I miss machine guns from d1
They were always reliable, and made a cool-ish sound. They were pretty good in pve and pvp, so idk why they were taken out of the game. Either i have missed them completely and they are still in destiny, i haven’t heard the reason behind bungie taking them out of the game, or bungie doesn’t really have a reason. Either way, i still feel kind of nostalgic about them.

I saw a similar post where the guy said “large machine guns”

You want to get an LMG so you can crouch in a corner and 3 shot people. Your trash, and power weapons are the only reason you get kills

Edited by Disciple4Christ4: 4/22/2018 3:30:31 AMWith our Super Good Advice, Bungie should take some Corrective Measures before the troll base and their Thunderlord come here and turn D2 into a Zombie Apocalypse state.

Edited by tesc22: 4/22/2018 12:16:09 PMDo like me. Play destiny 1 Faster guardians, weapons are powerful, 3 supers for each match, pve it’s much more fun...

They removed Machineguns for the sake of PvP balancing, no other reason.
-
The If Materia~ max RPM HMG with Triple Tap and Triple Double... That was really fun to use in both PvP and PvE.
-
I had an Unending Deluge with 3 Stability perks... feelsbadman

Edited by Technohydra: 4/23/2018 4:37:36 PMThey were removed because, compared to the other heavy weapons, they were under-utilized. Compared to the DPS / mutli-kill capability in bursts from rockets. or the rapid linear DPS / OHK capability of snipers, they simply were outclassed in a lot of encounters. Let it be said that the right LMG in the right scenario could be devastating; I have a Silvered Dread that has caused rage-quits, and SGA / Thunderlord was a DPS powerhouse for still targets. I'd like to see them back, but with the utility that ARs are seeing now, they are in a weird place where we don't need them. Back the ARs down a small bit, and give them a comfortable place to rest in the heavy slot, and I think they'd be a really nice re-addition. Edit for clarity: if we want LMGs back, we have to be willing to accept ARs being less capable than they are now. I'm personally fine with that, but not everyone will be. Seriously, -blam!- ARs.

Bring back that Rambo feeling again! Up voted.

Indeed I remember super good advice and being very excited when I would miss bullets on purpose to activate the exotic perk. It was pretty cool even though I didn’t kill anything ~TheGreatNike

Because bungie thinks a sequel should remove 80% of what worked and what was good.
-
Yea. Don't listen to the hateful comments or insults. They should bring it back. Especially, Thunder Lord. Gives more weapon variety, they are SUPPOSE to be in the heavy slot and it adds more flavor to the game and more things to grind for. People tend to complain because they get killed by them a lot. I do too. I don't care. If I do get killed by them, I just have to adjust my play. Overall, I hope they do bring them back.

Machine guns = Folklore!
-
They will bring them back in an update in the future. Stripping down and then Re-selling us content is the current business model.... Love the game - but really don't agree with all the changes they have made, or how they do it...

Awesome we all want this thing to come back. Wonderful. Now the important questions. 1. How do lmgs fit into the current game? This is destiny 2 it is different. Accept it. How do lmgs fit in? 2. how effective were machine guns? Be honest here How frequently were they the go to for optimal boss dps. 3. how do they not break pvp? How can the reintroduction of machine guns not break the pvp game? Yes I get it everyone hates pvp, it doesn't belong blah blah blah. But it ain't going anywhere so accept it. And work around it.

I can confirm that those at the community summit told bungie that they wanted machine guns back. I do not know what said in reply (probably because of the NDA) but I can confirm that much.
-
Used my "Against all Odds" void on my very first Thorn quest as I stupidly only had 1 toon back then and it was a hunter so no void subclass back then. I got all the Crucible done in 2 games of control with a little help from Atheon Epilogue and Predyths Revenge.

THIS game is not prepare for machine guns yet
-
Let this feed die. It is so dumb. ARs took over machine guns. There is no reason to bring them back

I can remember wrecking people in PvP with Thunderlord or Nemesis Star. Those were the days........
-
A possible reason is because with normal auto rifles being as powerful as they are machine guns would have been redundant to our loadouts. Going from that PoV they would just be unnecessary bloat with no real reason to exist therefore why take the time to design and implement them.

A bit embarrassing, but it didnt really click for me that destiny 2 dropped heavy machine guns. Like, how did i not notice until hitting lvl 20 right? I. Just said to myself "wonder if thunderlord is in this... Wait a minute... I havnt found a single machine gun yet.... OH YOU MOTHER -blam!-ERS." Did they under-perform in a way? Was there an actual reason to remove them? I cant think of any ways that they would disrupt or not fit in to the gameplay? Just chalk it up to another design flaw i guess...
