So, as I’m sure you all know, many people have been complaining about competitive matches being one-sided as a result of someone leaving. I’m here to propose a potential solution.
Now I’ve heard of another, much simpler system that would serve as a solution to this problem. “Just disable glory point loss if the match ever becomes unbalanced.” This system almost works. Here’s why: People are selfish. If you remove point loss, then premade fireteams start having a “designated leaver” who will take the point loss if it looks like they will lose. This would only work in a lone wolf playlist, where players don’t coordinate with each other over leaving.
So how does my system work? It isn’t too complicated. The idea is to instantly end a game upon the match becoming imbalanced, while still giving players credit for the time they put into playing it, and discouraging cheating. Any time the match is not a 4v4, the game will instantly end. The players who stayed in will be given a small amount of glory proportional to the amount of time they were in the match. The more time they spent, the more glory they get. The amount of glory given is added up, and the total is subtracted from the leaver. In order to prevent cheating, only a fireteam leader can trigger this effect. (The game also classifies solo players as a fireteam leader) If a fireteam member leaves, the others in their fireteam will receive none of the glory benefits. People will always leave competitive matches, but hopefully this can prevent others in the match from being punished for it.
Edit: I forgot about this, you can thank DoctorEvil in the comments.
