Probably would have cared more about the speaker actually dying if a) his death scene was even remotely interesting (i should not have been left questioning whether or not he had just been killed), and b) we actually built any kind or relationship with him, what so ever, across the three years of gameplay that he was around.
Basically it was a rather boring death for a rather boring and insignificant feeling character. The only thing i am sad about, is that the potential story that he could have told us that scared children, died with him.

True, but they didnt do a great job of "Killing" him off, whether or not he is dead.
