you do realize that lack of SBMM positively affects everybody in the top 50%, and negatively affects the bottom 50%, the amount of affect is determined by how far from average you are.
Basic statistical reasoning here, the "average" player will stomp just as often as they get stomped. The better player will stomp more than they get stomped, and the worse player will get stomped more than they stomp. Pretty simple.
SBMM basically eliminates the possibility of outlier games (extreme good or bad performance), and normalizes the gameplay experience, which makes it feel boring and sweaty.
As for your sport analogy, i find it interesting that you bring up COMPETITIVE sports teams, when talking about Quickplay. If you want to play people very near your skill level, go play comp, that is the entire purpose of that playlist, but quickplay is like an intramural or club sport, its not about winning or losing, its just about a casual fun experience. And guess what, in club sports bad players and incredible players are on the same field/court, you never hear "oh your team is too good, so you cant play with the rest of the league, sorry"
