This is a sentiment I see expressed a lot and I'm not sure I agree with it. Of course they care about money, any large game developer like Bungie has to. But despite all of D2's issues (which are more complex than "bungie just wants money"), I dont think Destiny 1 or 2 in anyway reflect the characteristics of a money grubbing game. Eververse, while arguably annoying, is not in your face with constant advertisements. The things you can buy there, besides their aesthetic value, do not add any real advantages to the game.
But I constantly see people complaining that bungie just cares about money. Destiny 2 had/has issues (which they seem to be setting straight), but the argument that they were just trying to con us into pre orders also does not make sense to my mind. Why would they want to con anyone into buying a game they wouldn't want to come back to? Their mistakes are obviously not reducible to a desire for money. One could possibly argue that they dont listen to the community, but I'm not convinced of this either. If they didn't care about what we have to say, then why did they let the whole #removeeververse debacle get traction? Why do they still let us openly express your opinions however critical they happen to be?
Despite all the ways in which I can criticize bungie and or Destiny I still think they are an open and tolerant developer that strives to have a community that is not just an echo chamber. I know I'm going to get hate for all this, but they fact that you are here on b.net expressing your dissatisfaction kinda proves my point. If they truly just cared about money they would either ban you or just shut down the forums all together.
Do You Think Bungie Really Only "Just Cares About Money"?
In simple terms = The creators and devs definitely care more about the game, while the accountants and marketing care more about the bottom line.
