Hey all,
Today we’ve discovered an issue with Quickplay Matchmaking. We are actively investigating the depth of the issue, and currently believe that neither connection nor skill are being factored correctly when forming matches. PvP Design Lead Derek Carroll has more information on our next steps:
With the release of Update 1.2.3, we introduced 6v6 Quickplay with a bug that causes skill-matching and potentially connection-matching to fail in that playlist. This results in much faster – but lower-quality – matches than normal. Our plan for the immediate future is to take no immediate action, monitor the health of the playlist, take notes, and ready a potential fix. We will inform the community with our findings and if we make a change, you will be the first to know (just like this time).
9 RepliesQP is more toxic than usual. While I seem to be doing about the same as before, there are a LOT more lopsided matches, and since I'm on the losing team 75% of the time now, the game isn't fun anymore. Losing a control match 150 to 69 isn't fun no matter how well you may do. Especially when I'm trying to get paradox amplifiers, which apparently you don't get when your team loses. BTW, the new meta is the old meta. Crimson, vigalence wing everywhere.

Destiny continues to suffer from a clear vision. By the devs who guessed right with Taken King, fine tuned in ROI and smoked crack ever since... By the Community (who largely thanks to bungie) continues to splinter evermore. Pvp v. Pve vs. Solos... it never ends. One vision. One game. From top to bottom. Get on-board or get out. Know when the party's over... retain some dignity. (Oh, and just wait til ttk is lowered... ) #Unplayable

All I know is I've been getting dropped into matches in progress a lot more often, players leaving more often and more AFK's. My matches were about 50/50. Now about 25/75 at best. I understand sweats don't want to sweat all the time, but why is every matches so sweaty just to break even. Ether crush the other team or more likely get crushed. The one play list that's supposed to be casual is anything but casual. At least fix the connection priority, cause it's bad enough to be loosing it's even worse when there glitching and/or not taking damage. So how can everyone have fun in such a toxic environment?

32 RepliesYou don't need to be a Professor to predict the reaction to the removal of SBMM. Since it makes the game easier for the best players, of course they are happy. And of course, the average player that is getting stomped is pissed - and rightfully so. I also don't understand why someone would work towards being really good and competitive and then wish for easier matches and people to stomp. If you invest a lot of time to get good, you are asking to compete with the best. So please don't complain when the game matches you with fair opponents. Imagine Football clubs like Real Madrid or Manchester United investing hundreds of millions in their players and then complain when they are put up against similar skilled teams and not against your local hobby soccer team. Even though sometimes "Loosing" and "Fun" are not mutually exclusive, what definitely is mutually exclusive is "Fun" and "getting stomped". Contrary to common belief, you don't learn shit from getting your ass handed to you, because you are dead before you even realize what went wrong. The only way to learn how to get better is to player harder and harder and harder opponents as you improve yourself. Exactly what SBMM is for. Competitive is more intense and no substitute for QP with SBMM. In competitive, Radar is disabled so you need to rely on audio cues and your teams callouts. Plus, there is something on the line (your Glory points) that you are afraid to loose. I want every mode to include SBMM. Quickplay is just to play without the stress of maybe loosing something and Competitive is when I want to go Tryhard outside of Trials. SBMM is an absolute must have for any multiplayer game these days. If you just declare the majority or your playerbase as "Free to shot" you are digging your own grave, because those players will leave and try to find a more fair experience. In the end, only the hardcore sweats will be left playing eachother, exactly how it was with SBMM. But since the majority of your playerbase left, there is not way of fixing it. You have just doomed your game. Great work.

i was in a team with two other friends, so 3 of us, and we got dropped into a match in progress on the loosing team of course. this should never happen, i can understand it happening to solo players, it happens to me often when i solo queue and that's whatever but 3 people getting dropped into a match is ridiculous. also the mercy rule is broken, the match we got dropped into should have ended in a mercy before we even landed. take immediate action to fix this KNOWN bug.

20 RepliesSo basically it's now as salty as Trials competitive. There is really no place for low tier players, or people in thier 50's that have lost the hand eye coordination to go. I'm in my 50's and time has stated that git gud is just not possible like when I was a teen. Really liked quick play because I could hold my own, I know it was mostly against people just learning the game. Or old people like me. I know my place and what I can and can't do. But now I am getting creamed every match. But if the mass wants it to stay then let it stay. I will enjoy other parts of the game.

6 RepliesBungie’s way of matchmaking- A team consisting of 5 to 6 decent players vs A team consisting of five really bad players and one player that is quite a bit better than almost everyone on the other team Decent player is tasked with balancing the match by going 3.0 while teammates are getting .5 wrecked Or at least it sure hell seems that way.

Edited by C-a-I-l-u-m: 8/1/2018 3:24:59 PMThe last year of d1 was perfect for me... playing people of my level and slowly getting better.

How is it that every single -blam!-ING TIME you retards release an update you -blam!- it up. Are you all -blam!-ing brain dead? You are the only devs i have ever seen in my time of gaming to release EVERY SINGLE UPDATE FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS WITH A -blam!-ING BUG

22 RepliesAs a guess at what your data will show, the people with 0.5kd in every match will stop playing entirely and every match will eventually get sweatier and sweatier as the cannon fodder quits...

Am I the only one who just wants a different scoring system? Bring back D1 crucible scoring, you can literally keep everything else the same but make the scores based off headshots, ability kills, objectives etc. The problem with QP is that it's scoring system makes it much easier for comp players and bad for non-comp players, if the score is based off of real performance, then SBMM is really not needed in QP. However it would really make no difference if SBMM was still a thing anyway, I mean come on you don't play QP to be competitive, why is everyone so salty? Seriously, bring back the scoring system from D1 and add it in to any non-competitive gamemode.

1 ReplyThis event is horrible. Really fckn bad

1 ReplyI like the new crucible. This is how it felt in year 1 of Destiny 1. Then they introduced sbmm and all of a sudden the casual playlists got sweaty. If I were Bungie, I wouldn’t use this forum as a point of reference either. All that remains is a bunch of salty guardians that do nothing but complain. No one can argue this point either, it’s fact. Best way for Bungie to review this situation is look at player population and win/loss ratios of players. If I were the director at Bungie, I would leave it as is. Social media runs the gaming industry now. If more players are streaming it and making content, then the more the game will grow.

Edited by THEREALLONEWOLFx: 8/1/2018 10:28:26 AMBungie Let it be!! Let it be speaking words of wisdom let it be! The QP is the most fun I've had since launch not everyone deserves a participation trophy look what happened at launch!!

Explain why no latent memories popping up now I'm missing three not there. Bungie screwing over everyone?
-
Is the problem all the Hunters complaining about dying instantly after using the dodge ability?! #Masterstroke

So without SBMM I maybe have to try to win... SBMM won't be there to put me into teams where it gets my win lose to 50%. It use to do it so well that I could feed the other team and my team would still win because the matchmaker seemed to anticipate that I'd goof off and put me on a team that would carry me.
-
8 RepliesYou want my opinion, leave it as it is , if your getting stomped , take notes...
-
58 RepliesSince you are planning to do nothing about quickplay, which doesn’t matter anyway, hurry up & fix competitive by either implementing SBMM &/or removing point loss on defeat. The competitive playlist right now causes frustrations among most players & is unplayable, ruining the entire game experience, especially with a limited-time gun on the line. Our efforts from the beginning of the season are being put to waste due to terrible matchmaking algorithms that take a long time just to put you in a bad match where you are 90% likely to lose & waste 25+ minutes.

Ravenclaw915Guardian Down - old
Anyone else not getting their clan crucible engram? -
Keep it!!! This is literally the best thing for QP. It shouldn't be sweatier than Comp.
-
How come we spawn into games where we are down 143 to 72? That puts you at an automatic loss and a hug disadvantage as soon as you spawn in.
-
Quickplay should be a relaxed game mode. Save the SBMM for Comp. There should however be either a filter or playlist in place for newer guardians so they aren’t trampled by high level players the first time they load into the crucible. Maybe a playlist that is only accessible by levels 1-5, something that allows new players to get a feel for the crucible.

Sounds like a cover up for player base is so tiny we just have to throw everybody into the same pool.
