I think I know where the City might be located

As the title suggests, I think I found a good lead on where the City could potentially be located at. And it’s all thanks to everyone’s “favorite” Grenade launcher from Curse of Osiris, the Colony. As the lore of the Colony reads:
Have you ever watched a snake kill something? It's awful. It's so awful. I watched a man die of a terciopelo bite once. Out by the northern wall. I still have nightmares about it. Anyway, that's where VEIST comes from. The inspiration, I mean. Weapons with all the power of a venomous creature. Plus an onboard AI with that creature's killer instincts. And now there's the Colony. A grenade launcher packed with fully mobile, AI-controlled insectoid detonators, each one designed with a taste for blood. We've made some pretty messed-up stuff. You've probably seen it. You know. But we've never made anything like the Colony before.
When you first read it, you just see what the foundry, Veist, has Based it’s Weapons off of: the deadly predators of the animal kingdom. Mostly reptiles, insects, and arachnids. However, it’s their love of these creatures that gives us an insight on where the City could be located. Read the first paragraph of the Colony lore. Notice that key detail? Don’t see it?
Have you ever watched a snake kill something? It's awful. It's so awful. I watched a man die of a terciopelo bite once. Out by the northern wall. I still have nightmares about it.
“Terciopelo” is our key detail in this. “What is a terciopelo?”, you may be asking. The terciopelo is in fact a real species of pit viper sometimes called a “bothrops asper.” These extremely dangerous snakes are often found ranging from southern Mexico to northern South America. Here is a map showing the range of this serpent: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7f/Bothrops_asper_Area.PNG/220px-Bothrops_asper_Area.PNG Judging by the graph and the detail of the bite taking place “out by the northern wall”, we can make an assumption that the Last City of Earth is located at the Americas. Most likely South America. Edit: I would like thank Phantom (not full name, so no name-and-shame ban for you today Ninjas), for reminding me of the Andes theory for the City location. Map of the Andes: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/6a/41/de/6a41de39db995297698f09d5e0c0da44.gif As you can see, the mountain range runs along the west of South America from the South all the way to the North. Compare the Andes map to the terciopelo map, and you can see that the most northern part of the mountains intersects with the most southern part of the snake range. Taking all of this into consideration, I firmly believe that the Last City is in South America. Specifically near the countries of Columbia, Venezuela, and possibly Brazil. Edit 2: After much discussion, I believe I can safely place an exact, or at least a really close, location of where the City could be at. Based on the wildlife, the geography, and other hints we have been given, we can reasonably assume that the Last City on Earth is located within Columbia.

so i recently have been giving more thought to where the last city is, and you made some valid points but i still believe that the traveler and the last city has to be in old Russia. there really is no doubt in my mind that it is in old Russia. There is no jungle what so ever and most plant life resembles plants from the northern hemisphere. plus there is this little vid. Just look where the traveler is and where the light from It originates from. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=19&v=v1sTIoz1FFI you can even make out what looks like south east Asia as the light engulfs the Earth.

    • I always assumed it was in Russia because there’s a crucible map in D1, I think Twilight Gap, that says it’s in old Russia and you can see the Traveler/Last City outside the map.
Maybe I’m imaging that
• I think you're definitely on the right track. It is definitely somewhere in the Americas, otherwise why would Hawthorne have had to cross an ocean to get to the EDZ, and the farm. You're not the first to find this, but good job. Not everyone can read every post on the forums. Keep at it. You may be the one to pinpoint the city's location.

It’s not in Brazil or any of the locations you’ve said. The fact that you’d even consider the location being anywhere near there is stupid to say the least and you clearly no nothing about this game. This whole post is pointless, cause the last city is in Russia. Considering that very first mission in destiny one is in old Russia and at the end of it your jump ship just flies to the last city ( keep in mind it does not have a working transmitter so it can’t jump from orbit.) The twilight gap which is by the last city is littered with pre collapse old Russian writing and cosmodrome tech. The very landscape around the city looks nothing like how would look in South America or Brazil. But please correct me if you can cause I’ll be happy to correct you again. The weather changes in the frost game in the cosmodrome also included constant snow fall at some points. That doesn’t happen in any of the locations you’ve stated.

            • I concur with your theory. I had previously concluded the last city was either in a terraformed Arctic, or in the America’s, based on Hawthorne saying she flew across the ocean from the EDZ

            • I’ve read the majority of posts on here, and I just have a few questions that nag me. Where does hawthorn say she flew across an ocean? I don’t ever remember hearing that line. Not saying she didn’t say it, just don’t remember. But that quote, and the colony, seem to be the bedrock of your entire argument. Where as all the other clues point to it being in Eurasia somewhere. Two things I’ve noticed that nobody has brought up are shards of the traveler, and Suraya Hawthorne herself. Suraya is an Arabic name. Why would somebody born in South America give their child an Arabic name? But if she was in the last city, that is much closer for refugees from the Middle East to flee to, to get to the last city. The farm is also in the EDZ. Why would hawthorn fly all the way from South America, to Europe, just to set up a rag tag camp? She would stay near the city to gather refugees easier. Not fly across an ocean. And as for the shard of the traveler, those are from when the traveler battled the darkness and was damaged. Why would of piece of the traveler end up in Europe, when the traveler was in South America? Sure, we’ve had dust clouds from Africa make their way to America. That’s dust. Not a giant hunk of machinery. That flew over the entire ocean. And I kept it clean. I saw to many people name calling and crap. Just up for a quick debate before work more than anything.

                • Sorry dude, if you remember from D1, we are somewhere in the European area. Most likely a Russian area since most of the signs are in Russian. With that info, the last city is somewhere in that continental area.

Interesting. I always assumed the City was somewhere in Europe, possibly the Alps, based on its apparent proximity to the EDZ and Russia. If the City is in South America it seems less plausible that the City would have scouts in East Europe (Devrim). Same with the Farm. Hawthorne doesn’t have official permission to leave the City because she is not a Guardian, so why would she setup a base so far away just in case she needed help. Also, if the City isn’t in Europe why is so much of the Vanguards attention focused there. Surely they would be trying to secure the immediate area like the Amazon. I’m not disputing your research I just think Bungie might have made a slight hiccup in terms of habitats and common sense.

                                • This sounds like a solid theory and has lots of supporting evidence. There are just a couple things I'm still not convinced about. Like how twilight gap shares similarities to the cosmodrome and I don't think the "Bungie reused models" argument cuts it but all in all this is a good theory,
