So are Macros "illegal" in PvP or not?

I keep finding people say "3rd party application will get you banned". There are two problems with this statement and I can't seem to find any answers. 1st my mouse and keyboard literally run off a 3rd party program, but they only affect the mouse and keyboard (they are Razer products). So is it bannable to use my mouse and keyboard? 2nd If not then why am I being told I'll be banned if I use macros in PvP? I have stayed away from titan skating macros because I don't want to get banned after all the money/ time I've put in this game. The problem is in trials I am getting smoked by super quick titan skating that is clearly the result of macros. Can I get an official answer? Can I use macros in PVP specially. Thanks to those who to the time to answer.

  • No. Bungie has a partnership with Razer. It'd be dumb on their part if they were against macros when at the same time having their products names on Razer products that have macro functionality.

  • For titan skating you can bind your jump to your scroll wheel, that is perfectly legal if you want to use it

  • Unless you can give hard evidence, theres really no way for somebody to get banned for using a macro. The only way you can really get banned for using a macro is if it lets you do something unbelievably amazing like what macros are used for in most other games, which is just outright cheating in some cases. 3rd party applications generally mean Jtags, modded controllers, Kb/m adapters for console, stuff that doesn't correlate with the hardware itself. Your razer stuff is fine because its the software that actually makes your kb/m function. but something like a modded controller (provided you can prove that one is being used) would be bannable

  • Bungie relies on "data" when issuing bans, and the data will only show normal button/key presses since macros just emulate user action. They never look at video evidence. You could be blatantly cheating in a very visible way and nothing will happen to you unless the data shows something suspicious (which it probably won't)

    • Would there even a way to prove your using a macro? From my understanding even if you use a macro there is no way anyone is going to know. Titan skating for example, some players are just so good at it they look like its a macro but its not. Personally I would not use macro's/
