Next week, Exotic rewards will be updated to favor items that you have not already acquired.
Duplicates can and will still happen, but at a much lower rate. The team has also made a change to duplicate drops, in that they will favor armor over weapons. This will help those who are searching for specific perk sets now that armor offers random rolls.
We'll have a bit more on this in the TWAB on Thursday. Stay tuned.

this reply notably avoids any mention of INCREASING drop rates, just some weak dupe protection we used to get an exotic every hour or two, now it takes 40-60 hours bungie's progression adjustments are about as subtle as a sledgehammer
-
To be fair they shouldn't be that easy to get, they are exotic after all
-
There is a balance to be had.......it was IMO too easy to get Exotics now its way too hard. They really need to just find that middle ground.
-
Then maybe they should actually have perks that make them feel exotic and quit getting hit with nerfs because the crucibabies want everything shoved into the dirt.
-
I have only received one of the random exotic forsaken drops (Lord of Wolves). All the others I have have been thru quests. No armor or weapons. What gives. I have one character powered to 600 with only one exotic drop. This is redonkulous!!
-
The fact you think partial duplicate protection will be enough is hilarious. Still allowing quest exotics to drop, and still dirt poor drop rates in general, will kill this "solution". You'll release this, and there will still be people getting duplicates which will then just rage harder against this system. You should be ashamed.

Can you also answer some other questions on these forums? It makes it easier for me to mute all the toxic people in the replies you get😂 Btw Making them exotics drop a bit more won’t hurt. And giving Xur a change to sell some new exotics makes him a fun guy to look out to for the weekends.

I'm pretty damn sure you have promised this in the past ..duplicates for DAYS..
-
What about xur?

Edited by EmpOfDeath: 10/22/2018 10:20:07 PMSorry but you guys at bungo continually stuff around it's player base, this was supposed to be fixed in the past, you guys broke it, are you going to create a "Development Roadmap" for this as well, fact is, that when it affects you guys, you jump onto it, when it affects us you don't. You make everything sound as a "New Feature" however it's content we have all dealt with before, so did you guys think restrictions would keep players faithful, in reality it didn't. A heap of my friends are fed up with the grind, the lack of new exotics and the pathetic way of including masterwork cores into infusion and have decided to leave Destiny forever and to be honest, I don't blame them and I often wonder why I bother staying loyal to you when it is obvious that I am fed up with the crap. I stay because I believe you guys would actually get your shit together and get it right. Perhaps I am delusional but delusion can be fixed with medicine and I think my medicine will be ANTHEM, who knows but if it is, I won't be looking back or ever purchasing another Bungie game in the future.. Why do you not just LISTEN to your players and action those complaints immediately. However you guys just keep stuffing things up and going backwards instead of forwards.
-
Copy paste lies, why even listen anymore bungie if you’re just gonna say shit and never bring it
-
I mean I have 5 forsaken exotics non quest related I doubt it’s lies you’re just riding the salt train.
-
What does lying do, it doesn’t make them listen anyway so what’s the point
-
You are lucky few dude. Frustration gets to people, no salt here.
-
Yea but you can tell the difference b/w frustration and salt the line is thin but visible
-
And I have none. My first exotic dropped in the wild yesterday since Forsaken started, and it was Tractor Cannon. Just because it works for you doesn't mean it works for everyone.
-
That's RNG at it's finest...there is no...100 hour play time nets exotics...or anything. I play 3-4 hours a day 3-4 days a week and I've had 6 new drops. the dupe's I've had were needed to infuse at the cost of glimmer only. So the point is, it's working as intended for me. I understand it's not for everyone....that's how RNG works tho. Nonetheless, if I had 0 drops I wouldn't be here on the forums acting is life has ended, or that I've been "cheated" out of my money. If anything it means I'd get my moneys worth due to playing the game more. Some are blessed by RNGeeeeeeesus...some aren't...it's not a conspiracy. The entire point of RNG is so that no amount of playtime can trump others. It doesn't matter if you got 1500+ hours or 500 hours. Good luck and may RNGeeesus bless ya!!!
Nonetheless, if I had 0 drops I wouldn't be here on the forums acting is life has ended, or that I've been "cheated" out of my money
There's the extreme I do not understand. If the level of unhappiness hits that point, it really might be time for a break. I definitely play Forsaken far more sparingly than I did all of Destiny 1 because I do not like the return of the ultra grind (masterwork cores, light level slog), but this is just me. In small doses I am having a lot of fun, but I already have a job. People need to respect their own time because that isn't Bungie's responsibility.
the dupe's I've had were needed to infuse at the cost of glimmer only.
This is rather why I don't understand people who are against increasing to drop rate a little bit; the worst thing that happens is that you get even more loot. How is that bad? I personally discount any arguments of "gear being special" or "it makes drops more exciting" to be a fallacy. No gear is special (thousands to tens of thousands of players have every single piece of gear in your armory, in my armory, etc), and getting excitement over drops because the drop rate is so stingy just seems... sad? I'm only going to personally get "excited" when it's something I actually want, and no amount of time (short or long) is going to change my desire to want said item.
Good luck and may RNGeeesus bless ya!!!
I'm glad the game is keeping you happy, Guardian. Good luck to you as well along with wishes of continued blessing from the RNGenie.
-
Yea I don't use the "exciting" or "supposed to be rare"...I don't understand it either. Seems to be people who think they are "special" because they got a drop. Of course they'll say it's passion, can't really argue that. People hold value to things others don't...no problem with that. The problem is that people continue to curse RNG and play this game. Doesn't seem good for one's health, haha. I remember how boring Borderlands was, having to farm the same boss for 45 mins hoping to get a drop. I rather just play the game, and if I get a drop, I get a drop... I also understand others don't enjoy that aspect and wish to grind for specific drops, that is why the Raids seemed "farmable" because even if it's RNG based, specific items would drop from certain encounters. Haha...I can promise if I treated this game like a chore/job/whatever, then I'd be upset as well. Then I'd take a good long hard look in the mirror and say "really"? The point of any game is enjoyment, something extremely hard to gauge when the World comes together. People will always find that different things provide enjoyment for different people. You have to at least respect Bungie for finally deciding on a direction and actually moving that direction. Regardless of personal opinion as to which direction they decided to go. That spectrum is wide my friend...but no matter what side of it ya fall on...you gotta accept it sooner or later. ( I am not actually specifically talking to you, just in general terms, I don't want ya to think I'm attacking ya directly or "preaching" by any means )Just my take on things.
-
I appreciate your civility and sharing your point of view, Guardian!
-
You know the vice verse applies right? Just because you don’t get exotics doesn’t mean others don’t. Fact of the matter is the reason you see so many post about exotic drop rates is because the people who do get exotics have no reason to rage.
-
Oh, of course the reverse applies. And that's when we look toward the aggregate of those stating the drop rate is too stingy vs. those stating the drop rate is fine. We can't assume the situation of the player base who doesn't participate in the conversation as a balance to this issue, and going down that rabbit hole gets no one anywhere. We can only deal with the variables actively presented to us and those variables appear to state that a majority is unhappy with the drop rate.
