Most of the responses appear to be relatively straight-forward, but the current economy for master cores seems to be unbalanced or inflated. I believe it costs 20 master cores to fully upgrade a weapon, and 2 master cores to even infuse weapons or armor without adding any additional benefits, but there are not any significant improvements over the previous benefits. My initial belief is new players are going to face significant challenges with the number of legendary shards and master cores he or she is going to be able to obtain (and maintain) as the player progresses in the game. Furthermore, I am uncertain why it would require any master cores to even infuse any non-masterworked weapon or armor piece into another. There needs to be a better option for obtaining several master cores at a reasonable price in this current economy. There is nothing wrong with a moderate level of grinding, but the current state of this expansion seems excessively 'grindy' in some areas. In my opinion, the cost of infusion, which includes planetary materials, numerous legendary shards, and master cores should be reduced from it's current level. There have been several positive changes with Forsaken, but some of the existing costs and benefits seem to be in place to unnecessarily extend the amount of time an individual expends playing the game. I understand your desire to make the game 'engaging' over a longer time line, but inflating the cost of certain resources or drops does not appear to be the appropriate answer.

  • Sorry but you provide way too much thought for bungie. This post has only confused the monkeys who can only handle flinging their own 💩

  • Xur should be selling an item similar to 3 of coins (D1 store drops) and a bit different than Finest matterweave. The reward should be a 5 park of masterwork cores. Getting legendary shards aren't a problem. Aside from my 9K+ shards i got over 1,000 just from dismantling gear and weapons by playing the game. Masterwork cores... That's a different beast though.

  • I could definitely support an idea similar to the one you have listed above and agree with your logic. I have too many hours in this game for legendary shards to be a problem right now as well, but that does not justify some of the current costs within the general economy. My initial thought is the rates were set based on the fact most players who were here at the inception of Destiny 2 have a decent amount of resources, but that is just a theory. My overall statement was attempting to account for any players, new or veteran, and his or her perspective on the concept during the journey. There are numerous rewards currently which appear to provide "1" masterwork core, such as reaching rank 6 with your clan when you receive the engram, which in my opinion is lackluster at best. I believe it takes approximately 20 masterwork cores to fully upgrade a weapon in Forsaken, and the difference in the lower tiers prior to the final upgrade appears to be non-existent initially. I am just not sure I see any reason the cost of masterworking a weapon or armor had to increase from the previous expansions, especially since the original amount was not returned upon dismantling the item. In summary, I definitely agree with your comment on having a mechanism in the game to provide an opportunity to receive several at one time.

  • 1. You don't need to infuse anything until very late in the game. Use new Collections to recreate Y1 items cheap (7 shards). 2. You should never infuse exotics and legendaries with blues (the price is too high). 3. Try to infuse with the same item (it's only glimmer, no cores and shards). 4. Buy masterwork cores from Spider each day (10 shards). 5. Dismantle old items - I've got tons of cores, shards and mod components. Understand new economy, it's not "too grindy" at all. Plenty of glimmer and materials with planetary bounties. In season 3 you could play entire week without masterwork loot to get cores. Now it's guaranteed 7 cores for 70 shards (14 for 210...)

  • I am not completely disagreeing with everything you wrote, but I am not sure the analysis is completely accurate. It may not account for challenges a new player would face when he or she begins the journey. There is no reason the cost of infusing non-masterworked armor or weapons into other non-masterworked armor or weapons should cost any masterwork cores. In addition, unless the previous weapons or armor dropped with a masterwork initially, the return on your investment when dismantling the weapon or armor is terrible at best. If I recall correctly, it previously required generally the same number of masterwork cores to switch a weapon from Vanguard or Crucible tracking, which is completely inflated. Ultimately, in my opinion, there are areas of the game which could be valued more appropriately, considering the required time to spend completing certain activities. You do not have to share my opinion, or agree with my perspective, but I am not sure a majority of players would agree with your comments on the costs and benefits associated with several of these items.

  • "There have been several positive changes with Forsaken, but some of the existing costs and benefits seem to be in place to unnecessarily extend the amount of time an individual expends playing the game." -- That is all Bungie knows how to do. People keep mistaking an "end game" for meaningless grinding. Bungie throttled XP gains with the initial launch of Destiny 2 and ever since that came out it has been hard to trust they aren't behind the scenes throttling more and just calling them "bugs". Bungie claims they want this to be a hobby but most people pick up hobbies because it's something they enjoy doing of their own volition. Apparently Bungie's idea of a hobby is forcing you play modes you don't like and grinding monotonous things to finally get something you do want. What a terrible experience and it's no wonder they can't keep a player base.

  • I completely agree with you on the mods as well, and I consider a number of these resources to be unnecessarily scarce. I would have thought an exchange rate of 5 to 1 for legendary mods would have been fairer than the current rate of 10 to 1 when trading at the gun smith. I have no problem with spending a certain amount of time acquiring resources within the game, but raising the cost of resources without increasing the availability seems to be directly related to artificially extending a player's time.

10 to 1 is fair enough because now you get mod back when dismantle modded year 2 item.

  • I appreciate the comment and it is certainly beneficial to receive it after dismantling future armor or weapons. However, in my opinion, the exchange rate could be lower when trading the mod components from all prior expansions at the gunsmith, considering I do not believe we were receiving when dismantling other gear in which the mods were present. My original post was more focused around masterwork cores, both the cost and availability, especially when considering how many were required to upgrade weapons and armor previously, and how many are returned from dismantling those now. Ultimately, I still believe the costs and availability of numerous items are still are still unnecessarily high or rare, respectively.

  • Yup master work cores should have zero to do with infusion and only to masterwork a gear piece. The system sucks currently but yes season 4 is a huge improvement
