Everyone except Zavala seemingly forgot that Rasputin is a murderous AI who caused the deaths of hundreds... seriously, is Ana off her rockers? You don't trust massive intelligent Russian War AI's who have a track record of murder.

I think that was kind of explained in the campaign. He is based on mars but had some control over the earth warminds. He just knew he was being attacked. I could be way wayy off though.
-
They retconned the warminds in D2. Apparently, there was only ever one warmind, that being Rasputin. Anyways, it's all still retconned. And Rasputin seemed to be plenty aware of what was going on at Earth during those times. He managed to talk to us even...
-
The way I thought of it was he had sensors and they just would go off but he didn't know what the threat exactly was. Hence the iron Lord's and Siva. Because his main warmind brain(?) was on Mars.
-
Well, he understood the situation enough to have a brief conversation with the Iron Lords AND to know that the Iron Lords were guardians. Yes, as he was ordering the mass killing of the Iron Lords, he was perfectly aware that they were guardians. And later on, when we came around, he was able to have full conversations with us. Not that we understood his Russian, but he apparently understood us.
-
I mean I’d attack the iron lords too if they busted into my domain wielding superpowers and guns.
-
Yes, but the Iron Lords aren't his only victims. There have been implications of him murdering many, many guardians besides the Iron Lords. Zavala even says during a strike in D1 that every guardian that's entered any of Rasputin's facilities have ended up dead; even those who entered to propose diplomatic relations.

Edited by LegendaryLegacy: 7/3/2018 2:26:12 PMDid they knock on the bunker? speak Russian and say may I please come in? Each time they tried they legitimately broke into his bunker. They didn’t just walk through the front door they either blew the door open or hacked their way in.
-
We don't know that. Zavala also talks about Rasputin's lack of empathy to guardians or the City. The implications back in D1 were that many guardians have tried to establish contact and communications with him, but Rasputin would kill them regardless, even if they talked to each other. Zavala made it clear that Rasputin was a huge asset to the City and that we could benefit from an alliance, but that he's also dangerous and has done some shady things. Rasputin in D1 was someone you did not want to mess with. He was basically Mendicant Bias from Halo, or Hal 9000. He was a rogue AI with zero morals.
-
He also was a fragmented AI who experienced the collapse firsthand. Again guardians weren’t a thing when he was originally around so huge devastating event then being of unknown nearly insurmountable power show up? No way in hell is he gonna be peaceful especially when he is firsthand experience with anyone was them breaking into his territory. Saladin already established that they tried and were the first to do so. I highly doubt Rasputin just let him in. Because defense were set up and they kept fighting through them if the being you are trying to talk to keeps trying to keep you away get away from him. He’ll talk when he wants too.
-
Again, I'm not talking about the Iron Lords. There were plenty of other deaths at the hands of Rasputin. Yes, Rasputin did go through some mind-fracturing sh**. However, that doesn't excuse killing anything and everything that enters your domain centuries after you've woken up. He knew what guardians were at the time of him killing the Iron Lords and he knew what guardians were when he killed the others. He wasn't confused as to their purpose, he just wanted them flushed from his systems. Like I said, no morals. I'm not arguing that Rasputin didn't have his reasons. I'm not saying Rasputin was completely unjustified. All I'm saying is that Rasputin can be dangerous. That's it.
-
He never went outside his bunker to attack anyone though. If anyone comes into your territory without your permission or blessing that’s all the reason to kill. No different than animals in the wild or even people.

Sure. But let's say you have this neighbor whose always been a bit weird and antisocial. One day, your car breaks down and you NEED to get to your family's house. Your mom has cancer and she's in pretty bad shape. So, you walk up to your neighbor and find that his door is open. You call out to him for help but he doesn't answer. His car is in his driveway and the lights are on. You enter his house and, while yes you are trespassing, you aren't showing any signs of aggression. You keep asking for help while making it clear that you're in need. What does your neighbor do? He grabs his shotgun and murders you. Maybe he was right. Maybe he has schizophrenia and he's made it clear that he's mentally disturbed. Perhaps it was your fault for entering his house. But why the hell would you give a man like that the keys to everyone's house in the neighborhood? That's insane! You're putting everyone at risk! Replace the old man with Rasputin, schizophrenia with a fractured mind, your mom's cancer with the City's desperateness, the broken down car with the enemies that are enclosing on the City, and the keys to all the houses with a new Warsat network. This all sounds ridiculous. Why? Because it is. No one in their right mind would unconditionally trust Rasputin.
-
That’s a pretty extreme example when comparing me to essentially an immortal warrior godslayer. On that note why do I only have one neighbor? If even as desperate as I am decide to risk it all on chance I won’t. Hell my mom damn sure wouldn’t want me to put my life in danger just trying to get to her. She’s probably kill me instead. I’d call an Uber. Or since warsats drop fairly often I’d pull a Fallen and scavenge what I could. Or show an offering of peace without entering the territory. Desperate or not if there is a lower chance of survival and and there is also pure uncertainty on whether or not it would be helpful. I’d opt to learn more from a distance. Gather whatever information from areas that don’t require as risk. Like mars for example.
-
Exactly. The City made the mistake of approaching Rasputin. So they stopped. That's why Zavala is against the whole Rasputin thing. He'd rather call an Uber instead of entering the neighbor's house again...
