Firstly, thank you for the feedback. Really. It's important for us to gather all that we can so we can make the most informed decisions going forward. ==== So you've listed a few items here that I wanted to address because I think it's important that we have a good dialogue. Regarding server maintenance. This is something that affects all things Destiny. This includes services that you might not consider a "game" service - like clans or fireteams. A lot of what we build is so intimately tied to the game that when game systems have to go offline, the service for the apps goes with it. It's super frustrating but sometimes we have to eat that - and we hate that it takes away from your experience. This, unfortunately, is unavoidable. But we should - and can - provide better 'offline' experiences. Regarding Server Space This really isn't how our services work or how apps in general work, but what I think you're referring to is the lack of loading or slow loading. This could be on us, to be fair, but we have a mandate that all apps must be under a required size as to not require wi-fi to use or download. We run our pages through automation that reports slow loading or timeouts to engineers - but of course we do that's standard practice for the industry. Regarding UI and UX Well, this one is on me. I'm constantly looking for the best ways to get users to interact with the services they want to use the most. We are currently taking a big crack at gear - to be released soon - that adds back some needed features and functionality, as well as adds more. Regarding Bungie's Efforts and Time The Companion Team is a valued part of the company, but by no means is the big fish :) We are smaller than you think and have to handle more services than just the ones facing the users. Bungie never wants to have a bad user experience out there and turn away users, and at the end of the day, we have to make calls in order to ship products. But as I said at the top of this, we want to continue to iterate and make the experience better as well as work with 3rd Party Apps like Ishtar and DIM to get them the API's and Tools they need. ==== The Companion team is always working to make the experience better, in or out of the app.

  • Thanks for the info. Can we please get rid of the current Fireteam finder and go back to the Legacy system now? Please? I'll buy you a beer.

  • Regarding the UI, there is one major issue that I would like addressed. If you tap on one of the headings, they shift to the left. If there isn't room for all of them, the left side disappears off the screen and there is no way to access it. You have to go back to the previous page, then come back for the headings to appear again.

  • This app is a great thing when it works 10 mins after you open it. It needs replaced. There is too much junk for it to load. I have to clear cache then wait 10 mins to use it. Seriously just make a light version for moving guns and armor and using the forums.

  • What a gigantic bowl of...awesomesauce! It's got to be difficult to be on the other side of the internet's black hole, which gets treated as an ever expanding refuse pile for all of our rage filled, overly emotional opinions and gripes. +1 for responding in such a professional manner to that condescending, demeaning complaint about your companies product. When you go home tonight and finally put your feet up, do it with a content smile on your face. You sir/ma'm, did a good job at work today! * Disclaimer - The posting above is not meant to reflect or ensinuate any level of sarcasm or "trolling". *

Thanks for the reply. I will respond for myself and let others respond separately and agree or disagree. I will add that I am the founder of a full clan but still often use LFG for raids so I know the clan management part of the app and the LFG part of the app first hand. 1. "Regarding server maintenance." The app doesn't just go down or run badly during server maintenance. The app has issues much more frequently than that. If the app was only down during server maintenance I would not have commented. 2. "Regarding Server Space" The api was throttled for hours yesterday due to high player volume. That is a lack of servers and only more servers will fix that problem during high player volume hours. I wish you would just admit that. As far as this: "we have a mandate that all apps must be under a required size as to not require wi-fi to use or download" I would say to get rid of that mandate. If that is what is responsible for a slowly running and often non responsive app even during times when there is not a high player volume then I would say to abandon that mandate. Who is playing Destiny 2 online and doesn't have wifi where they are playing it? I would also like to add that lots of very complex and feature rich apps manage to run just fine on cellular without being constantly slow or nonfunctional. I could name a million of them. So in some part this seems like a fake excuse. Is the "under a required size as to not require wi-fi to use" part of that standard referring to people who use the app on a 2G or older network? And if so, God why?! You should be able to make an app that functions well on a strong 4G connection and functions well on wifi. Everyone else does. Most other widely used apps that work great on wifi even function moderately well on just 3G. Why can't yours be the same? 3. "Regarding UI and UX" Glad to hear about the upcoming improvements 4. "Regarding Bungie's Efforts and Time" Sounds like Bungie needs to hire more people for the Companion team which is exactly what I expected. I know how software companies love to push their existing employees to work overtime, often under an inadequate salary, rather than hiring the needed number of people. This is completely on Bungie management. I am going to go look at websites that review workplaces like Glassdoor, Vault, and CareerBliss, and am going to send Bungie management some direct email feedback (I know how to find business emails) if I suspect they are understaffing the Companion team. P.S. Please make separate categories in Fireteams for the Leviathan raid and raid lairs and the Dreaming City raid (Last Wish) and future Dreaming City raid lairs. There are just too many posts in the "Raid" category of Fireteams right now and it leads to people spamming the category which only exacerbates the problem. You made a separate category for Gambit when Gambit came out. I wold imagine that this is a relatively easy fix. I know this is a small thing but it is something I care about and something that could be fixed quickly. I think it might also help on your end with the traffic because if the categories do not seem like they have too may posts in them for people's posts to get noticed than people will stop spamming them. Less posts equals less traffic.

  • Thanks for the info. A few things that I'd love to see with the companion app: 1. Bounty board/pickup 2. Gear item naming or categories so the one helmet I have with the "pump action" perk is easy to find on my vault 3. Gear loadouts so I can automatically equip the weapons and armor for example a "linear fusion rifle - centric build"
