A Ghost's Confession. (FanFiction)

Previous Entry: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/249699044?sort=0&page=0
Disclaimer: This post is Fanficiton, which is allowed in #Lore as declared by dmg04, link here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/249545832?sort=0&page=0&path=1. You are well within your rights to instantly downvote, but there are a few things I would like to state first: 1) If you wish to no longer see any of my posts, please block the tags #Fanfiction or #Biocatarus. By doing so you will never again see any Fanfiction from me in the future. You can also simply mute my profile if that’s prefered. 2) Downvotes, based on my own observations over the last few weeks, actually help keep a post in trending as they count as engagement. I thought it was worth mentioning so my readers, regardless of their standpoint, are better informed. As always I thank you for your time, and any feedback is appreciated.
The following log is from the Ghost of the Warlock Apheyra. He has only shown it to one other individual, resulting in this message being lost to time. ************************************************************************************* [Ghost Log: Does it matter?] I know the way you look at me, Titan. I know you see me as a monster, and I want you to read this testimony to understand that I was justified. For 400 years I sought my other half, and for 400 years I found nothing. I travelled to every rock in this worthless system, and every one of them was a disappointment. None of the dead were worthy of my Light. I was alone. I had always been alone. For eons. Do you know what that feels like? The endless all consuming dread that your existence will never amount to anything? No. From the moment you were born you had a friend, your Ghost. I had no one. And a Ghost is nothing without a Guardian. If it wasn’t for your… “Chosen”, I would still be that nothing. Had I not granted them their swift end, something far worse would have. I know You have grown attached to my other half, and I want you to know that she is only here because of me. Do you want to know my side of the story? Oh, you may deny it, but I know you do. On the anniversary of my creation, a mere week before our encounter, I had grown exhausted. Even Ghosts are not immune to time, and I had expected that moment of weakness to be my last. What happened instead was quite... interesting. I collapsed in a wretched heap of ruins and bones, ready to join with the dead. But in my final dream came a voice. It promised me many things, claimed to have the power needed to enact my one wish. I embraced it. After all I had been through, after all that time, can you blame me? You would have done the same. I awoke trapped in a Fallen net, its twin keepers dragging my form towards imminent death. They brought me before a scarred Captain, one that thirsted for absolute vengeance. He would have killed me, of that I am sure, yet, as if inflicted by a magic curse, he became swayed by my fearful words. He wanted revenge, and I provided him the answer to his wish. The Fallen warlord sent me to bring his prey, giving me an escort of his finest blades to ensure I did not flee. I didn't even try to do so, for we both had a common goal. He wanted you and your group dead, and I wanted a body. For an entire day I watched your camp, observing and waiting for the perfect moment to make my entrance. That vain Hunter provided the perfect distraction, setting a welcoming mood that was perfect for my arrival. And it worked. During the entire journey I was terrified that something, anything, would go wrong. Yet you never suspected a thing. It was an added bonus that you managed to kill that Captain and his followers, seeing as he would have... disapproved of my motives had he known. You saved my ward the trouble of that monster’s death. You must still hate me, and I know that there are no words I could utter to gain your forgiveness, so why even try? It is too late, I have what I wanted. So what if you and the others never speak to me? I am happy, for now I have my other half. And there is nothing you can do. [End of Log.] ~ Next Entry: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/249797623?sort=0&page=0 Lore Book: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/249535151?sort=0&page=0

We are so back! - old

Damn. An interesting read, really, but when I saw the title, I thought it would have gone like this, in a nutshell: A ghost’s confession...
I LOVE YOU.
The end.

        • This would have made an excellent ghost story (you know what I mean). So Vance had no idea... Humph, fine, she's pardoned. That ghost though, that's not gonna end well.
