There's no such thing as plastic guns. I was around when the Glock 17 (the boogeygun that started the whole mess) was introduced. It had a pound of steel in it, and would not have passed a metal detector.
I'm sure they'll make whatever safety concessions are necessary for your diabetic friend.
But the clear backpack thing sucks. I'd be mad if my privacy was being taken, too.

Oh, gross. Like I said, no privacy. And the sad thing is, it won't make you any safer from school shooters. These measures never do.
