Hey all,
Today we’ve discovered an issue with Quickplay Matchmaking. We are actively investigating the depth of the issue, and currently believe that neither connection nor skill are being factored correctly when forming matches. PvP Design Lead Derek Carroll has more information on our next steps:
With the release of Update 1.2.3, we introduced 6v6 Quickplay with a bug that causes skill-matching and potentially connection-matching to fail in that playlist. This results in much faster – but lower-quality – matches than normal. Our plan for the immediate future is to take no immediate action, monitor the health of the playlist, take notes, and ready a potential fix. We will inform the community with our findings and if we make a change, you will be the first to know (just like this time).
This has been the greatest quickplay time of my life. Patch what you gotta patch...I'll always have the memories...
-
Leave as is. Quick matches and lots of fun. I get my butt kicked at times and not at others. Also it seems the stacked teams vs solo teams has been very much helped by this "bug". Leave as is bungie. This has been the most fun ive ever had in D2 pvp since launch. Loving it

1 ReplyYeah I knew something was different about Quickplay. I'm a mediocre PvP player on a good day but all of a sudden I started scoring at the bottom of my team almost every match. No biggie. I only play about 15 matches a week between my three character's so I can earn the milestone engram. I'm not delusional about my skill level, I stay away from Comp and Trials because I wouldn't want to hold my team back or make it too easy for the opposing team. Listen to the players who play a lot of PvP and set it up the way they like it. I'll still come back every week and do my best. Btw, Mayhem is a blast, I LMAO the whole time.

Today I was matched with 5 other average solo players against the highest stacked 6 man team I have ever seen. Some of the opponents had a +4 kda. We were pubstomped
-
@BungieHelp what going on we are on io for over 2.5h and kabal Event coming again 13 times in a Row how long u want us to wait for wisper quest?????????

2 RepliesDon't change it. I really don't understand how you can be that bad at this pvp where you don't get some decent scores. I thought I was average at best because of the SBMM and the 50/50 win ratio it creates. That's boring always used to have like 2 good games then it put me in a higher bracket and it was back to sweating bullets for quick play lol. Seemingly I'm actually a god at pvp because with this change I'm now mostly 1st or second on the board or I get smashed which I can take without any crying when the flip side is mostly kicking people's ass. This participation trophy generation need to wake up and actually try to learn to get better. If you have no desire to get better what you playing the pvp for anyway?

3 RepliesMatch making has been fast and good. Right from the start we all noticed the fatser match making times and better quality connections. Funny how Bungie sees "fixing" this as a priority and not fixing the magnitude of other issues plaguing this game. Disgusting. Gaming communism at it finest as always at bungo.
-
Of course CBMM should be fixed. However, keeping SBMM out of Quickplay seems to be a great change.

3 RepliesWith this bug brought the most fun I have had in Crucible in Destiny 2 throughout the last year. If you were to improve anything maybe the connection but do not add SBMM into the game, it will make things significantly less fun for people
-
6 RepliesEdited by cooljoe757: 7/28/2018 2:22:42 PMSince y’all apparently have no plan to fix quickplay (btw BLAHAHA!)....ya plan on fixing competitive any time soon? I mean seriously, you win two matches then lose 10. No progress to make at all. I’ve been stuck in the same 100 point range since the “fix.” At this rate I hope forsaken has a HELL of a lot of pve content because crucible has been garbage since d2 came out.
-
This is the most fun I've had in crucible in a long time. If I wanted to sweat I'd play comp. Please leave it the way it is. Crucible is fun again.
-
PLEASE keep SBMM out of quickplay. It is now a fun game mode!!
-
Just kill off pvp... we got into this mess of dual primaries and crap abilities because of “pvp balance”... Make pve great again!
-
13 RepliesFix matchmaking in the competitive playlist so it returns to SBMM pre-update &/or remove point loss when losing competitive matches. No one cares about quickplay.
-
As far as the connection quality goes, on average it isn’t any worse than it already used to be... P2P that doesn’t use region locked 100% connection based matchmaking is always going to be laggy and inconsistent no matter how you try to adjust it. More variety in the opponents skill level creates a more casual experience, and thats what quickplay should be. Leave it as is or fully remove SBMM.
-
This is the most fun I have ever had in the crucible. Quick play is for fun, recreational, casual play. There should be very little to no SBMM at all. Maybe focus on the regional matchmaking aspect of it but I would like to see random MM from a skill standpoint. You want to sweat, go play competitive. Thats what it is for right?
-
pvp lol , give raid matchmaking then nerf , after 90 days on the raid . nerf or fix , when lost millions users on even getting to endgame , and pvp now sucks guardians ass, even at 6 vr 6 for increase users . since your game do not registor even body shots ln better isp connections. You guys had it working on destiny 1 then went all fn backwards on destiny 2 so destiny 3 that no one getting going be stick figures.
-
2 RepliesHow about you just shutdown the game? Pretty obvious nobody cares about it at Bungie HQ and obviously the gaming community has gotten over it pretty fast so you can just mark this game up like Evolv and save everyone some time, money, and frustration. This game isnt worth it. Just give up.
-
All I will say is in Destiny 1 everyone in my clan was playing pvp every day because what ever your skill level you had fun, now with Destiny 2 match making no one in my clan or friends list will play pvp and i miss getting 6 friends together having fun and taking the p$$ out of who came bottom and getting the best rewards.
-
Wait, I thought matchmaking was always f-‘ed up. 1) stop matchmaking me with people in other continents during peak hours. 2) hit registration sucks. I’ll be hitting my mark and enemy doesn’t take damage. My ttk on someone else sucks while others 2 shot me w Suros Regime. 3) I have people on my friends list who are legionnaire on all game modes playing in stacked teams lowest guys 2+ kd (NOT kda or kad) and I get matched against them when people on my teams are all average stat solo blueberries (like me). This happened way before this stinking patch. Just give us dedicated server, or something that resembles a normal game. It is not my connection either, because my upload and download speed on ps4 is 200-500mbps. Also, I only play solo now because whenever I get in a team even wackier things will happen. I take it that if there are pre-made teams then the server will have to negotiate information between players that would not have been matchmade to begin with. Solution: Perhaps there is a parameter that will allow the player to dial in favor of connection or not, and can set how strict or narrow I want the match to adhere. The stricter the parameter, the longer the search will be. I won’t even mind if the game informs me of someone on my team doesn’t make the cut. I can at least decide whether I want to loosen my search parameters to accommodate a friend even if their connection sucks. But as of now, matchmaking sucks. Thanks for admitting it, but it’s not just recently that this is happening.
-
3 RepliesDon’t change it. It’s mainly CBMM now and feels Amazing.
-
i just came back to the crucible and havent had this much fun in a long time since destiny 1 year 1 so you gonna take the crucible away from me again -sigh- it was fun while it lasted i got my revenge on the people who like sbmm and ruin the crucible the first time
-
I honestly don't really have an issue with the current matchmaking that much. Connection is stable all the time and the matches themselves aren't that bad. Only thing I can think of is that there are a little too many level 20s and such in the games. Don't really like them on my team. They should be playing against other level 20s.
-
1 ReplyEdited by BarretOblivion: 7/28/2018 12:47:42 PMFirst off fix the darn connection side of the issue, no excuse for player's pvp experience be hurt by someone lagging their arse off. That being said Skill based matchmaking should be reserved for competitive EXCLUSIVELY. That is the entire point of competitive, but there are still issues with competitive. Turn off no radar on competitive, keep no radar for trials. The reason is that Trials is exclusively a team based competitive game, you have to connect with a full fireteam to participate, however, competitive is for ALL players that want to have competitive matches. Many players want to play solo, or maybe with one friend. There they should be going into competitive. Teams on the other hand should not be going in as a 3+ stack and bring Trials to a full week long playlist for the teams. That in my opinion is what we need to do. Quickplay should be where we shouldn't see only the "meta" and should be where we can have fun. Maybe you will get stomped maybe you will stomp. It happens, but making it skill based matchmaking defeats the purpose of competitive.
-
Oh, and will ya look at this! Destiny Tracker once again isn’t showing player participation numbers. https://destinytracker.com/ But I can tell you a few days ago PvP was at roughly 450k.
