] What we have [i]now,[/i] is an activity that barely anyone is able to complete because for some odd reason, they wanted to set the light level to 15 above what the max was [i][b]yesterday.[/b][/i]
By the time the raid and the second forge come out, most of us will just be nearing the point where we can actually beat the [i]first[/i] damn forge.
If I drop 30 dollars on something, I expect to be able to play the content it brings. I can't do Black Armory Forges, which was the main -blam!-ing selling point. I'm not high enough yet. I have to keep running the same milestone hamster wheel that I've been running since last expansion until I am. That isn't good. That isn't fair.
The verdict is: If you haven't bought the annual pass, then DO NOT BUY IT UNTIL:
*They lower the light requirements of the forge and allow people to start playing and grinding what they just -blam!-ing paid for.
*They sell the expansions separately for 10 dollars.
*Until every content rollout up til March has released.
This literally feels like a free update with a 30 dollar coat on.
Keep in mind, this cost more than Rise of Iron from D1. Let that sink in.
This is unacceptable. I don't think Destiny has ever put this much of a bad taste in my mouth.

It is sad that a game I liked and played as much as destiny turned into a d2 which has sworn me off frome EVER pre ordering bungLe products. Just checking in after updates to see if d2 is worth playing again... Apparently not

My main issue is the power level grind. I like grinding for guns, I could give a crap about some number on my emblem. I wouldn't mind if the power level grind was not as long, but it is too much as it stands. In D1 I did all the raids, now I have yet to do the raid. Mostly because after the month long grind to get high enough to do it, I lost all motivation to get a group together.

I get where y'all are coming from now. You were expecting the able to play that egc day one of the dlc considering you are at or close to Max light. And I fully understand if that is what you are looking for. But if you were expecting mission, and a full story? You tricked yourself and have no reason to be mad. Especially if you paid $10 for either the emotes or ornaments....this is a $10...🤔 Can't call it a dlc. Whatever, in this content (when you are able to access it) you are kinda getting more that a freaking emote or ornament...but you shouldn't have bought it. Its about value.

9 RepliesWow, I've not really bothered doing the forge thing yet (I mean I have got to the part of killing 25 powerful enemies, but nothing further) and from the mood of the internet this is a common feeling. It seems Bungie gathering all the streamers to their shows hasn't quite gone the way they thought. Escalation protocol - catered to the elite on release. Lunas Howl/Redrix Claymore - catered to the elite. Black Armoury - catered to the elite on release. Make a game for the few, lose the crowd. Well done guys.

The horde mode can be completed if everyone is At least 606 preferably 608. It was already done with 2 608’s and a 601. Get your thunderlord for red bars, just to clear the space around the yellow, shotgun for yellow bar scions. Shotgun the machete yellow bar together. When the yellow bar legionaries come out, usually in groups of two, nuke them with a high damage super. Blade barrage, chaos reach etc. cycle orbs. Most importantly stay mobile. Staying in one spot will generally get you killed. If you’re going to camp when the boss spawns you should atleast have one well of radiance.

I didn’t even finish the first stage of the Forge, yet I had a blast with my clanmates laughing our butts off horsing around as usual. In one day only doing half the milestones I hit 604. We’ll smack the Forge by the end of the week and keep it moving. We would have a riot playing Farming Simulator. All these games are going to be what you make it. I get it; it’s not for everyone. But try not to take it so serious man.

The game is just generally outdated, beautiful environments to be sure but ultimately they'll always feel like movie sets as opposed to living breathing worlds. The original vision of destiny was just a vision but it is what had me so interested and hooked into this franchise up until recently when I logged in and just stared blankly at the start screen and thought what is the point? Sure looking cool in front of other players and raiding can be incredible but ultimately that's about all it'll ever amount to in appeal for me personally. It'll never really be what had my imagination running wild over 4 years ago about what this game could be. There's many factors for this, Activision being probably the biggest as they want a sequel set up model. You can bet they'll be a Destiny 3, and the cycle will repeat. Untapped potential, as fun as this game can be it really is only scratching the surface. This Dlc is just kind of another example of that, it sounds great having a continuous stream of stuff to apparently do but this simply isn't engaging enough on the first day to warrant applause. Edit: my phone sucks, ignore shitty paragraph spacing.
