This always bothered me, seeing as the Iron Lords actively defended each other’s ghosts during resurrection while in firefights. I can’t remember where, but it’s also flat-out stated that one of the ways for a guardian to actually die is for their ghost to be physically damaged beyond repair.
So why do we just have them sit on our shoulder? (more or less) That seems really dangerous seeing as a single stray shredder bolt would probably do a fair amount of damage to a little robot.
I don’t know. That’s just my thought.

My head canon is the ghost can effectively ‘cloak’ itself to stay safe until their needed. That or the just sit in some kind of pouch. (Ours does make reference to ‘living in our backpack’ a couple times.).
