They are 1v4 for gods sake.. and they have a very limited amount of time to find enemies on a HUGE map. Yes linear fusions (looking at you sleeper) are an issue, but without them it would be perfectly fine

  • Seems I misunderstood :). I agree something needs to change. I’ve only played maybe 3 gambit games and had no problems with Sleeper. I’m just afraid because normally when they nerf pvp it follows into pve. And I like using it in pve. :P

  • Personally I think it either needs to be excluded from gambit OR it needs to have some ammo economy changes in gambit only... Maybe locking the power slot for everybody when an invasion happens?

  • What if they took away the invaders heavy ammo when they go through the gate? And then on the other hand, the people he invades don’t know where he’s at so it’ll be harder for the invader to get Sleeper-ed into oblivion? It seems there a lot more ways to fix it than messing with Sleeper itself (fingers crossed). :)

    It's not the invaders that are the problem really.. it's easy enough to plop down a barricade, or just use cover and avoid a sleeper invasion...(kinda, I mean it's really obnoxious but you can wait out the invader for the most part) It's when you invade and have to dodge 4 sleepers.... that's just impossible lol. It makes invading essentially pointless.

  • Oh, I see your point. Like I mentioned my 3 games of Gambit doesn’t give me much credit! :D But I agree, dodging Sleepers would be very obnoxious. Hopefully Bungie can settle this and the majority of people be happy (they can’t please everybody like others think). :)

  • I think a solution that would fix all of the issues and keep most everybody happy is the following. -buff sleeper precision damage by 10% -severely reduce sleeper body shot damage (so it only does 180 to the body, not enough to kill a full health guardian) -allow sleeper to crit through shields. That solves the gambit issues without lowering its effectiveness in PvE (if anything it would be more effective as long as you land crits) No ammo economy changes needed, no gambit specific changes.

  • Funny, as once sleeper is nerfed you and others will be back here singing the same tune about a different gun. Next best thing to replace it, money is on spider killer grenades, or the wisp and a few others at best guess Just a continuous cycle of moan nerf moan nerf, been that way since d1 I’d imagine all those that are upset will ask so be very upset if a nerf also affects its pve usage.

  • Actually. I havent called for a single nerf since like 2016? And that was asking for a much needed flinch reduction on clever dragon... Been asking for buffs since, Sleeper ruins gambit. Plain and simple. There is literally no other weapon that is as dominant, (except probably 1000 voices, but basically nobody has that yet, so nobody cares YET) The fact of the matter is that gambit has PvP but bungie through out all of the normal pvp balancing regarding ammo... so it is a different animal... Sleeper is an issue because of its excessive ammo, and being top tier for basically every aspect of gambit. It's essentially uncounterable on the pvp side(when talking equal skill) , and still dishes out pretty amazing damage on the PvE side.

  • Doesnt mean the next weapon will get nerfed. People have been complaining about shotguns since launch almost, even more so now. Go look at the forums, everyone is bitching about them. (I hate how shotgun dominated the crucible is but I dont want them nerfed) Bungie hasnt even mentioned putting even a modicum of effort into dealing with shotguns Sleeper is bad enough in gambit that bungie openly discusses making changes after 2 weeks. Its pretty obvious that this is a special case because it's more than just the normal morons complaining, its everybody who has half a brain and a smidge of common sense asking for SOME change

    Completely different game mode for one and Bungie already stated they want pvp to be fast paced, so there’s your answer to why. I’ve not once mentioned or compared to pvp and fully aware of the post for shotguns. This is only about gambit and the what could happen next. And by Bungie law, what every they choose to do, another gun most likely will be the go too and then the next post will appear.

  • Like I said... there is no standout weapon after sleeper (except maybe 1000 voices) atleast not nearly to the same degree as sleeper. Just like when they nerfed Prometheus lens, there wasnt an immediate replacement that was anywhere nearly as powerful. Or when vex mythoclast was nerfed in D1. Nothing ever came close to that level of OP again. Sleeper is in the same boat

    Thorn wasnt as powerful as vex... Vex was basically like equipping a heavy weapon lol.. Thorn and TLW were close, both of which got nerfed because they were quite a bit out of line with the rest of the crucible. Even after the nerfs they remained meta in some way. Tlw was basically never not meta, and thorn was still in high use in sweats, it just had a high skill gap. But like I said, next on the chopping block is probably 1000 voices.... I think the issue with balancing gambit is that for pve there is an expectation for there to be tons of power ammo... but for the pvp side of things it needs to be extremely limited. As it is now, for the most part, invading/defending is basically a battle of power ammo... power ammo makes shutting invaders down too easy.. and it makes killing defenders too easy.

  • Risk and reward. Right now there is little risk and huge payout. Invade with a sleeper and it's almost guaranteed wall hack 3-4 kills. It's pretty much super low risk massive payout right now lol. Gambits amazing, it just needs some tweaking. I'm ok with the overshield, get rid of the wall hacks. You should earn your kills not just get ez pickings.
