You don't know the slightest thing about how exos are rebooted, he will come back as Cayde-7.

Edited by kelloak: 6/25/2018 9:06:26 AMRebooting an Exo is a way to combat DER, or Disassociative Exo-body Rejection. DER occurs when the Exo's human mind rejects the Exo body, ultimately leading to death. Clovis Bray found ways to subdue and decrease the odds of DER in two ways: by giving Exos "humanisms," the desire to eat, reproduce, ect, and as a last measure, reboots. Rebooting an Exo causes them to lose many of their memories, and will often leave the rebooted Exo with a different personality, a "new life." They won't remember (except for maybe a feeling, or a small flash of memory,) their previous relationships, personality, or actions. An Exo who is not rebooted once DER sets in will fragment, misfire, see visions of the Deep Stone Crypt and/or Collapse, and eventually, die. Clovis Bray scientists estimated the number of times and Exo could be rebooted to be around 20. (Or, why Banshee-44 is so fragmented and forgetful. He's been rebooted what is considered many, many times.) Cayde-6 has been rebooted 6 times. We know he doesn't have much memory of his previous lives, human or Exo. Cayde does, however, know much of what he did and felt from his journals he left for future versions of himself. When he was risen by his Ghost, he found letters on his body written by him to someone named Ace. He has no memory of Ace, but 'writes,' or journals, to Ace anyways, feeling it something he should continue. Through his journals, caches, and fragmented memories, Cayde knows he was once human, with a family, and believes Ace to have been his son. He knows at least part of one of his Exo lives was spent body-guarding for an Ishtar Collective scientist, Maya Sundaresh. Exo are not well understood, their inner workings currently known by only the Ghosts. If, maybe, there was an alternative, less destructive solution to DER, it was lost with much of the knowledge from the Golden Age.
