Since the 2.1.0 patch, I have noticed that the Chromatic Fire warlock exotic perk which is meant to create a firefly like effect on kinetic precision kills has been nerfed.
Prior to the patch, the perk would create two explosions back-to-back. These would be capable of killing weaker red bar enemies so long as they were close enough.
Following the patch, the firefly effect now only creates a single elemental explosion which barely does 50% damage to a red bar enemy. Tested this in numerous situations and the results are clear.
Additionally this was not documented in the patch notes, and now the exotic feels significantly weaker. It now hardly tickles red bar enemies, so the exotic perk is now very underwhelming as a result.
So what's the story here? Was this an unintentional nerf to what was already a fairly mediocre Forsaken exotic? Or was this an intentional but undocumented change? Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

6 RepliesEdited by VisceralWharf33: 11/28/2018 2:01:53 PMYou beat me to it! I was about to post exactly the same thing. I did already post something in the help section, but no reply yet, I think it's been lost in the mix of all the other issues. But yes, completely agree. I've tested it thoroughly too and agree with your findings. Just a single, weak explosion now (or 2 with Ace of spades). The only thing that made this exotic feel special was the x2 explosions with normal kinetics or x3 explosions with the Ace of spades. It's the only thing that made it viable in PVE and even PVP. It certainly was not overpowered by any means, just viable. Now it just feels very weak and a waste of an exotic. One dragonfly explosion isn't even guaranteed good trash mob clearance! I hope this is a bug, and Bungie will change it back to how it was pre update 2.1.0. There has never been any reference to it being broken, needing a change or needing to be "fixed". If it was deliberate, then I think Bungie should make reference to it so everyone knows what's going on with it. Or if they want to keep it at 1 explosion, it should be much more powerful than a normal dragonfly explosion to compensate (and you know...to look cool again!). * A disappointed warlock :-( *
