SBMM Needs to be Turned Back On
Mixing experts with lesser than experts is ruining crucible.

It's still off?? Yeah, it should def be on. It really only benefits the top 10% or so in the game. Honestly 1 great player can decided a whole match. There were way more top heavy matches they first changed it.

As for playing in fireteams I feel like it wont be fun for some teams. Depending on the fireteam leader's skill his teammates could either have the best matches or the worst. If the person with the lowest skill level becomes fireteam leader then the other team still gets pubstomped. At least for solo ques only you could only get matched up with skill level indefinitely. I have a lot of fun playing with people in d2. In d1 I hated playing with clan mates. The matches just weren't fun. If I went solo then it was great.

12 RepliesWith SBMM in D1, myself, an average player with a positive KD, was consistently being matched with people from Africa and the Middle East. This wasn’t a once in a while thing, this happened nearly every match. The connections were so bad that the game was actually unplayable. And to boot, the search times to find a match were extremely long. I can handle getting pubstomped every now and then from a stacked team if it means that 3/4 of the lobby isn’t redbars from another country. Soooooo No. screw you guy.

I noticed they took “low pressure” out of the description for Quickplay. Not sure when that happened, but anyway. Point was, by title, players wanting to be “competitive” have their very own mode! So please go over there, stop coming to Quickplay to farm me with your shiny new Luna’s Howl, and let me finish my Chaperone quest in peace. It’s hardly a matter of time spent in the game- check my D1 or D2 hours played. I just have not enjoyed a Crucible match...in 2018. Alone or with friends. It’s not fun any more. Even close matches are SO stupid extra. We as a community need to recognize and admit when a significant part of the game breeds outright toxicity. It makes me not want to play. There are quests I’ve put off because they require Crucible kills. I had every exotic in D1. Now, I am demotivated by the thought of entering the crucible. The developer won’t see anything wrong until we make it a problem. I think there’s an issue with matchmaking, because I don’t like being put against a team of players with 4.0 K/AD ratios. I played someone with a 12.0 once. Seriously? Why were they in there with me? I couldn’t land a shot. People kept leaving the match. That’s Crucible right now if you aren’t a top tier player. If you can’t see something wrong with that, you might be part of the problem too.

2 RepliesNot going to happen unless most average/low average players stop going back in for another stomping. As long as you feed the higher level players, even if you come on the forums to bitch about it, nothing will be done. If Bungie saw their player numbers drop like a stone, because most got tired of being stomped and quit, something would be done. Something else, I keep seeing those that like crucible the way it is, say that if SBMM was turned back on, lower/average players would get good games, but the upper levels will only get sweat matches. DO YOU NOT REALIZE THAT WITH SBMM, EVERYBODY SWEATS? The games are no "easier" for lower/average players, because they too, play those that are at their level. Personally, I think crucible needs to be more of a ranked system. You can be matched with somebody 1.0 above, or below your rank, but no more. That would give most a fighting chance, and the top players would still get some that are 1.0 below.

2 RepliesSBMM is nothing else than LAG. THINK, before you ask something stupid like this. Do you really think that you will get matched against same players like you with SBMM. Just go play Iron Banner or competitive and you'll see what SBMM means. Be happy that you at least can get kills in Quick Play.

In comp or quickplay? In comp they try to match you with people around the same rank. In quickplay, well it's quickplay. If that is what you are worried about, suck it up.

3 Repliesso when they did this the first time we went from 1m players on a weekend day down to 250k players in 5 months. now we are back up to 1m players again you want to do the same thing again? alas while I understand why people want it 750k players is more than 250k players. plus bungie and sbmm dont mix well. it turns the game in to a lag filled mess.

They tried it before and it didn't work. People just started complaining about sweat fests every game, the lag due to matchmaking you with people in another country, the red bar warriors, the long load times......etc,etc. So basically their going to piss someone off either way. I would like to see competitive sbmm, quickplay should be anything, and iron banner should be level advantage off. That's just me though, I really don't care too much about about pvp, if I get stomped , so be it, I don't have to play it.

3 RepliesI'm fine with them not including it and sticking with CBMM, but they could do a better job of trying to match the sides of the battle up so that high level players are on either side to even out the lobby.

No it doesn't. But then again Destiny 2 won't ever be a great game, so it doesn't matter.

8 RepliesLet me explain how this would play out. U start out low rank n stomp everyone, rank up then play sweaty matches against similar players. Win for a bit n u get stomped. Lose and u eventually derank until u stomp others then get stomped. Over n over n over...oh wait that's exactly what we have now. It should be random or connection based bc the guys curb stomping u prolly suck. I'm not good but every match I'm in has a Luna's or 6 in it bc I get a good score but die alot.

ohh god word of advice don't piss of the pvp no lifers they don't pvp to be hard hence the reason they bitched about sbmm during year 1 and got it removed from quick play

Yes please... and that’s from someone who benefits greatly from the current situation. All my less Hardcore friends now refuse to play. Blowout matches with less than a 30% chance to win are the rule. Not fun.

There always needed to be 2 mirrored playlists - or one playlist with an option for either SBMM or CBMM (exactly like Halo 3 had). So, casuals can have good matches and sweats could pub stomp randoms. It's the best solution. Always has been. Like, literally since 2007...
