Bullshit. Just straight up lying bullshit. The knock-out list in Everworse. Three of Coins increasing the likelihood of granting an exotic with each boss kill. Faction packages in The Taken King giving you ships and shaders you haven't previously received. You guys have always known how to do deterministic or "smart" RNG. You are just incredibly selective about how you implement it. You know the way people play your game. Actually, maybe you don't. Maybe you've had four years of observation, input, and feedback and you still don't have a clue. You SHOULD know that if you put something like the Whisper in the game people are going to want to farm for it, and almost nothing you do is going to change that. You COULD have used a ToC-style system to cumulatively build the odds for the Blight PE. It could have started out 50/50, then become 60/40, 70/30, etc, until the event showed up. You could have had the foresight to design it this way. You could have made changes based on feedback. Instead, you "look into it" because you stubbornly prefer to alienate players rather than adapt to them, or you simply cannot make changes to this game in a timely fashion. This is the kind of thing that caused more than half of D1 purchasers to leave the franchise. This is the kind of thing that caused more than half of D2 purchasers to leave the franchise. And this is why I, after 4 years of support have still yet to decide whether I've purchased my last piece of content from you. It's not just the mistakes you make, it's the bullshit you heap upon those mistakes.

  • So what you're saying, is that if the RNG doesn't suit you, it's broken. And that Bungie needs to make it less random in order to make it seem random? This reminds me of the time Apple did the exact same thing to their Shuffle feature...

No, I'm not. I'm saying there are ways to eventually reward players for their time invested, rather than a purely random system that allows some to be so unlucky that they're NEVER rewarded. I played D1 for over 1000 hours and never got the Gjallarhorn as a drop. That was literally game breaking for me as there were assholes that would boot me from raid teams not because of lack of skill, not because I hadn't invested enough "hardcore" time, but because of dumb luck. Pure RNG is a fundamentally terrible system. For every player hooked on it there's one or more that drops the game. For every guy that feels his loot is a badge of honor showing his 100 hours of dedication there is some lucky doof that got it on day one. There are smarter, more creative, and more challenging ways to make loot a meaningful reward for time invested that is an actual testament to dedication and skill. Pure RNG is easy, cheap, and absolutely vicious to some players. Everything about the WotW mission is done right except for how it begins.

  • Double Amen. I'm an unlucky person.. ever since pc diablo. I would watch friends and clanmates get all the drops i never got, to the point it became a running joke, and still is for the guys who have gamed with me since diablo 2. Id say it had to do with a "luck seed" that is created upon account creation, since activision blizzard and bungie are all part of some conglomerate, which others have discussed back in the day of diablo, but then you'd all tell me to take off the tinfoil hat. But the fact remains, RNGesus is not as kind to everyone, so you end up with "haves" and "have nots", caused not cause some "aren't good enough" or "deserving" but because they fell on the wrong side of RNG more often than someone else. That's poor game design. I have those special items i could get by completing quests or challenges. No one can beat RNG, but there are those that are clearly luckier than others. Or maybe its just me... and im a bad RNG gravity well.

  • Maybe, but this cabal drill has nothing to do with individual rng. It's a game wide universal rng

  • But apparently not for everyone. Some got lucky and got in the first time. Some wait. So it may or maynot be universal. The number of people voicing the gitgud or stop whining points of view clearly indicate , not everyone experiences the same bad luck on cabal streaks....

  • It just depends on when you are trying to do the quest. If you are trying during the cabal streak, everyone is experiencing the cabal streak. Some people got lucky and got on at the right time. Their game isn't different.
