Please bring back Intellect, Discipline, and Strength stats so that we can use our abilities more often!

The D2 stats, Restoration, Mobility, and Resilience are either unmeaningful or useless. Also, many people consider restoration to be the only important stat to be maxed out because they felt it was working as intended, and the most vital stat for survival rather than mobility and resilience. The devs keep talking about "making our guardians powerful" just by adding more subclass supers which I think are a lame excuse to try to copy the Taken King inclusion of content, but what they should do is remove the current D2 stat system and replace it with the D1 stat while also reworking armour and maybe subclasses. Please make D1 stat system return because we can't stand how our abilities charge so slow and at the same time feel weak (like melees take three hits to kill), and it would help fix the Time To Kill (TTK) problem by decreasing it! What the D1 stats did: Discipline: Decreases grenade cooldown. Intellect: Decreases super cooldown. Strength: Decreases melee coldown. These stats made you use your guardian's abilities more often which is what made you truly feel powerful as you were like a real superhero. What the D2 stats did: Restoration: Increases recovery speed. Mobility: Increases movement speed. Resiliance: Decreases how much damage taken. The only stat works are restoration, and maybe resilience, but overall this stat system is not great. edit 1: Please feel free to upvote if you agree and want to make this suggestion seen, or downvote if you disagree! edit 2: Thanks for the support! • Let me tell you a story about D1 and its feedback community. Not to long ago, on a forum much like this one, the feedback community sturred, and every boy and girl cried: "Destiny 1 is ability spam simulator" To which bungie replied "We are increasing ability recharge times, simplifying the subclasses and changing the stat system" To which the feedback community if d2 cried: "Nobody asked for that" And everyone was miserable. The End.

      • I agree, in addition to that to really add to the rpg elements of the game(this has probably been said but i havent been through this whole thread) they could have all six stats be a part of the game to really let the players create true "builds". Having a devour warlock with a focus on recovery and discipline so htye can keep there health up and get those grenades that heal them. This is just a thought and i would love to see this implimented.

      • I've made a post before about this but, I would personally like it if they made Ikora have an exotic consumable with a small drop rate (3% or such) that permanently reduced the cooldown for a specific ability (grenade, melee super. Idk about class) but with a limit ofc. closer to D1 levels (than D2 anyways) and just make it so all daily challenges, pve/pvp give vanguard research tokens instead of the various other tokens.

        • I don't mind the present system. The things you mentioned are achieved with mods and armour perks anyway. I feel recovery, resilience and mobility are more universal and basic and fits better.

          • You could put mods on the armor that could lower the cooldown of grenade and melee abilities so there's that. Yeah we don't have intellect but the masterwork weapons can help with super cooldown. What should be done is have the other armor stats stand out a bit more

          • No, the problem isn't D1 stats, it's that the things that let you use abilities more often are orbs and you have to pack to get abilities are outclassed by other things in the game. For example, it's way more important to have stable gunfire than a little buff on your grenade cooldown, so nobody ever uses those mods. It's way more important to switch weapons faster than stumble around trying to make Aeon gear work. For some classes, their class ability just doesn't even matter that much in pvp. For your super, there are orbs, but even these don't mean anything outside of pve. The stats of D1 don't matter as much as customization, however, the customization of D2 is just an illusion. We all know the best mods and we put them on, ignoring the rest.

          • Getting a twelve tier build with different Exotic armor pieces on every subclass was a endgame activity in the original Destiny. Waiting for the weekly reset in the hope that a vendor would have a armor piece for sale with the specific max intellect, discipline or strength stats that you we're looking for was another advantage of the original system.

          • jesus christ it isn't painful getting nice looking armor that turns out to be mobility! The D1 system was better due to the fact that any combination wasn't bad it was more personal preference or situational.

          • The main issue is that Destiny 2 aborted their path on RPG. Resilience , Mobility etc should be design as skill points and players should have ability to adjust their skill points from encounter to encounter and create different skill load outs. I also would like to see Discipline , Intellect return however mod system should also be allowed to improve the stats that come with the armour and armour sets. I strongly hope that the new improved mod system will make current mods better so that we don't have to keep multiple armour sets for solar , arc grenade recharge times. There shall be only one type that supposed to work with all burn types and the benefits must improve greatly. Each mode shall at least increase generation speed around 25%

          • I haaaaate that mobility, resillience, and recovery is tied to your armor. We should have a set number of points (maybe 15) that we can distribute amongst the three stats as we see fit.

Edit: You know, removing the states was never the problem with D2? It was Bungie's unwillingness to create characters as they were intended to be, mainly due to the fact that they thought PvP "balance" was more important than creating Destiny. They spent this entire year wasting a gamers time more than anything else when it comes to creating this game. The lack of effort on creating characters that can improve their abilities throughout this entire year has hurt the game more than anything else. There is a skill tree created for a reason and when perks are set not really improving the characters abilities it makes for a boring game. Especially when the rewards in a game like this majorly lack incentive. I mean, how many times can one run the same repetitive content getting hundreds of the exact same duplicates that do nothing for this game and call that fun?

                • I agree that I’d like to be able to use my abilities more often but I don’t want them to make that happen by going back to the system of having additional stats on armor be what achieves that. I’d rather be able to upgrade the abilities to use them more often and make them more powerful by using them and getting kills with them and by doing so progress the abilities in a more permanent manner that wouldn’t be undone simply by changing my armor.

                • Not trying to start a Warframe vs destiny fight but the mod system in Warframe let's you customize your character (and weapons, companion, etc...) the way you want with noticeable impacts. If you want to build tanky, go for it or there are mods that increase odds of finding extra materials if you want to allocate points for farming activities as a trade off to other stats. Some enemies pretty much instantly strip you shields so rebalancing mods before those encounters to favor something else that is helpful makes a noticeable difference. I lost all interest in d2 armor since I couldn't tell a bit of difference with any of it. Even the exotics feel less noticeable than destiny armor.

                  • I'd like a combination of the two. Allow customisable skill tress that can adjust those stats, like the code's or their class equivalent in D1. Then leave the stats on the armour, as they are now, but with more impact. I genuinely want to feel quicker in light armour or more tanky in heavy gear. But as with all stats in D2, the difference is only felt at the extreme end of the scale.

                  • The only reason I voted no was because the whole intellect, strength and discipline didn't make much sense and didn't accurately describe what they did. More of a vocabulary thing for me.

I wouldn't mind the old stats coming back, but I think the plan was for mods to take their place. Maybe if they ever finish the mod system we will know for sure. Back to stats though I was hoping D2 would of expanded the system. If I had a say it would be more this way. Hp increases max health Shields grant an over shield and increases shield recover. Armor reduces incoming damage. Regeneration increases health recovery. Notice shield and health recovery are different. So depending on your build they can both work at the same time, or only one. Dexterity increases weapon handling and reload. Agility increases walk, sprint and strafe speed as well as jump height. Luck increases crit damage Strength increases melee damage. I thought of putting melee charge rate here as well. Intelligence would increase super charge rate and damage Armaments increases grenade charge time and ammo reserves.

                      • The current system would be find if there was a bigger effect for the stat. Recovery you can feel but the other two effects can be easily missed.

                        • No need. the new mod system is consolidating the cooldown mods so there broad strokes instead of specifics (ex melee cooldown mod.) they along with other mods are also getting buffed to have a greater impact on gameplay.

                          • I believe utilizing both D1's and D2's armor attributes would be beneficial to our Guardians. Then, utilize a vendor (NOT. TESS.) to provide an item for a re-roll, at a small, yet noticeable amount of legendary shards. Xur could sell bundles of them for a good deal, but there's a limit to how many bundles an account can buy for the weekend. (I.E. 10 bundles of 3 per weekend) However, that'd need some serious careful planning going in to ensure no one would be abusing the feature, or vise versa, the feature abusing the player. Great post!
