The insane recoil and reticle bounce on console is used to cover up the copious amount of aim assist in Destiny. Destiny 2 has more aim assist than any shooter I have played in a very long time. If the recoil and bounce did not exist, you would actively get to see just how much the assist is actually aiming for you on most weapons. If they toned down the recoil, they would need to half the current aim assist values. This would make half the playerbase miss their shots, not be able to compete in crucible, and possibly not be able to complete most content. I definitely have advocated this change for a long time, and it would definitely help console reach closer to what I see on PC now that I have switched permanently.
TL:DR Be careful what you wish for. Recoil is covering up the extremely strong aim assist in D2, and lowering the recoil would mean they would need to reduce aim assist... this would actually be bad for about half the playerbase.

You mean half of the player base that are stuck with 180 hc and Bygones because any other weapon have stupid stability?? Rather have more stability so every weapon can be manageable. Lower Aim assist for stability wont be bad, trust me, right now is bad.

Edited by Zerosixious: 10/17/2018 3:34:23 PMI know how it is. I played on console previously. I made arguments for the reticle to stay centered and for guns to have less recoil and less aim assist. This would increase the skill gap by a large margin. I wanted this all through D1. When I came back to D2 for launch on console. The first thing I said was "The aim assist is absolutely bananas in this game." I was in console beta at 10 sens, running better devils, and hitting 100 kills+ over every blueberry in inverted spire. All I heard was people complaining about the recoil increase, and how D2 was dumb for having less aim assist. As Master player on console overwatch, I was blown away. I for sure thought it had more. I know there should be an even medium, but look at overwatch on console. People hate the targeting, but the curve and other mechanics are similar to other games. The big difference is the lack of bullet magnetism, and lower aim assist in general. When you watch lower ranked players on console overwatch, you almost can't help but laugh... This is what it would be like in destiny. Do you really want blueberries in your strikes and PvP matches who can't hit the wall in front of them? I guess where I am going with this hodgepodge of a post is... If you had a static reticle, reduced recoil, and severely reduced aim assist (would be required to make the aiming seamless,) most of the base game would still miss shots and have poor aim.

It’s hard to miss shots if you’re using Trust or Byones. Weapons that stable don’t really need so much aim assist. If aim assist is too high, reduce it. Add some more stability, because right now most weapons are trash despite the high aim assist. High aim assist helps with the targeting, but the terrible stability just kills the following shots and consistency. Give a blueberry any auto rifle... I guess it’s not fine right now. They are relying on a single weapon meta.

I’d rather be able to see what i’m aiming at and have to aim more precise than just spamming the gun hoping my bullets hit.
