Actually, it's worse than this. In D1, one console was host and they had all the IP Addresses so they could send and receive to everyone in the game. That means the host could DOS you or everyone in the game, but no one else knew your IP Address. In D2, Bungie went pure Peer to Peer, so everyone shares data with everyone else. That means in 6v6, 11 people have your IP address and not only can any of your 6 opponents do a DOS against you, a griefing "Team Mate" (term used loosely) can do that too. With host servers, no one can get your IP address and DOS or other IP Exploits.

Yeah it’s such a ridiculously stupid system for this day and age. It’s medieval in tech terms, especially with all the security regulations these days. Oh and it’s DDOS by the way. Distributed Denial Of Service 🙂
