Three man Raids with...

raid layers introduced into the strike playlist. Yeah, six man raids are a blast, but I really think raids based on a 3 man team would give more players a chance to participate in the endgame content. Having the layers in the strike playlist would give everyone the chance to learn what they need to do once they get to run the raid. Don't have to give all the secrets away but just to get familiar with the area's would help alot for the average players that want to play the endgame content. Not asking for easy or give me's or even matchmaking but just looking for away more of the average players can experience the endgame content and rewards. Edit: This idea is for all future content. It is none other than an attempt to keep the solo players and smaller clans interested in logging in and playing through the life of a dlc and helps give them the chance to reach top light level.

  • Typically, end game content usually requires more players! I think what you really mean is, there isn’t much to do in Destiny 2 and with it being second in the series, you would expect more to do, not less!!!

      • Bingo.. D2 desperately needs more end game other than a 6 man raid or Trials. Change Lost Sector's into 3 man raids with some simplistic mechanics similar to Public events.. add a boss or two.. Reward with Lost Sector gear.. hours of replayability.

        • Like House of Wolves with 3 man parties? That sorta failed because the community didnt think they were "real" raids.

          • People have been doing 3 man raids long before you decide to make a playlist for it? Why can’t you?

            • You can't get a raid done with 3 people. It's 4 man, 4 is the magic number. 4 score and 7 years ago 4 people raided Pennsylvania. 4's the key number here. Think about it. 4 doors down. 4, man, that's the number. 4 chipmunks twirlin' on a branch, eatin' lots of sunflowers on my uncle's ranch. You know that old children's tale from the sea. It's like you're dreamin' about Gorgonzola cheese when it's clearly Brie time, baby. Step into my office.

It would take a skilled hand implement this properly. This is a gnarly idea, the raid instances in leviathan and argos are not like the strikes. In strikes you follow a pathway, fighting to get past a few doors, and then face a big main boss. -ROYAL GARDENS; i could see a 3 man dog run in the full size garden: one guy does crystal, and the other two run for the flowers. It would work only have 3 dogs max to attack after getting the multipliers/flowers. No stupid revive coins plz i hate repeating everything because a timer when we should have survived... -GAUNTLET would be easy to do 3 man. Just have one orb spawn instead of both. there would still be a runner, shooter, and projection hitter. the two outside the ring would just have to stand on the plate to make the symbol appear and then shoot the correct target(s) the runner calls for. On the final run just make 3 orbs appear at every other wall and give a slightly longer timer(more forgiving timer to get to the orbs). This way they will be practicing how to play gauntlet and could easily hop in the raid without the hassle. After the final run have a big boss to make it more strikey. -Since gauntlet is not a simple task there should be directions on the right side of the screen when you pull out the ghost. It would not be useful to have a full paragraph describing how to do gauntlet. Instead have tasks like" kill all the enemys". after the enemys are gone have nav points appear for everyone so they know where to go and have a task appear like "get on the plate and get ready to shoot at the target the runner says..." And for the hitter guy have his task read sonething like "shoot the target and then hit the projection that appears below the targets." After one target/wall is done have a nav point appear at the next plate/target area where you should go to... -ROYAL POOLS same thing, nav points lead each player to their plate. Have text appear that says "hop on your plates at the same time to start encounter" when the encounter starts have the middle guy get a nav point that leads him to his friends plate. When two people are on the plate, have the guy with the lowest ionic charge get a nav point for the middle orb. when he grabs that orb, make another navpoint appear that goes to the bottom plate. And so on and so forth. Have a text appear maybe that says "stay on plates for as long as possible to raise/unshield calus's lanterns, but stay alive #1 goal". After the lantern is uncovered and destroyed have a mini boss come out so it is more strikey. - CALLUS; that's almost too easy. In the shadow realm have text appear that Says "call out the symbol you see." For the throne room guys have a text appear that says "punch the Scion that is NOT called out". If two people stay in the shadow Realm make two Scions spawn for them, but only have 1 projection spawn so they can easily complete this tough coordination based task. If two guys stay in the throne, have three scion bubbles appear, so they can hit the one missing one. SUMMARY -This should help anyone learn the raid. Asking 6 people to be patient is tough and it falls apart if one guy is new usually. I have personally led more raids because the community needed help to learn so they could have fun. There's usually two types of people in the raid; the beginner guys. and then theres the super hardcore in the raid that's it. I've met plenty of people that have been turned off by the toxicness they recieved for being new. I like to help people and more of my clears were Sherpas then anything else because there is not a good teaching method theres infact none at all. I helped 3 brand new guys at dogs and we 4 manned it, thats a sherpa not carrying one guy, id teach and take time to help them new guys learn just like i did. I also have speed runs near the world record and used to run with a pack of guys whos ranks were triple digit so i know every which way to play this raid and how to help people pass it. I don't have a twitch but this point I wish I did because this forum is the only way i see to get ahold of bungie. And I used to play against the Developers on halo 2 good times when people cared that much about their work they lived and breathed it. - I don't have a degree but I have experience leading raids and analyzing problems i also took CAD and can draw in 3d on other programs too.. I used to play lots of Starcraft on custom maps with lots of "encounters" and trigger points( equivalent to a raid). I used to mod Halo 1 and make raid/strike like events. Ive had school friends in top 100 of mlg from halo 2 tournament days... I want more people to have fun on this it means a lot to me... D2 feels like halo's engine. Like a mix of halo 1 and 2, the good parts (halo 1's running speed and pistol and grenade throw, halo 2's battle rifle mania, shorter range shotgun, and ai toughness). and and to me d1 and d2 are halos successor in spirit so plz help implement this because i care about bungie games, who else would put in this much effort to help the game. i doubt anyone wrote out a guide at bungie so here you go its free! Nav points and little hint systems on the right did wonders for years in custom games of all kinds.

                    • If 6 players are required for a raid, then 3 players are required for a Pillage. if its Smaller than a Raid can you call it a Pillage? 3 Team Pillages - Pillage them like Ragnarok is Upon you. have non consensual vex with some of the Locals, then kill them and take their shit. sounds about right to me.

                        • There have been some other posts like this, one of them about a solo raid that Cosmo responded to.
I love the idea. This isn't the first time someone has brought it up. Obviously, it can't be fully like a Raid that requires multiple mechanics to be performed at the same time. But I will absolutely pass along feedback about possibly adding difficult activities with interesting mechanics like Raids that are still possible to do solo. Thanks for sharing.
And I think that is what they need to do, add different activities that are raid like but not from the raid. Kind of tired of recycled content to be honest, and there is really nothing in the raid I would want to run with a 3 man team. But if they could come up with a activity that is built around 3 man mechanics that is more than a strike I would be for it.

                        • Agree, all they need to do is have something for all strikes and raids is that how ever many people are in your fireteam it will have a different difficulties for different fireteam sizes

                        • Totally agree, giving everyone the chance to learn raid layout and mechanics. A variation for a 3 person team could give solo players a chance to experience a new dynamic

                        • I don't think they should place the raid lairs into the strike playlist, you aren't looking at all the encounters properly. The vast majority of them requires at least 4 players to accomplish the tasks. How are you going to do Argos bombs and control adds in a fast enough manner? How are you going to DPS these bosses when they are scaled to 6 players? Answer for the vast majority of players, you won't/ You are forgetting the DPS checks. Now instead what they should do is consider something akin to what FFXIV does to teach players the basics of raid encounters. In FFXIV there things called Trials and Extreme Trials. Now this isn't anywhere close to Trials of the Nine. It is an instanced fight with one raid-like boss with its own mechanics, DPS checks, add control, etc. The thing is the boss is scaled much less punishing with deaths than what raid bosses are. You can usually afford 3 deaths or so in a standard Trials boss at minimum gear requirements, while raid bosses can only allow one death.
