Crucible Labs Feedback

If you have feedback on our latest experiment mode in Crucible Labs, please leave it here. The mode we are testing is Lockdown, and it will be available until the next weekly reset. Senior Designer Andrew Welden explained how it works in this weeks TWAB.
Lockdown is a new 4v4 round-based Competitive mode that, like Control, is about capturing and holding zones. Unlike Control, your only score comes from playing the objective. Those of you from the Taken King/Rise of Iron era know this mode’s predecessor, the Control variant “Zone Control.” Here’s how it plays out: Both teams start Lockdown with a “Progress” percentage of 0% displayed under the scoreboard. Once a team holds two zones, progress will begin ticking up for that team at a rate of 1% per second. There is no round timer—the first team to reach 100% will win the round, and the first to win three rounds will win the match. That’s not all, though—if a team can successfully capture all three zones, they will instantly win the round, regardless of each team’s progress state. A well-coordinated push from your opponents will always be dangerous, which means you need to stay focused on your objective. However, winning a round that way is not necessarily as simple as it might seem. To earn capture progress or win on the triple cap, you must hold uncontested zones. If a team holds two zones, you can fully halt their progress by contesting one or more zones (you’ll see “PROGRESS HALTED” display under the scoreboard to let you know this is happening). They won’t start earning score again until they clear you and your progress off the point(s). The same applies when going for the triple cap lockdown—the instant win only applies if all three zones are completely clear. We’ve seen some really exciting matches play out from this ruleset internally, and we hope you have similar experiences out in the wild!

[b]• What did you think about this mode? • Was anything confusing? • Did anything seem missing? • Was there a map it played better/worse on? • Were there spawning issues? • Were the rounds too short/too long? • Was there a weapon or other sandbox combination that affected the game in a negative way? So. Much. Fun. But suggestions: - Immediate or under 3 second respawns - Bugs with respawns cause players to wait up to 15 seconds before regenerating into a match - greater range of fire for cannons (angling upwards, not necessarily related to distance range) - Personally interested to see this mode without radar...

    • Scorched is a super fun relaxed way to play crucible. No pressure, just scorch cannons. Maybe buff blast radius or velocity or projectiles for that game mode only (if possible). Can’t wait for 6’s scorched!

    • I LOVE Scorched. I wish there was a team version though. That’d be a fun mode in my opinion. Also, can we get random elemental cannons when we spawn? Variety is the spice of life!

    • Scorched is a pretty fun mode. Nothing but scorch cannon destruction. What's not to like. Also, I think you guys should create more modes like this, so we can have a playlist similar to Halo Reach's action sack playlist.

    • After playing a few matches this is already my favorite gamemode, I love playing in third person and the scorch cannon makes it much more fun But here is things that need to be touched up on: Definitely increase the length of the game played about 8 matches time ran out on all of them Maybe I’m just bad at aiming (probably that) but there’s been times where it looks like I hit someone but it only does like 12 damage Since this gamemode is merely for fun why not add where when you pop a super instead of using your regular subclass super you can shoot the scorch cannon faster or maybe you even dual wield scorch cannons lol lets have some more fun with this mode!

      • Really good but this version of rumble SHOULD be 8 players imo. Agree with the redrawn comments too

      • I love it. Everything is perfect. At least for the rumble version. I even got an undefeated in it.

      • Scorched is the best game mode for PvP that Bungie has created so far. I could play it for hours. But there are some suggestions that I have that would improve the game mode. 1. Increase the time limit by maybe 1-2 minutes. Matches felt short and only 1 of my matches ended via the score limit. 2. Add instant respawn. I think by getting players right back into the action, it will improve the quality of matches. 3. Now I'm not too sure of this so take this with a grain of salt, but some maps were a bit too small for this game mode. But that's just me. Other than that, Scorched is amazing.

        • Wings of Sacred Dawn don't work with the Scorch Canons and this is literally the only time I've wanted to use that exotic, please fix.

        • Couldn’t find the mode enjoyable due to error with spawns. My timer was going down to zero, but I was required to wait what seemed an additional 5-10 seconds before spawning. Also, hunters with triple jump are annoying.

        • Very nice gamemode. There are still a few things I would prefer to be changed: 1) The scorch cannon should be able to aim all the way up 2)increased respawn time Other than that, it’s perfect.

        • Ever thought of implementing a matchmaking system similar to Overwatchs’ LFP; to let players source similar levels and skills? Have you not realised the app doesn’t work and causes toxic behaviour and pretty much killed ToTN and the game in general, or is it that you like the fall off in player base to rinse and repeat?

        • I like the concept of scorched, but it was too slow. I would not play it on a regular basis. The respawn needs to be instant (no timer), dont care about safe spawns, just get me up as fast as possible. i do not like 6 man pvp. It takes too long for me to find someone to shoot. 12 would be much better.

        • Fun. Lots. Of. Fun. HOWEVER: - Spawns should be instant - Blast radius of the cannons seem inconsistent, could be me, could be you. - I think it should be a little more...chaotic: - More people, try it out will ya? - 6v6, or larger lobbies of 8 may work - spawns suck. Please try and fix that. It's awful spawning in front of someone who's about to shoot. Overall, it's a great and fun idea that simply needs work. You guys have GOT to start making more of these types of party gamemodes. Hive swords, javelins, swords only, sniper lobbies, etc. How is that in all of Destiny's lifespan, there hasn't been a single non-serious gamemode with the exception of mayhem?

          • Scorched is good in theory and can be fun but I've actually found it to be a laggy mess. The amount of times I've hit someone in the face with a scorch cannon or blown up next to them and they've taken absolutely no damage is laughable, especially when I can die from a blast that was 10 yards past me.

            • Scorched is fun. Maps with large spaces fit the aerial combat everybody defaults to much better than cramped ones, but also make combat a drawn-out game of "The Floor is Lava/Exploding" against an equally evasive foe. It's probably a stretch, but a map dedicated to this game type would be a lot of fun, even if it's just a repurposed section of a patrol zone or a bunch of (destructible/disappearing?) floating platforms in space. Hunters and Titans each have their own mobile strengths they can play towards, but slower-moving Warlocks can very easily be outplayed and demolished, especially when Lion Rampant Titans and St0mp-EE5 Hunters are on the prowl. Seeing as there's no benefit to not use Attunement of Sky, maybe lock Warlocks into that subclass&tree and enable Phoenix Dash? Scorch Cannons handle okay for the most part, but the inability to look straight down while carrying one is never felt more strongly than in this mode. The respawn times are too slow for the frenetic pace of this mode. It could do with Mayhem instant spawns. All in all, a fun but iffy game mode that hearkens back to Action Sack that I'll enjoy playing this week and can't wait to try the next version of.

            • Holy crap, Scorched is what crucible needs to be. Fun as hell, no concern for OP weapons or abilities, just you, a gib cannon, and a buncha bad motha's with their own gib cannons. No worry about balance, no matchmaking worry, no nothing. Just pure, unadulterated fun. This is the only time I've not only done my Call To Arms right away, but kept playing after the fact. There are some issues, but nothing terribly cumbersome. Mainly, it seems as though titans and warlocks have a huge floaty advantage. Perhaps with some more time in here we'll see all the classes find a balance, but titans and warlocks are definitely the biggest threat currently. Also, some of these maps aren't great for this mode, particularly seeing as it is currently a rumble game type. Some maps are just way to big. Others, though small enough for rumble, leave me feeling claustrophobic with the tight hallways and such. You need to be able to move, and unless you're outside on a map like burnout, you're not going to have a good time. Rounds feel short and frenetic, leaving the respawn timer a little lacking. I want to get back in the action immediately. This may be a design choice, and it isn't necessarily bad, but it was something I noticed. One strange thing I saw, there appeared to be a scorch cannon just floating on one of the maps, no way to interact with it, no tooltips, just an odd artifact. Finally, can we get this mode in private matches? Pretty please? I can imagine lots of fun to be had there. Good job guys. More insane fun, less intense sweatfest competitive bullshit that very few people care about.

              • One word: commitment. The short explaination is this: There is no commitment to gear (Weapons and Armor). This makes the game unpersonal and shallow. This is the point, everybody wants changes, but every change brings only short term solutions. Nothing really matters because YOU don’t need to commit. All of your gear is to easy to exchange, there are no repercussions. This is missing. Not a new game mode or new weapons. Not a new raid or new milestones. These things only matter when you have a deep game where your decisions and your time investment matters. Any Questions?

                • I loved this mode! I loved that you took away supers, melees and grenades and restricted one weapon. We need more "just for fun" modes like this and I have an idea for one. Laser Tag Try it with 3v3, 4v4 and 6v6, beck 5v5. Use the same structure as Scorched, no supers, melees or grenades and restrict weapons to one per team. Here's where it gets fun. Have blue team restricted to only the Coldhart and red team restricted to the Prometheus Lens. Balance the damage output between the two and maybe make them work the same and there you go. You can have laser tag clash or control. Most modes might work actually. Anyway love Scorched and love how this points to more dub unique ways to play crucible. Don't forget to give Shaxx some lines unique to the mode. Good job guys. 😀😀👌👌👍

                • Scorched is the best game mode you’ve come up with yet. It’s the type of chaotic non-competitive fun I’ve been looking for. It has the potential to have funny moments and some cool plays. While there isn’t an interesting objective, it’s okay because the gameplay can stand up on its own two feet. This is also the first step in a process of opening up the doors to endless possibilities. Anything is possible in crucible, and we don’t have to be limited to just FPS “team deathmatch”. There are other fun possibilities out there.
