(there is a video link above) So over the course of about a month I took about 400 clips of matchmaking at its finest. by finest i mean when i solo que i get put up against squads of 4 or more, more frequently than lobbies of other solo players. Now some may no think this is a problem (the ones teaming up) but others (solo qued people) would 100% agree with me on this. here are some issues i have seen and some possible resolutions because you cant complain without giving a viable solution. (btw most of the issues are in IB and comp playlist to include gambit). all this i believe will help with player experience in crucible to be better. I feel bungie hasn't taken this matter seriously enough to actually fix. - adjust matchmaking where squads play squads and more favorable for solo players to play against one another -Bungie has the practice of when you que into a comp playlist whether its crucible or gambit the lobby isnt viewable as it fills up. You can only see the lobby after you have launched from the waiting screen. Now this is a problem because we complain about how people leave matches early in comp playlist to include gambit and its because they cant leave earlier than until we launch into the game. So as a fix for this allow us to view the lobby as it fills so we can leave if we want to continue allowing matchmaking to fill those slots before we leave for the game. this will lower the amount of games where people leave and it becomes a 2v4 or even a 1v4 situation in a game. -now im not a great player but more times than none i have found myself in comp play with people on my team who are of not my skill level and people on the other team are past all of our skill levels and we get pummeled. maybe adjust the skill based matchmaking to make the teams more even. -put squads vs squads for ALL crucible and gambit playlists. nothing is more fun than being teamed against a 4 stack in comp or gambit or a 5 stack plus in quick play for us solo que people. teams of two in quick play is fine but when we get multiple small teams in quick play more times than none all those small teams are actually put on the same team vs solo players in essence making a full squad on the opposing team. -Stop launching us into a match in progress where we port in on the losing team losing by ALOT. maybe adjust the mercy rule on matches where its a full team vs a team of like 4 or 3. also i think the mercy rules need to be adjusted it seems sometimes that its not working the way it should like if we are at 100 and the other team is at like 50 mercy doesn't come into play when the team with 100 only needs 50 more to win. -on the map Solitude the spawning points on the map when you begin the game need to be adjusted. Capture point A is too close to the team that ports in on that side or capture point C is too far from the team that ports in on that side. flag A is started to be captured before flag C team gets halfway to their point. and before the time the team can reach flag C, flag A is already captured and that team is moving to flag B. or you can just take that map out of the control playlist its not good AT ALL. those are my chief complaints and ALL of those can be seen in my video. Now my video is quite lengthy at 20 minutes(also has captions to explain whats going on in most of the clips) but it i could have made a 3 hour video with all the clips i had but didn't use. and that is an issue since my clips came from about a 1 month period. but please comment and up vote and watch the video id like feedback whether you like how it is now or want it to change would like to get this post looked at by someone from Bungie. for game types where winning matters most there HAS to be more balance in it Edit: or just make a solo only playlist that is separate from everything else. like you click on solo que and then it brings up the exact menu we have now when we click on crucible and you can only enter if you are solo. this way it in case if you are afraid of increased matchmaking times this might help it?

    Does anyone know what goes into Gambit matchmaking, if anything? Is your Infamy rank factored in? Your overall Gambit stats? I usually don't end up on the same side as pairs or 3-stacks, but I don't know if that's luck, or if the numbers balanced better if I was on the other side, or if I'm ending up with them about 20% of the time as one would expect if it was random. (Note: I'm not trying to puff my ego here or anything - I don't think they put me opposite stacks because I'm so amazing or whatever)

    • I agree with majority of this. Teams need to face teams. But of course there are times in gambit and crucible that randoms go up against a team and win. HOWEVER majority of the time a 4 stack team is usually the one that wins, especially in Gambit. I will say I haven't played comp this season, and for those who solo comp, you're the real champions here, but you see, and I don't mean to make this about myself, I've been recently diagnosed for the third time with A.L.L. Leukaemia... and I don't really want to log in to play cancer when I already have it flowing through my veins. So that being said, if Bungie DOES approve solo queueing like they did in D1, pretty sure it would make D2 pvp a bit better... besides the sneaky shotguns lurking every corner! Oh and I don't really care for SBMM in quickplay. It's quickplay, it's meant to be havoc! I totally agree with some of the map layouts as well. I've noticed the control point capture distance on a few maps. Yes the maps look pretty Bungie, but the asymmetrical design doesn't work in favour of a team that spawns farther away from their first flag than the team that needs to take 10 steps to reach their's. p.s. great post btw!

        So idk if this link will work right. Or if it does work if you will be able to see it if you are not part of the group. But it seems something about mathmakin is catching traction among the bungie devs. Here is a post from a destiny 2/ bungie reddit where @Cozmo #Cozmo wrote a reply stating issues that are currently being looked up for a near future update. One of the topics says matchmaking has come to their attention and he has spoken with another dev that works in that area on the issue about possible fixes and such. I'd like to think everyone that contributed to this thread had a hand in it seeing as this post by Cozmo just came out like today only days after this thread was created and me messaging him to just take a moment to view this thread and please bring this to the attention of the proper devs if he could. So I hope all your guys effort and time you put into commenting and voting had a hand in that and you effort makes it contribute into making the game better.         This is the first time I am actually posting, but I must say I am not actually enjoying playing Gambit solo anymore. Literally every other game is up against a full team. It is not challenging, it is simply getting annihilated. I must say I am extremely disappointed in the developers/QA team. How could a team not see this problem coming? Perhaps you are of the opinion that faster queue times weigh heavier than a fun and challenging experience for the players involved. A bad decision in my opinion. I am not having fun anymore. While I agree that there should be a penalty for leaving a match, the fact that updates are made to such penalties and it appears to have your attention, but the state of matchmaking apparently does not, is rather clumsy. I will incur every penalty you will implement for leaving, as I refuse to ruin my mood by playing against full teams when I play solo. And that should be a problem to you, as there are clearly plenty of players that feel the same way. As I am mostly a solo player, if there is no solution for this in the short term, I will very likely just quit and find another good game to play. I play to have a fun and balanced game experience, not to get repeatedly annihilated. I have real life for that.

      • I literally just got into a quick play match and received a message before it even started. I was told "farm incoming". And then me and my team of randoms got completely obliterated by that stacked team. lol. I have to admit I was impressed by their team work as they were always together, maintaining complete map control, mowing our spawns, and keeping heavy. Thankfully we were mercied pretty quick... It was not a fun match by any means. lol

        Nobody at bungie seems to care that a bronze level elo solo player gets matched up against a full team of platinum elo players, all sporting trials emblems, and then gets curb stomped to the point that half the solo players quit out after a minute of play. Any streak you might have had, gone. I have found competitive matchmaking to be absurd. I would rather wait an extra minute or two to find more randoms to play against. It already takes a ridiculous amount of time to match make and load, what's the difference? Full teams should wait as long as it takes to find another full team (I might change my mind on this if I ever find a good team to play with, but I everyone I know is smarter than me and avoids competitive crucible). I would like to see the people at bungie to try to acquire Luna's Howl, solo, but I don't think anyone over there plays Destiny. They sure don't act like they are players.

        • I've concluded that Gambit literally cheats in favor of fireteams. Every time I go against a fourstack, the mobs are on super steroids. Last round, I had FOUR teammates get oneshot from full health by a cyclops. FOUR! It hit me twice and it was enough to drop me to 10% health instantly from full. That doesn't EVER happen when I play in a stack.

        • Gambit: 1/8... 5/8. Cancel. 1/8... 5/8. Cancel. 1/8... 5/8... oh screw it. 8/8... At least one guy still using blue gear on my team of randoms against a 4-Dredgen-fireteam all with Geomags/Shards of Galinor/Queensbreaker etc. Stomped. Repeat. Randoms against fireteam. Repeat. Can the fireteams SERIOUSLY not get matched up together? All I want are fair matches. Thanks.

        • I feel your pain after playing nothing but pvp for a week to get my last reset all the problems become crystal clear. Stacks become even worse when they are all running LH and NF, matchmaking always seems to put all the sweats on one side while putting all the low lv and skilled players on the other. Mercy rule is just broken I flew into a game that was 90 to 9 with just over a minute left on the clock. Mercy only kicked in with 30 seconds left And hiding the matchmaking lobby in things so people don’t leave is shady AF yet they bring back leavers penalty for gambit It’s pathetic and the fact they haven’t said anything about the matchmaking speaks volumes

        • Gambit matchmaking is bullshit as the topic above mentioned. Getting thrown not only against fire teams but fire teams with maxed gear when I have a player whose only 300 light and probably just barely used spark to get that far. I just grinded 7 hours of gambit straight and didnt leave mid-match once and still 2-3 games in a row I find myself getting thrown into a game half done and totally dominated. Am I being punished for playing well and completing my matches?! There needs to be a skill set created so that it can be taken into consideration when there are too many highly skilled players on one side. Crucible has an efficiency rate, how hard can it be to create for gambit. Base it off of enemies defeated, motes banked, guardians killed per game and how many deaths at the hands of other guardians. Solo play to grind out this breakneck auto rifle has been infuriating to day at the very least.

        • Solid post! I know Bungie wants to promote team play but it isn't always possible to organize that for many players. Matchmaking needs to prioritize teams vs teams and skill vs skill. Even in quickplay though a little more leeway should be given to keep queue times relatively low. If a 4 stack is going to take a long time (+5 minutes) to match up then look for solos or some 2 stacks of similar SKILL to keep the waits down. It's a simple concept and we all know your programmers are more than capable of executing it. So stop being lazy and listen to your community, the poll results and sheer number of posts regarding this issue should be more than enough incentive.

          • Matchmaking is completely exploitative. I’m shocked there wasn’t any mention of changes in this update. Bungie doesn’t care so long as the streamers get fed with easy welfare handout style matches against opponents who can’t fight back.

              You know what bungies response to this will be? Removing the player count before a match so you can’t see it jump when people are in a stack, I guarantee it. Know what bungies response to lag was from D1? Hide the connection bars in D2 so you can’t see who’s lagging and you don’t know who to report. It’s the bungie way.

Im pretty sure know everybody had a detail report of how F..ing broken unbalanced full of selfish bounty hunters cause of the type of bounty you provide. Fix F..ing Game or dont make it. On God if I hear one more stupid person tell me you dont have the money or the time. You should have fixes fast 5 days tops. If you are unable buy a new engine and throw this horrible one away

                  • I'm agree I have no fun when I need to play for win in fast game to get rewards. In Destiny 1 my rank his 500 so I got so much rewards😊 in destiny 2 I don't have more than 40 rank in fast game and now with 3 rank to get each time before to go Legend rank. Fast game are not here for have fun and get rewards??? I think yes because I got so much fun and rewards in fast game in destiny 1. AND NO NEED TO WIN EVERY TIME WITH BOUNTIES.

                    • Zero consideration for skill feels bad. Matches increasingly seem to end in mercy rule decisive win/loss. Quickplay is welfare for pvp. Easy handout at expense of others. Destiny 2 hands down has the worst matchmaking ever.
