Small review of the campaign

My thoughts here focus on the three story missions of warmind. I am disappointed with what I played this week. At no point did I feel threatened by Nokris and Xol. As enemies they are bland. As characters they are empty. What I feel is missing from the expansions is the narrative posing questions to the player. There is no mystery in these stories, just events. My guardian is a background character whose presence is unnecessary in cutscenes. The final boss had no mechanics or strategy. I finished off an all powerful billions years old devil worm with a side arm. Yes Bungie you have made major improvements to the feel and mechanics of a game, but the wonder and myth of a universe has atrophied. The Zavala plot had no lead in that gave validation to his out of the blue loathing of Rasputin. It was boo here I am, bad machine. And that was it. I didn’t make any connection to Anna Brey. I wish I had seen my guardian recognized as the hive bane by Anna. I wish that Xol was unkillable without debuffing him with our light like the oryx fight and Rasputins might being the thing damaging him. I would have loved to see Anna being the one to activate the new warsat system as the weapon used to kill the worm. I would have loved to see more Nokris. Above all I want more stories. More myths. More legends. More questions. That’s why I fell in love with this universe. I would read dreams of alpha lupi and wonder at the poetic metaphor. I would scour for details and clues in weapon text. I would theorize and argue, learn another clue and change the theory. I enjoyed this. Right now I feel like I’m being handed events, making my old pondering a wasted energy. I do not enjoy that.
