It doesn't matter what the price is. Bungie has spent so much time and effort looking backward to fix their problems, they are being left behind. This franchise is stale and will get run over during the next year by all the quality games coming out.

Just to make a point, genre doesn't matter. People have finite time and money. I only have so much time a week for gaming. If I am playing fallout, skyrim, borderlands, monster hunter world, what does it matter? That's time not spent on Destiny. Kelly, you reeeeeeally need a chill pill. You like the game, fine, but stop ramming your opinion down people's throat please. I play D2 most days and the playerbase has dwindled noticeably, with a small boost since warmind. Deal with it

This franchise has already fought off four years worth of "Destiny killers'. Its not going anywhere. 1. Forsaken is releasing two months ahead of the fall "juggernaut" Red Dead Redemption 2. 2. Almost all the games that are said to set to "kill" Destiny are themselves games with very little replay value. Who's still talking about God of War 4? 3. None of Destiny's REAL competition is set to release for another 9 months. Anthem looks good, but still hasn't addressed the issue of end-game and replayabillity. The Division 2s trailer look so much like the one Ubisoft trotted out for the first game, that it gave me indigestion. Because a SHIT TON of things that were in the D1 E3 trailer...NEVER made it to the actual game. Which goes to show you just how TONE DEAF Ubisoft can be at times.
-
Where are your players then? This forum is littered with "my clan is dead" and "my friends don't play anymore" posts. You can speculate these people will come back for Forsaken but that's just wishful thinking. 1. RDR will dent Forsaken pretty hard. 2. Overwatch and Fortnite seem to have solid replayability and are kicking D2s ass. 3 RDR is 5 months away and will fill in before Anthem and Division arrive. Also Forsaken will be old new by the time RDR is out. Anthem endgame - patience, we'll see. Destiny is already in the toilet. It won't take much to flush it.

Edited by BarretOblivion: 6/11/2018 3:54:17 PMDon't say Overwatch and Fortnite are the reason why Destiny 2's playerbase are hurting. They are both two very different genre of FPS's, after all, what appeal do they have towards the PvE crowd? None. Destiny has always had more population when it comes to PvE and saying "Read Dead Redemption 2 will kill it" shows you don't know what genre of game Destiny 2 is. RDR 2 is not an MMO or a MMO-like game, Destiny is a MMO-like game so MMOs, Anthem, Division, and Borderlands are Destiny's true competitors right now. That is a fact. Anthem has its own issues with mismanagement going on that has been reported, sorry but Anthem is more like a closed world Borderlands or Monster Hunter World type game than a Psuedo MMO game. Division 2 is the only true competitor to Destiny 2, but Division is a more methodical "hardcore" focused game so it has its own subset of a playerbase. Destiny 2 will likely be fine, right now there are only 2 MMOs on the market for console that have been stealing D2 players. FFXIV and ESO.

Borderlands 3 though

Edited by BarretOblivion: 6/11/2018 6:22:01 PMWell we won't get news about Borderlands 3 this E3. :( They pulled it at the last minute for some reason. Hopefully PAX is where we will see the announcement. Just found an article saying Borderlands 3 will be delayed till 2020.
-
Well, now I’m hurt :(

Relax Don, you're creating windmills to fight in your own head. You can probably lower your blood pressure by not putting words in other people's mouth so you can support your own arguments. Now, regardless of genre, D2 is swirling the toilet bowl. I don't care if it's a MMO, RPG, card game or lawn darts that's doing it. Destiny is stale and going down. Time to short ATVI.
-
"my clan is dead" = poor clan management.
-
Or rather a dwindling player base.
-
your clan probably "dwindled" away because it's PvE only. your clan leader only went as far as CoO, and you didn't even take that step. poor clan management at its finest.
-
You know what they say about assuming. You should take a step back. The playerbase is dwindling. That's about product quality not clan management.
-
during CoO there were 8.3 million registered users. today's there's 9.1 million. dwindling?
-
You're looking at the wrong metric - but I'm sure you knew that. I'm "registered" and haven't played in months. Yes, dwindling.
-
registered users went up 100k since your last reply.
-
2700 pigs learned to fly since your last post. See, pulling stats from your arse is fun.
-
And this registered still hasn't played in that same span of time. How many others quit playing since then?
-
DTR showed 8.3 mil. registered and 190k playing after CoO launched. now DTR is showing 9.2 mil. registered and 1.1 mil. playing. funfact: gamers stop playing games everyday. the real question developers face is "will they stop buying."
-
Capitulation. I knew you'd come around.
-
considering players are still buying Destiny 2 and DLCs, i haven't "come around" to anything.

https://destinytracker.com/ Destiny 2 exchanged a hardcore player base for a more casual one....and is doing fine from an economic standpoint. Bungie just wants that first player base back, because their SECONDARY mission is "community building".... ...and they can't accomplish that goal with the more casual base that Destiny 2 attracted. As you can see, the player engagement numbers are back up the level of that seen during the best times of Year 3 of D1....and are HOLDING for the last month. So the notion that any other game is going to "undermine" Destiny isn't born out by any experience to date. As Destiny 2 showed, the only thing that is capable of "killing" Destiny or even crippling it is...... BUNGIE. By losing sight of the identity of the game....and what it is their players want from it. Especially now that Bungie seems to be finally willing to accept that the PVE side of the game is what is truly fresh and innovative...and that the PVP side of the game is dated, and is holding the game back. Every move that Bungie has made in the last 6 mos points toward them leaning HARD into the maximizing the PVE experience, and de-emphasizing PVP somewhat. Which, imo, is a move that is LONG overdue.
