The Middle Eastern culture represented in the destiny universe:

So one culture that has been requested by some people is Middle Eastern Culture. Now what you’ll find here is a mix of Iranian, Islamic, Parthian, Syrian, Babylonian and middle eastern (in general, ie it’s a current day thing), references. I’ll state what items belong to each. Enjoy: Weapons: - Nergal PR4 (Parthian) - god of war, plague, death and disease. - Zenobia-D (Syrian) - name of a 3rd century queen of the Syria based Palmyrene empire. The flavour text reads, “you were the true power on the throne”, a clear reference to the monarch. - Parthian Shot (Parthian) - a light horse military tactic made famous by the Parthians, an ancient Iranian people. - Zarinaea-D (Parthian) - a Sacae woman, sister of Cyraedus, and the wise of Marmares, ruler of the Parthians. She is noted for her beauty, wisdom and her bravery, as Sacae woman went into the field with men. - Izdubar-D (Babylonian) - the representation of Gilgamesh (the king of the Sumerian (southern Iraq) city-state of Uruk and a major hero in ancient Mesopotamian mythology), in the Victorian era story ‘Ishtar and Izdubar, the epic of Babylon’ (1884) by Leonidas le Cenci Hamilton. - Etana-S14 (Babylonian) - Etana was an Ancient Sumerian king of the city Kish. Sparrows: - Azure Azazyel (Islamic) - Islamic angel given the name Iblis (Islamic equivalent of the devil). Ships: - teatime with Marduk (Babylonian) - Babylonian god associated with water, vegetation, judgement and magic. Characters: - Suraya Hawthorne (General) - Suraya is a variant of the feminine name Soraya which is found mostly in the Middle East. Both names came from the Arabic name Thurayya, the Arabic name for the constellation “Pleiades”. - Timur (Islamic) - most powerful ruler in the Muslim world, Temür was a Turco-Mongol conqueror and founder of the Timurid Empire in Persia and Central Asia, and he became the first ruler of the Timurid dynasty. - Saladin (Islamic) - An-Nasir Salah as-Din Yusuf ibn Ayyub (otherwise known as Salahuddin Al Ayyubi (If you’re reading this HuSeYiN_NYC, we were on about the same person in our conversation)) was the first Sultan of Egypt and Syria, the founder of the Ayyubid dynasty and the leader of the Muslim military campaign against the Crusader states in the Levant. Thanks to user TogaedhickoryXI
- Rezyl Azir (Arabic) - Azir means strength in ancient Arabic. - The last City (general) - the last city’s populace’s clothing and some of the city’s architecture is inspired by Middle Eastern Culture.
Thanks to user aboodQ70
- Sagira (Arabic) - Her name in Arabic is "صغيره" which means "little one" if translated to English. - Ir Halak (Arabic) - Her name "هلاك"/ "Halak" means "doom" if translated from Arabic.
Thanks to jafer_33:
- Ishtar Sink (Babylonian) - the main location on Venus is derived from Ishtar, a Babylonian figure in ancient Babylonian religion. - Ur (Babylonian) - could be derived from the ancient Sumerian city-state of the same name which is located in southern Iraq.

if you got this far, thank you for reading. I’d really appreciate if you leave any that I couldn’t find and I’ll edit OP with your find. Link to my master post https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/247827988/0/0
