With what we’ve seen from the Story Reveal, I Feel like Bungie is parodying the story of the Last Word, and the Thorn.

Let’s break it down, starting with the beginning, Last word and Thorn. I’m pretty sure everyone here knows the story, but the more I see this trailer, I get the feeling we’re walking in Shin Malphur’s steps. In the old story, Dredgen Yor had killed Jaren Ward, wielded of the Last word. Then, he had given both Jarens Ghost and The Last Word to Shin. Why is unknown to me. After a few years, Shin was driven by rage and revenge. After catching up with Dredgen Yor, Shin gunned him down with his new found power, the Golden Gun. Now, fast forward to Forsaken. I get the feeling that this story is now relevant again. Uldren, either driven by greed, hate, anger, or possibly all three, has basically gone to the dark side. For -blam!- sakes he looked like Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith. He then takes the Ace of Spades, kills Cayde, and decides to basically taunt us by leaving behind Cayde’s dead body and dead ghost. So we go on a revenge path, either by forging new weapons, such as that western revolver we’ve seen in gameplay, or that new Thorn looking type of hand cannon, to try and exact our vengeance. The way this has been done is expertly crafted. I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a few references to the story. And before you say “It’s folklore!” There are still a few things considered Canon. The books of sorrow, Battle of Six fronts, and of course, Shin Malphur and Dredgen Yor. Leave your thoughts below. TLDR:
Read the damn post.
