It's a well-known fact that 100% of gun crime that happens in the US is due to a gun being used in that crime.
Also, it's normalized nowadays because people with the power to do something about it aren't really doing anything to address the situation.
It's a well-known fact that 100% of gun crime that happens in the US is due to a gun being used in that crime.
I’m not sure if this was meant to be satire or if maybe there is a better way to word it that more clearly illustrates the point you’re trying to make. I mean 100% of all car accidents involve cars so maybe I’m missing something, or my sarcasm detector needs new batteries.
Also, it's normalized nowadays because people with the power to do something about it aren't really doing anything to address the situation.
What exactly should be done? This was done in California. A state with some of the most strict gun laws in the nation. This was an awful thing to have happen to those innocent people, but there is no miracle cure for this disease. Mexico for example had nearly 30,000 gun related homicides last year according to NPR.org, despite having laws equivalent to, or even more severe than California’s laws. https://www.npr.org/sections/parallels/2018/01/25/580239712/mexico-registers-its-highest-homicides-on-record

I know that if I say something about gun crime and something about guns, people on this forum usually skim over it and say something to deflect blame on to something else.
What exactly should be done? This was done in California. A state with some of the most strict gun laws in the nation. This was an awful thing to have happen to those innocent people, but there is no miracle cure for this disease.
People are blaming mental health issues more and more each day, and at this point, there should be some legislation passed to fund mental healthcare more. At the federal level during Carter's time, there was a sizeable amount of funding going to mental health, and also some assistance. Then, Reagan repealed most of that law, and after that, we saw a steady increase in mental health issues becoming more entwined with crime. At the federal level, we should have more funding going towards mental health and mental health research. But as of the recent budget, money has been taken out of mental healthcare and mental health research and put towards defense, at a time where the US is at peacetime with other countries. We have an overinflated defense budget while other parts of the budget such as education, research, and healthcare have taken a huge hit to their funding. Rather than making much stricter gun laws, which we honestly don't need as of right now, we need to put more emphasis into ensuring that people are educated in gun handling, storage, safety, and also putting more emphasis into addressing and assisting mental health. People in the US blame shooters for being mentally ill, but their words are hollow if they don't have any action to back up their words.
