Solo end game.

Would it be a good idea for solo players ( as in everyone who wishes to try it ) to run say the nf with A I allies such as zavala and cade an ikora. We always have the super strong guardians in the game yet we only get to fight along side zavala for a few minutes in the first mission. We could pick 2 of these strong guardians as team members to run the nightfall with. Like ourselves they can die and need to be revived and also revive us. Would anyone be interested in this. The nightfall idea was just a suggestion. I am a member of a very active clan. I play with clan members and friends and random who invite me. I also play solo. The vanguard are the elite guardians but do very little in game. It would be fun to fight along side the vanguard or osiris and Anna brea. It would add some fun to the game.   • In the Fall “pay wall dlc” players who cant do Raids or wont go in to the cheaters playground aka Trials, will NEVER get anywhere near max level. Players who are solo or in small groups WILL stand out and be excluded because the light level that REPRESENTS them as a player will all ways for the whole fall “pay wall dlc” show them as a lesser player because its impossible to teach max light level. Bungie is going back to supporting the Elitist mindset and spitting on the vast majority of PVE players. Now players will be in the form of a Lesser player thanks to Bungies fall dlc update.

      It would be nice if there was a bit more solo content only if it didn't take away from any of the co-op stuff. However, that NF idea would be a bit stupid, no? Why would you play a "Solo NF with bots" when you could play with other people? It would be 10x easier as AI in Destiny isn't the greatest and it can glitch out or not even be that helpful.

    • There needs to be more meaningful endgame for solo players. I understand Destiny is a social game built around fireteams, but not everyone enjoy or are comfortable playing with others. It's okay to have Trials, Raids, etc for teams to do at endgame, but there should be some kind of challenging endgame for players who run solo. I think a solo Nightfall variant would be awesome. Tune it specifically for a real solo challenge and give it a unique loot pool. Meaningful solo endgame is something else I got to discuss with some devs at the summit and hopefully something we see more of down the road.

      • So many other bigger MMOs have a solo road for players while keeping the group road as well, but Bungie wants to force group content in hopes that the day will come when they can scrap making story content and focus on one raid and 20 PvP maps and modes.

            • Solo players did speak up loud enough...sooner. Don't be surprised when you don't get a response from bungie. Everyone that mattered to them went to the summit, none of them solo players.

              Something I replied to another thread. While not exclusively solo, the idea caters to both worlds: [spoiler]Personally I would like to see each planet having an additional separate map that is instanced to 1-6 people. Challenge would naturally be higher. Players going there could set the session open or closed so randoms could hop in at any point if there are open sessions. Closed sessions would be invite only. Each would play out as a mini-campaign. You would have your usual map with usual mission markers that would start scenarios you would possibly play in order and each time difficulty would crank up a bit and things could change depending how the players fare. Ideally there could be more than one way to complete the map in order to increase replay value. Titan being my favourite I had this small idea I will probably have to play out as a tactical tabletop RPG instead of Destiny but here it goes: The rig is in need of crucial supplies which can be only found from a far away rig. Players set out on a ship and this is the first mission where players defend the ship and assume different defensive roles. AA guns, depth charges, torpedoes, killing boarders so others can do their tasks, preventing saboteurs. Each time different things would happen in variable order. After that it would turn into Space Hulk(mission design cues from here) and Aliens 2 influenced dark claustrophobia where players desperately seek for what they came for. Narrow corridors and cramped larger areas. Short range combat. Ending could be anything from blowing up the rig, clearing the rig the old fashioned way or just pulling a narrow escape with the things you came for. Before the ending players will fly from one part of the rig to another with the possibility of some airborne combat, explore sunken areas and perhaps evade(or even fight)some gigantic terror from the deep. Find survivors you can choose to rescue or not. Local contained story with variable paths. All action. Sure it would be design heavy but I would sure play it. Allow replay of each unlocked mission. Sprinkle in some optional bosses for extra fun and of course uniquely themed loot to boot.[/spoiler]

              • That's not a bad idea actually, a high level strike playlist with AI partners, not sure Bungie would go for it though.

                I would rather see the AI NPC help on a rotation and would like to see all characters chip in within their relevant zones, it would be cool, less restriction, learning curve, normal modes only but with an addition, bounty hunter for hire from cayde-6 but not himself, an additional AI member if your clan members not on, adds more narrative and dynamic to gameplay and could even maybe use that in prestige, maybe at a cost off glimmer and shards!? Quests could be added or broaden the bounties and evolve the back story through each of the NPC that helps! It’s a cool idea that could also give a three man squad looking for a fourth an option too! Or even a five stack looking for a six but with extra back story narrative! I’m not going to stop thinking about this ha ha it’s a cool idea with many possible avenues and greater depth to the characters!

              • For those using the "it's a multiplayer game" argument. (I'm not saying OP's idea is good or bad, just some food for thought.) 1. Destiny was origanally marketed as having things to do for solo players and in doing so attracted a lot of solo players to the franchise. 2. Bungie has made moves towards better supporting solo players, both in the past and recently, this sort of thing [i]is[/i] on their radar. 3. Just because it's a multiplayer game that doesn't mean it can't support solo play styles.

                    I would love it, and yes regardless of what everyone says it is a solo game... a solo game that allows you to play with other people.....

                      • I just wouldn't mind a solo scaled Nightfall. I love a good hard challenge, but don't have the time or desire to no-life this game to "git gud" enough to always solo what is meant to be a three person activity. Hell, last time I tried to solo the Nightfall (it was Savathun right after the godawful timer was removed), I ran out of power and energy ammo 2/3rds of the way through and literally could not break the Major Knight shields before it ducked behind it's smoke shield thing and regenned everything. I just did not have the ammo/firepower available to advance. I was actually doing quite well for myself up until that point but had to give up there.

                        In my opinion a good idea would be to allow nightfall matchmaking. This is what Bungie should have done to begin with rather than the whole convoluted guided games system. If they initially launch nightfall matchmaking and observe it's progress, they can then use the learnings and apply it toward a launch of a raid matchmaking system. There is absolutely no reason why a lfg site would work for 3+ years and in game matchmaking would be a failure.

                        • I’d love a raid-like rework of lost sectors to occur. Give them puzzles, mechanics, something that takes actual effort. Also just take them off the map, make them actually lost. This would be cool for solo play, at least for me.
