Is it just me or is Iron banner really bad. Ive played 10 matches and been mercied 5 times or just wiped. The match making is horrible. All teams do now is push to get all three zones and then wipe squads. To add insult to injury my teammates go out there on a lockdown and get killed. Wtf??
-
They turned on SBMM this IB, it's the reason why you find matches more sweatier, or in my case, sweatier and laggy compared to previous IB it was none of that, I don't mind if it's sweaty but it is extremely aggravating if I'm lagging on top of that
-
That's because SBMM is clearly in Iron Banner. The connections in the few games I played were so horrible to the point that I only played about a dozen games but I'm sure I'm pulling from a smaller pool because I have a 1.7+ K/D and 2.5+ KA/D. Not to mention every game was a sweat fest. Some of my friends who had much lower ratings than me 1.2 KA/D, etc were having a blast with banner because they weren't playing higher skilled players in QP. So the safety net is in effect. I agree though, the changes with the triple cap this time around were stupid. No one tries to use any kind of map control and constantly try to triple cap making spawns even worse than they already were. Haha.
-
So by the sounds things IB is worth trying? 😂
-
It’s so bad I went to qp and started annhilating fools. In banner it’s so sweaty like these fcuks can’t trust in themselves and are always holding hands with one or two others. I miss the solo strength of d1.

Unfortunately bungie cant idiot proof their game modes. Ive said this in other post but ill say it again here. Reason pvp and iron banner feels so bad is cause half the community doesnt care about objectives. They are more worried about killing than winning. And when they dont care about winning theu basically feed points and kills to the enemy team and mercy's happen more often. The lesser skilled players really need to just learn how to actually play the game and stop thinking they can get away with just eating bullets till you get a kill.
-
Yeah gotta say if your teams are mismatched, you’re much more likely to get smashed due to the lockdown. Again it seems like something Bungie didn’t thoroughly test before implementation. IB isn’t the sort of game mode people should be getting slaughtered in. Good way to put people off of PVP if they only play it casually.
-
This has been my experience. Teams don’t know how to zone, they only push for triple cap and die repeatedly. I got invited to a 6-man squad and it didn’t make a difference. In iron banner, I just stay near the captured point to anchor the spawn and let the other 5 run around nonsensically. Really only takes one person to shift the tides like that.

Edited by ElectroHail: 8/15/2018 3:08:55 AMThe new update is literally reskinned control. But that was the case regardless. Now with the new Lockdown mechanic, that 6 stack of Arcstriders can F you over for an extra 30 seconds.
-
IB has sucked in all of D2. For one phucking control every time and PvP In general has been bad in D2.
-
It really is pretty horrible.
-
I'm just bored of control, to be honest.
-
My first 3 matches i got matched vs the same squad of 6 stack. All trials players with over 280 flawless runs. On top of that i was on a team of full solos. Not sure whats ip with this matchmaking. Injustbwent back to QP real fast.

It’s Control. People either push all flags with no kills or push for kills and -blam!- the flags.
-
I’d rather be on the end of a mercy rule then have a loosing match drag on, like just beat me down quickly so I can move on with my life. Also the new Control is a million times better than regular control, it feels like people actually attempt to play OBJ
-
So ...don't let them take all 3.
-
You are playing people of similar skill not people with 5 crucible matches to there destiny career.
-
Sweat based matchmaking unfortunately.
-
Iron banner is just bad full stop
-
Yeah not the best so far

Matchmaking has always been at least a little questionable in terms of pulling together reasonably matched teams. Sometimes it goes fine, other times, not so much. As far as actual mechanics go, I think the lockdown mechanic just isn’t good gameplay, as it much more actively discourages the zero-zone team from fighting back or really doing anything other than running and hiding. I don’t think it’s a healthy play pattern, and it’s definitely frustrating getting locked down when your team is in the middle of actively capturing an enemy zone. I do think that games across quickplay and Iron Banner are a little too slow right now and could do with lower score targets. 125 felt right for 6v6 control; 150 does not.
-
Higher score limit and lockout are crap.
-
Yeah I tried one match and just got annoyed since I was constantly dumping ammo and grenades into teammates who'd prevent me from getting to cover. We need bigger maps
