Defense #1:
"It's only been out for seven hours. Why are you angry that you have to level up? It's like that every DLC."
Yes, it's been out for seven hours, and the only DLC related thing I've done is kill powerful enemies with power weapons for quest steps. The main meat of the DLC, which is the forge, requires a power level that will take at least another week or two of milestones to even comfortably participate in.
I don't want to do the same shit I've been doing for the past 2 months to play the new content. Just imagine if the first story mission of forsaken launched at level 50 with a 500 recommended light.
I came into this update thinking I was going to grind the forge and get some new gear. Turns out, I have to grind old shit still just to even consider grinding the forge.
Defense #2:
"The annual pass was only 30 dollars, that means each update was roughly 10 dollars each. What did you expect?"
See, I didn't pay 10 dollars for black armory. I paid THIRTY. YOU HAVE TO PAY 30 DOLLARS OUT OF THE GATE TO PLAY BLACK ARMORY. AND THIS IS WHAT WE GET FOR PAYING THIRTY DOLLARS. THEY ARE NOT SOLD SEPERATELY. My friend, who got the DLC this morning, dropped THIRTY DOLLARS to play this wack ass update. There is NO EXCUSE.
Defense #3
"This isn't an expansion, though. Don't treat it like one."
Yes, the -blam!- it is an expansion. You have to pay money for additional content that expands the game for you and adds new activities. That is DLC. It is an expansion. A terrible one.
Defense #4
"It's just the first day. More is coming later on."
More content later, doesn't excuse what we have now. What we have now, is an activity that barely anyone is able to complete because for some odd reason, they wanted to set the light level to 15 above what the max was yesterday.
By the time the raid and the second forge come out, most of us will just be nearing the point where we can actually beat the first damn forge.
If I drop 30 dollars on something, I expect to be able to play the content it brings. I can't do Black Armory Forges, which was the main -blam!-ing selling point. I'm not high enough yet. I have to keep running the same milestone hamster wheel that I've been running since last expansion until I am. That isn't good. That isn't fair.
The verdict is: If you haven't bought the annual pass, then DO NOT BUY IT UNTIL:
*They lower the light requirements of the forge and allow people to start playing and grinding what they just -blam!-ing paid for.
*They sell the expansions separately for 10 dollars.
*Until every content rollout up til March has released.
This literally feels like a free update with a 30 dollar coat on.
Keep in mind, this cost more than Rise of Iron from D1. Let that sink in.
This is unacceptable. I don't think Destiny has ever put this much of a bad taste in my mouth.

No defence from me and I’ve put the hours in over the yrs and I cannot defend this shit show
-
Well said
-
I feel this in my soul though..
-
luckily someone bought my game and pass for me. i would be fuming if i paid for it. still am pissed off though. nothing worse then doing the new quest step only to hit a pl wall and cant even -blam!-ing do the DLC. bungie is in straight -blam!- mode.
-
I was abit skeptical about this Dlc anyway but thought I'd give it ago but honestly I couldn't believe what they had done. And the elitist who defend it are more stupid than they realise tbh. Called it bullshit after trying several times and not getting over 10 orbs on round one without the time running and played something else instead. Joke
-
I seriously wanted to try some of the new stuff, but looks like I have to mindlessly do powerful rewards again...
-
Destiny 2 has been heading in a more grind oriented direction since warmind; Personally, I love it, but I can understand why some people wouldn't. To me, and the games I'm used to playing like PoE (An ARPG) and Warframe, this kind of grind is basically nothing. It can be accomplished in 2 weeks; I've spent 2 months with less return on investment. Currently, the Destiny 2 community is effectively at war with itself; And seemingly no compromise is in sight.
-
The only viable fix to lower the light level will only piss everybody off in two weeks when they are bored again.

Good post. What would have made all the difference is if just the Machine Gun had been available to get on launch day, and the rest of the (weak) handful of weapons were available over the next months. But still, looking at the new weapons/slots in the Collection, there is barely anything here. Unless more is planned to be added over the weeks (most likely not), how can this game last without these kinds of bullshit mechanics?

Edited by Jim_PHX: 12/5/2018 6:09:22 AMI nominate this as forum post of the day....absolutely nailed it!

Agree 1000000000% dude
-
Good post and accurate on all points. Most of us that have stick around for love of D1 are seeing diminishing returns fgor our commitment and $$$$. This is not a way to keep a player base and cultivate new players.

This DLC is garbage and a huge letdown. You come out with the fantastic Forsaken DLC, then you top that cake with dog crap. I'm tired of defending this game and Bungie.
-
its ok, Last Word will save the game
next month
-
Its also a mini dlc if that means anything. I only played about 2 hours of and have to admit i was kind of disappointed, but i'll continue to play because i payed for new content and thats what i got. Even if its just a new horde mode lol.

Cry baby didn’t read what he was buying

Edited by MysticTR1: 12/5/2018 2:34:07 AMAbsolutely agreed, you get it Man!!! No matter how anyone tries to justify this, its a terrible roll out!!!

"o waow nu dlcs for destunye tew! Much content, many feature four decembur"
-
Please go away.
-
And they nerfed powerful drops to death. I should grind this hard when I already ground three chars to 600 to be ready for this event.
-
Terrible trolling attempt. Keep talking out of your rear
The verdict is: If you haven't bought the annual pass, then DO NOT BUY IT UNTIL: *They lower the light requirements of the forge and allow people to start playing and grinding what they just -blam!-ing paid for.
I think...they didn't really say what we were paying for very well. "More end game content" is what this is, which for people who were fully engaging in the end game I imagine is fine; the highest level activity in Forsaken is the Shattered Throne, with the boss encounters being 590 power enemies, after all.
*They sell the expansions separately for 10 dollars.
Yeah it doesn't sit quite right with me that the three of these must be packaged together.
*Until every content rollout up til March has released.
I feel like we'll be at the cusp of Joker's Wild so that makes sense, but even then you'd be grinding to 650 without point until then...
