1 ReplyEdited by Paladin Maar : 5/9/2018 3:41:52 PMMy Thoughts on the New DLC Storywise (From a Destiny Vet) Greetings Bungo. Haven't written here in a while but I was ready to play Warmind when it dropped yesterday. That said I played through the Campaign missions and I have some thoughts to share about the story. But first things I really have liked so far. Collectibles in the game FINALLY. This is actually exciting for me and I'll be playing and sticking around to explore them all. Happy we can delete items while in our Vault! :D I only played the story and a few adventures so I can't offer a whole lot else for now. And before you read further just know with more I play the game I hope on some of these points there'll be answers. If someone is happy to offer an explanation, by all means. But to my main point on the story. Not bad but some parts of it left me confused and to me it felt a little...rushed. First off. Seems Zavala learned nothing from the Red War. Going back to his ideals of hiding behind walls and not trusting anyone. I understand his concerns with Rasputin but he can't be the only one with reservations. Furthermore. This is supposed to be the Vanguard, yet aside from the beginning of the game, everyone has been keeping secrets from each other and no one has worked together; there is hardly a team spirit in the game amongst the NPCs. Also Zavala first yells at Bray for not being in the City like she was supposed to be. Well first off, she's a Hunter, they're scouts and aren't really City dwellers. Second, if the Light was taken how could she have possibly done anything? I understand he was upset but I suppose he wasn't thinking when he said it. Also. Bray is calling the shots. Yet Zavala is the 'leader' of the Van Guard.I don't see him doing anything, aside from commentary he wasn't helping at all. Furthermore, I think it would be foolish to pit ONE guardian against a WORM GOD. I don't care if that Guardian has done amazing things. It's a bad tactical call. He didn't want Rasputin's help, that's fine. Offer a solution, he's a Commander. And considering we've seen the power of Oryx and Crota and that the Hive have razed thousands of worlds for eons, Zavala seems like an idiot for thinking, we can just stomp in there and kill it one go with no help. Xol seemed a bit too easy to kill as well for an ancient god. Also when our Guardian (I'm guessing) got dragged down into the Deep, there was a huge opportunity there for more game play. It would have been neat to have to crawl our way back trying to shake off worms and thrall clawing at us and I was disappointing to see our Guardian just breaking through the ice. I go hell, Eris got trapped down in Hive tunnels for years, and it's also well known what Hive Wizards do to weak Guardians. I would have liked to have seem more of that in there. Ghost (I call him Spark) was waaay to chill about what happened in that part too. for how protective he is to your Guardian and how close he is; I was expecting him to give Zavala an ear full for that. Heck, even our Guardian could have spoken up. At this point Zavala is making such HUGE choices for us and we're just following without any say so? I didn't like that. I didn't like that feeling of not being in control. Especially when we were worm food. Curious also as to why Nokris is labeled a heretic yet is the Herald of Xol? That part really confused me since there's only one Hive brood there on Mars. Hopefully there are answers in more of the content I have yet to play. Also though that was an epic fight, he seemed a bit underwhelming too. His statue was in the Dreadnought, he is of status to Crota and Oryx--unless (since resurrection was mentioned) he's coming back? And then, I get Rasputin likes Bray but we fry his neural network and he has no qualms about it? Yet we hack him in S.A.B.E.R and he threatens "orbital death from above". That just seemed odd to me. I have more to learn though I'm sure so hopefully that gets shorted out. The Flayers were also a little underwhelming compared to that Trio in D1. But. Those are just my thoughts on the story and some of the issues I had with it. I'm looking forward to finding the boxes and lore pieces (though I'm wondering if we actually get to read those Memory Fragments...) This is, however, an improvement from where the game was before Warfmind and since I was one of the people wanting collectibles to find I feel like I am being listen to (somewhat). I hope the higher ups there at Bungie listen more to the dedicated players of the this game and continue to improve it. Thank you. P.S I am also extremely bugged that Arc Strider does not use their blade while melee. But I've learned to live with it. Not supposed to be punching things like a Titan... (this is purely a personal pet peeve lol)
