I miss progressing through leveling your weapon up by using it and unlocking all the mods/attachments for it. Anyone else? Any chance it comes back?
-
I think most people just spammed Motes of Light to level there weapons/armour, I know I did
-
Hell no. One of the best thing D2 changed along with removing random rolls
-
I do.
-
I most certainly do not. "Cool, I just got this awesome hand cannon from the Vault of Glass! Boy did we work hard and struggle for a while, but we did it! Oh....I have to level it up still? And I have to run the raid over and over to get the materials to upgrade it? Well that's no fun" People keep complaining about "artificial grind" and I gotta say, having to level up weapons is probably the textbook definition.
-
I miss feeling like you had something invested in Your gun. I miss good perks and unique looking weapons. I miss grinding for an amazing weapon that wasn't the same as everyone else's. I miss the time and effort meaning I either looked better, was more powerful, or was ranking up something. I miss changing shades without going broke, leveling up my guns without it costing me money, and being kick ass. I just want my time to matter again.
-
Nope, dont miss it. I remember leveling up stuff and having to actually gather materials for stuff. It was a tedious task.
-
Motes of light bruh
-
Oh hell no!!!
-
No, I don't miss levelling weapons. I guess if Bungie got really lazy with thinking of ways to artificially increase the replay ability of D2 for those hamsters who are missing their wheels they might look at it.
-
Yes. The random perks needing unlocked was a great system.
-
-blam!-kkkkkkkkkkkk no. Leveling up weapons is pure horseshit. Not only do you have to grind and hope shitty RNG gives it to you, then you have to spend a shit ton of time getting the perks. Only to find out it's not that good as you hoped. Colossal time waste.
-
Oh hell yeah
-
I miss it. It made your weapons feel far more special. When you had a fully upgraded max light level gun with perks you spent hours to get it felt like a trophy or sometimes just a awesomely lucky drop. But either way you remember the effort youd put into your guns and armor.
-
Those were the days, huh? 😁
-
God no. Well not in Y1.. Cost to many motes and the progression was slow.. It did get better as the game went on though.
-
Absolutely not. That system was awful.
-
No. I enjoy not having to farm mats.
-
I remember after 4 months praying for gjally and finally getting it to drop from Crota and then smashing every vanguard and crucible bounty to level it up. Was such anticipation until unlocking wolf pack rounds, then the fun began. I agree with few other posts in here that random rolls with stronger perks would have to be in the game to unlock the intrigue of certain combinations of perks. If you got a duplicate better devils currently there would be no need to xp it up because we know what it does unless there was more resources given back for dismantling a fully levelled item. Perhaps for deleting a fully levelled item you receive a masterwork core regardless of the item was already a masterwork or not. The xp required to level an item would have to be decently balanced as not for the system to be open to ridiculous farming but also rewarding enough that if you levelled an item to test it but are not impressed that the return of resources for dismantling it are fair. I hope for random rolls and stronger perks more so than xp levelling but the 2 concepts can work in perfect synergy for being able to keep a good economy in d2. Perhaps xp is not the answer but specific requirements for each node must be completed. Much like exotic masterwork requirements. An example would be if a gun had outlaw on it, when outlaw is the next perk to be unlocked then it requires 50-100 precision kills. There could also be an item that is purchasable for a large but fair amount of a rarer material and that item could auto unlock a perk once you are up to that perk on the item. There are so many possibilities in a system that allows upgrades and options to keep the cycle moving. Unfortunately bungies previous statement that content is hard to make should not fill anyone with much confidence for the current system being over hauled or improved in one dlc. We currently are being drip fed changes. Help us vicarious visions, you’re our only hope.

Having to level weapons to unlock their full potential gave players to actually try each weapon. As it stands, most people will try something for 5 minutes, then put it away forever. They don't really get a feel for it, for how it can be just as good or better than a preferred weapon, how it can add dimensions to a playstyle, or even learn a new playstyle that is just as fun.

By yourself mate

No thanks. Anyone who remembers vanilla D1, remembers that you would have material "circles" that you would run on individual plants to collect materials: • Spinmetal. • Helium Filaments • Spirit Bloom • Relic Iron This took hours. I mean, you could literally watch youtube videos for hours and thousands of upvoted reddit threads on the best routes to take. You could save yourself some time by having the correct Ghost equipped, some weeks you were unlucky. But I would rather spend time shooting aliens in the face, rather than running crop circles. There was also : • Hadronic Essence • Sapphire Wire • Plasteel Plating • Weapon Parts Which were independent between the Class that you were playing at the time. This made it immensely difficult if you were trying to level more than one character of different classes - not to mention Ascendent Shards/Energy specific to Raid weapons/Gear. The system we have now is WAY better IMO and saves people a ton of hassle time. Just put me in the game coach. Now - I don't mind the Masterwork system, I think it's a nice touch. Just picked up my first couple Exotic Catalysts and those take some time to level, but you do it though normal gameplay, running strikes, activities, crucible etc. And it shows if you're particularly attached to a piece of gear. Back in the day it was, "I'm going to get up early in the morning and run crop circles for two hours before work so I can be prepared with upgrades for the raid later tonight" - No thanks. This transitioned into Motes of Light, which was slightly better, because you earned them though gameplay along with XP of your daily bounties. Having everything unlocked when you acquire an item is a welcome change.
-
It became sort of pointless when you just used motes and we all had a million motes. Anybody remember leveling a vanilla exotic? That was like your whole weekend.
-
26% of D1 players fully upgraded at least 1 Legendary weapon. (according to PS trophies) i for one wasn't fond of it. not sure what kind of weapon manufacturer would release a product that wasn't ready to go when obtained & more times than not would have subpar perks that required a ton of time and materials to reach its full (subpar) potential.
-
Nope, I don't miss it. Motes of light made the whole system pointless anyways.
-
Absolutely not. It wasn't meaningful, just annoying.
-
If it didn't cost materials and you just unlock perks as you play, then yes i do.
