I'll say it now, Cayde-6 needs to die to bring some conviction back to the story and give the player some reason to fight. But, if we have to have the ghost talk for the guardians instead of them actually having a voice and true feelings for the loss I'm afraid it'll just feel empty and half baked.

Edited by ClovenTrack620: 6/15/2018 2:35:37 AMguardians used to talk quite alot in D1, they spoke to the reef guard & both Uldren and the Queen when they first met, they had a quick talk with the Exo Stranger, said a few words to Cayde6 over the radio in the cosmodrome, we see them speak to the ghost in multiple ocasions and we even asked the Speaker a couple of questions upon arriving to the tower. Pretty simple dialogue but still much better than what we have now, and having the ghost speak for us is kind of lame, hopefully that wont be the case in Forsaken
-
Lol. Take a peek at 11:47 in the video and let me know if you still think Bungie should make us talk.
-
A silent protagonist can work, and be done very well. They act as a blank slate for the audience/player to project upon. That said... Destiny 2 did it terribly. It works when the character is a "man/person of action". They speak with their/your actions as opposed to words. Problem with Destiny 2 is they kept putting the character into situations where you -expect- them to talk, where they should as they are, for instance, asked direct questions and... then they don't. It becomes awkward. It could work IF Bungie didn't put the character in those situations, yet they did it for pretty much every single cutscene. It was incredibly poor writing.

I don't know about the darker tone OP. But I do know this, that once again our Guardian will be in situations where they will be asked a question and instead will stand there liking like a moron. Instead our Ghost, who has the emotional maturity of a 7yr old (and humor just as bad), will do the talking for us :(
-
Hate to say it but I highly doubt we will be getting our voices back. Instead the annoying little light will be doing all of the talking for us :)
-
Lol, they won't. After all, making content is super hard. How can we as consumers paying $150+ for a $60 game expect them to have a script for the main character as well??

Edited by CANNON_JONNY: 6/15/2018 2:48:08 PMIt's our fault Cayde gets greased. We could have yelled "Look out!", but, well, you know.
-
PLEEEEEASE Bungie do not cheapen Cayde's death by using our ghost to lament his death instead of our actual guardian.
-
How's your sister?

Didn't you hearthey are adding actual dialog options in the for of emotes. You will be able to emote in response to anything that is said to you during conversations and the npcs will react accordingly.
-
If we never say another word, when Cayde dies we have to say something.
-
Uldren: "I killed cayde, what do you have to say guardian." Guardian: "..............." Ghost: You're going down Thats basically how its gonna go
-
A mute protagonist is a huge back step for D2.
-
Is it just me that isn’t bothered if the guardian is mute or not... I do wish that failsafe was tho
-
A Milford Man should neither be seen nor heard...
-
Considering bungie put the most significant part of the story into the trailer, I believe that speaks volumes as to how important they think the story is! So I very much doubt a line will be uttered from us!
-
Personally I think they should bring back Peter Dinklage back and make him voice every single character in the game
-
Can’t. You’ve now taken a vow of silence until all of the murders have been given the vengeful justice they deserve. Unfortunately, that won’t happen until Matilda year 1 of Destiny 3, if you’re lucky.

voiced protagonists ruin games

Uldren: "What's your last word, Cayde's guardian?" Me : * Sigh*
-
The Vanguard: Cayde’s death affects us all in different ways. His death has left a hole in the Vanguard and in our hearts. Do you feel the same way, Guardian? Guardian: ... Ghost: Yeah, he says he’s so sad. Boo hoo, Lol rawr, I’m so random xD. OwO Let’s go kill Uldren so he goes from Awoken to Sleepin’. *Bungie proceeds to win the Game Award for Best Writing in a Game

Edited by l Cadi l: 6/13/2018 11:13:31 AMThe silent guardian would be fine if there weren't questions directed at us that require a response. The cringe when zavalla asks "What do you say gaurdian?" and you just look at your ghost like "holy shit, he can see me?" was a perfect example of bad writing for a silent protagonist. If zavalla had simply said "Are you in gaurdian?" then a nod would have been a suitable response. Bungie needs to work on the dialogue a lot.

I am the guardian I play so I have my own voice! I find it immersion breaking when you first person character has a voice when its meant to be your alter ego.
