It's who has more luck with matchmaking!!
3v4, 2v4 (non quitters ACTUALLY match made servers) are NOT skill based wins. Being disconnected from a match with no explanation is not a skill win. Most losses come from bad matchmaking and server issues... THAT is not competitive it's pure luck.
Bungie still remain silent on this issue even though EVERYONE is talking about it!
EDIT: amazing how the above original OP is too complicated for people to understand and as soon as they read the headline they explode with verbal diarrhea lol
EDIT: Before you post a stupid comment about using LFG, teaming up bla bla bla, that has NOTHING to do with the OP lol and how do you know I'm not already in a team... the issue STILL remains as even in a team you can still match against only 2 players making it 2v4 so... guess what... matchmaking is STILL broken lol...
ALSO please understand I have not stated this as an argument against winning or losing it's MERELY pointing out the issue so please for the love of god stop focusing on the win/loss factor and instead focus on the fact that the OP is that MATHCMAKING is an issue lol!
Further edit for more idiots... yes I have LAN no i don’t use wifi, yes my ISP has fully tested and no it’s 100% not my end... lol

Yep, it really isn’t competitive at all. - Games start with uneven teams, i’ve even been in a 1v4.... And if i leave this shitshow i’m punished for it. - Just like all of Destiny pvp, the mode has extensive lag/hit detection issues because its a P2P-game that on top that unreliable system also constantly creates lobbies that connect multiple continents, when even cross-continent connections are often laggy enough to ruin the experience - Netcode rewards shit internet, playing with a fiber connection feels like i’m being punished for having a good connection, while the player who warps all over the map gets God-mode instead of being kicked like they should - Most matches are one sided blowouts, team balancing is non-existant as far as skill levels are concerned, solo players face pre-made fireteams constantly, and often enough when you have 2 fireteams of 2 and 4 solo players the pre-mades both end up on the same team., etc. - The matchmaking is supposed to be ranked, but i’ve seen multiple occasions where players with over 2K difference in Glory score get matchmade in the same lobby 34 headshot kills to go and i can get my Luna, and then i’m never touching this playlist again unless they drastically improve the matchmaking. Good thing i already hit Fabled so deranking and constant losses due to reasons mentioned above no longer matter that much, i feel bad for anyone who is still working on it has to deal with this bullshit.

Playing solo sucks - it's always going to suck because you cannot control the actions of others. At least playing with a team allows you to communicate. But- That said, the system is broken for the following reasons: - In NO WAY should any match that doesn't finish with 8 players count either way toward ranking. I don't care if you played your ass off and beat the odds 3v4 or 2v4, nobody should get any points (granted or removed) after that game because it was an unfair match, undeniably. - SBMM should be the highest priority consideration in the 'Competitive' playlist, no exceptions. If the top 5% take 3 hours to queue, so be it. You can go to QP where CBMM is king. - Quitters deserve the highest possible penalty up to and including full day or week bans from the playlist.
-
Nope... It's who has the better team. Boom.
-
They SHOULD just rename it to Shotgun mode literally
-
you have 50% unlucky to be matched with a team not at the same level as you. And in that 50%, you have equal chance to meet a more superior team or a less competitive team which is 25% each....so you have only 1/4 of chance to meet a team better than you. So stop complaining. Admit that you're not good enough to be competitive.

Edited by SpamTheDamage: 10/16/2018 4:34:52 PMI think part of the problem is the connection, but the other part of the problem is nobody cares about the rewards. If I’m getting absolutely rolled on, there’s very little repercussion for me leaving. A tiny little tap on the wrist saying hey, you shouldn’t do that and a 30 point loss is nothing. Most people will only do competitive for Luna’s Howl, and who gives a shit if one or two games in a day they leave because they’re getting rolled? The lack of rewards compared to a competitive structure like Overwatch is not very rewarding, so not many people will care about leaving a game or taking a point loss, especially when the only reprimand is a 30 minute time-out that doesn’t scale with subsequent early game cancellations. It’s a very poorly designed competitive structure, that doesn’t match you properly.

Check this out. Just went home to do some matches. Lost the first for 1 point. It was a tight and fair match. soloes against soloes. One teammate being -blam!- gave the enemy the last point just seconds away. So yeah i did awesome and loss points. Then i had another match and won, had to carry the match. Then did another match with just an astonishing INCOMPETENT players who cant really kill or stand on a zone. So i lost again. Bottom line, my performance was good on all 3 matches but i ended up losing more than i won. As always its not competitive, is about luck. Competitive SHOULD REWARD PERFORMANCE. Not a random outcome depending on whatever criteria bungie uses to force this nonsense 50/5 ish WL ratio.
-
My personal complaint is that you shouldnt be able to lose a rank. Example i hit fabled, i shouldnt be able to drop beneath fabled.
-
It’s actually not “luck” if you are the one constantly getting disconnected. There’s steps you can take to reduce some of the disconnecting. You can’t control the actions of other players so randoms quitting on you is unfortunately just part of the experience.

Lemme tell you a story of how after the first round against a 4 stack, the 3 stack that was with me left. I took on a 4 stack on my own. It...It was a brutal match. All this to say man, I feel your pain. This wasn't a competitive match. I've had many matches where 1 person would leave and it would lead to our loss (though there have been a few times where we lost one person and we still won. Those I feel really good about).
-
If someone leaves there shouldn’t be any increase or decrease in comp score. You shouldn’t penalize a team for being a man short or reward a team for having an unfair advantage.
-
If your losing games because people leave.......why not find a team......

Destiny isn't competitive *

So I still don't understand how matchmaking works. I thought it was based on rank or highest rank on the fireteam, but that cant be true. Here's why. At the time of this particular match I was the highest rank at 1850 on my team. The opposing team was a 4 stack with one guy maxed at 5500 and hand Not Forgotten. A couple others had Luna. None of us did. We got destroyed...needless to say. At this point I have to believe matchmaking is a random mess.

the only problem i have with comp are three things 1. AFK dudes ( cmon if your in the playlist play or GTFO damnit) 2. A Team mate are all team mates leave.. (why you leaving you started the playlist for a reason you don't auto start like you do in quickplay...) bungie needs to add people to join when your team leaves cause time outs don't do nothing) 3. When one of your team mates is a level 10 noob with no good meta or power weapons (shouldnt be allowed to enter competitive till your a certain level to use said weapons , I know comp is not level based but cmon your gonna get out gunned by the metas) thats what quick play is for damnit.. I know its not your fault noob cause shax wants you to get wrecked in the playlist for some reason..)

It's sweaty.
-
I have never seen any disconnects in comp. Only the occasional rage quit.
-
I,m playing solo. Definitely there is this “ one step forward,4 steps back” pattern in the competitive. And Countdown is the worst they should get rid of that.
-
I’ve been playing competitive more because it’s been really fun and all the games have been close. I havnt had any matchmaking issues
-
Played like 6 games today 5 out of the 6 were 3v4 pretty much a guaranteed loss in anything but clash...
-
Got my broadsword last season. And just got lunas. Dont with pvp
-
Semper Fidelis
just a game - old
real competitive is only with lan and equal equipment... -
just had bungie disconnect me midgame. baboon error. competitive banned for no reason. I didn't leave the game their servers messed up. My internet is great. Yeah its entirely luck. And when they mess with the matchmaking it's bs also. https://youtu.be/-dAxpAdHIoM?t=182

For the 1000th time stop playing a game like Destiny for competitive PVP... it's loot based... Go play any one of a thousand other FPS games that are all about pvp. This game is more about loot, exploration, boss battles, puzzles, etc.
-
I was playing last night. Had a great win streak going and happened to be on my last game of the night. Was 5 all in Countdown and I got ddos'd, first time ever. Amazing lengths people will go to for a game and a hand cannon.
