Hey all,
We’re aware of reports that Sleeper Simulant feels strong in Gambit. The Sandbox team is currently looking at potential changes to help with this. We want to retain the strength of the weapon, but tune it so it doesn’t feel to be the only viable power weapon in this mode.
We’ll provide more details when possible. Stay tuned to official channels for updates.

Why the weapon is strong in Gambit: The hitbox on the shot it fires is massive, and real hard to dodge unless you're a hunter- even then it's predicting which way he thinks you're going to avoid the shot. It's WAY to simple to use... while people complained Graviton was easy to pick up and use- Sleeper is far easier considering it's a meat-shot kill on any resilience at any range. With how readily available Heavy Ammo is in Gambit- and that you don't loose it when you die, a person or team with Sleeper will readily have ammo for invading and dealing with invaders. A sniper yes can deal with it, but you have to line your shot up. A person using Sleeper just has to aim in your direction and he'll get the kill. I love the gun, it's a great weapon... in PvE and PvP. But in Gambit? It's a crutch because it's to easy to use it. It doesn't need a nerf in PvE or PvP- but in Gambit, the gun needs some sort of re-work. For the simple fact of how obtainable it is. It's a gun that is available to everyone- and with how Graviton was running around previously as the only one of two viable weapons for a while, something needs to come along to put it down like the current sandbox in PvP- or a re-tuning is required.
But if everyone can have it, why not just use it yourself?!
See the post by dmg04, everyone is saying it feels like the only viable weapon- for how ease of use, and readily obtainable it is. No game mode should feel like "If I'm not using X Weapon, or X Class- then I already lost." or "Oh my god this guy on our team is using X Weapon or X Class GG EZ BOIZ! We're gonna win cause of X Thing!" In PvP Sleeper is balanced cause it's a heavy weapon. In Gambit... the PvE side of things drops ammo for it readily at all times, so when it's used to deal with other players... it's a problem to the point you never see anything other than it. A re-work to keep it's strength, but keep it in line so no one feels like that if they aren't using the gun then they are going to loose is the only option. Bungie doesn't like that mentality. Look at Destiny 1, and Clever Dragon, Last Word, Thorn, Suros, Doctrine... remember those, D1 vets? How everyone felt "If I don't have one equipped... I may as well stay out of PvP." Yeah Bungie didn't like that, and re-tuned, nerfed and balanced them all. People still used them, but no one felt like they were going to be at a disadvantage if they didn't. That's what they're going to do with Sleeper. Keep the power, but re-work it so you don't feel like if you aren't using it, then you shouldn't bother with Gambit unless you are.
