Sorry, must be your connection. I can say this with upmost honesty and full truth. Your connection is the issue, not the game. In my old house, i had amazing internet, and barely ever experienced lag in Crucible or PvE. In my current house, i have crappy internet and i havent seen more lag than i am seeing now. Its horrendous. If you are experiencing lagging players, it most likely is your fault. Dont say you have good internet, because your internet could be fast but not be running correctly. Its you, trust me. P.S. Yes, dedicated servers would help, but, laggers would still exist here and there. However, that doesnt change that your internet is the fault if all you see is lag almost every game. When i had good internet, i barely experienced lag or saw anybody lagging. Very rarely, honestly. Lag doesnt help you win either, it sucks the fun out of the game and makes you lose in gunfights where it doesnt seem to make any sense.

  • Probably not. As i said, P2P can have some issues and so can dedicated, but all in all, you can have good connection with faulty internet. It all depends on packet loss and the host. If you have perfect connection, you’ll rarely see issues in P2P.

  • You just starting to sound like you’re protecting red bar connections now. Unless you can genuinely say you experience no lag, no problems in D2 PvP then you know full well Destiny 2 is the issue.

Lately i have been experiencing lag. Now that i have shotty internet, but before when i had good internet, i rarely matched with lagging players. It did happen here and there, but that is it. Your at-home connection can go a long way when it comes to quality of matchmaking, and having a good 100mb/s connection or better doesnt mean you have good internet. And ive always seen lag here and there, but rarely in D2. Same goes for every single game out there, even with dedicated servers.

  • It doesn't matter if you have a perfect connection if the signal have to travel across the world to reach the end of the P2P connection. It's just physics and the speed of light that limits it. Then you have to take account all the bad routers and switches on the signals way as well.

  • Well you’re lucky. I get matched with laggy players so often it’s infuriating. No problems in other games though and I’m on fibre. As you can see by the comments and popularity of this topic it’s not just me.

  • I didnt say it was only you, im only saying that the better quality of your router (even fiber can degrade slowly and need repairs to be at its best. I have good internet apparently and i still lag. Up/Down speeds arent all that matters in terms of connection.) matters when it comes to seeing lag more often than others. Many people overexaggerate and say wvery match lags, and honestly, if thats true, it has to be their internet. I’m not the only one who says they dont experience lag often (although, my new internet has been showing me plenty of laggy matches. I hate it.) I’m tlaking from experience of good and bad internet. I went from some of the best internet to some crappy internet. I barely lagged back then and now i lag and see lag eerywhere

  • Dude I’ve had bad internet I know bad internet. I’ve finally got fibre and Destiny is the only game I have trouble with. My lines been checked and there’s no issues at all. I’m not lagging, it’s the enemy teams. And yes I’m not saying every match but A LOT.

  • Wrong..... It's the global matchmaking. The lag is real and those that say it isn't are full of it. P2P is trash when trying to connect people globally. If they would implement regional matchmaking then P2P might be bearable, however due to lack of players and global matchmaking the P2P is trash. I can have good games with no lag but today I had at least 15 games with lag. I record the people skipping across the screen and report them for bad connections, however Bungo doesn't care. I am a network engineer by trade and have 200MG Fiber Internet so don't even think for a second it's my connection.

BT Infinity 74mb down 19mb up, I’ve had it checked, I’ve had a different router and the only game I have any issues on is Destiny 2. It’s NOT my internet trust me. Besides there are other posts saying exactly the same thing. This games net code and/or server system is a steaming pile of crap and everyone who has done their due diligence knows full n well that’s the case. I’m sorry if I come across mean, I know you were being forthright but trust me I have checked everything, because I enjoy Destiny PvP and wish it would work right, it just doesn’t and it is not just me having these problems. It may well be that the states don’t have a problem, but the rest of the world see’s D2 PvP as an absolute nightmare of lag infested water.

Your connection stats doesnt mean your internet is good. Not trying to sound like a dick honestly It could be that your router needs a refresh from the Service Providers or something else. In my current house, my ps4 says i have 84mb/s down and 20 up. Somehow though, my internet had been having issues all the time. I’m lagging like crazy and my friends notice it. My old internet was 50mb/s down and 5 down and i had better connection back then. Quality is important however, routers slowly degrade and need looking at here and there

And saying that connection stats mean nothing is just stupid sorry but how can you have good stats if there is a problem it will show evidence in the diagnostics. Dude I build computers I know hardware. It’s not my connection. It’s this shit ass game cos no other does it. In any other game, having a bad connection effects that player only. I just played my last of 6 matches in a row where players don’t die after 6 better devil shots, melt you quicker than vigilance wing and then run off with a tickled shield. It’s not just me our whole team went negative in all these. This game has a bias system involved, without a shadow of a doubt and it’s absolute bull shit. We pay for a game, not a small price, and then this is what we get. A game where accuracy plays no part in your chances. Only whether you can lag enough. I won’t be playing again for some time now, even D1 is a million times less frustrating than this, I’d rather not have a heart attack at 36.

It was and still is but the difference is D1 is fun so it doesn’t bother you as much 😉 plus shots still register better even on laggy players. And if they don’t chances are they’re lagging so hard they can’t shoot you anyway 😂
