Faction Rallies = Returning Exotics
So I had a thought in the boredom that has become my days lately. What if Faction Rallies were used as a vessel for bringing out old D1 Exotics?
As seen from the previous Faction Rallies from Season 2, Factions have become nothing more than about fashion. The weapons are generally boring so it's all about the Shaders and the sweet sweet Ornaments. The rewards are lacking, severely lacking. So let's change that.
Each Faction would put forth an old school Exotic, all comparable to each other and let the community vote with their actions what weapons get brought back. The winning Factions prize would be the only one added to the loot pool. The other 2 get cycled back into the pool for a later Rally.
Let's pretend for the inaugural Faction Rally that New Monarchy had Hawkmoon, FWC had The Last Word, and Dead Orbit had Thorn. Suddenly we have a reason to dive back in, Faction Rallies have weight. Spamming each Faction because you'll get the reward no matter what can still be a thing, but if you really want Thorn, you're going to grind for it. If you don't, who knows when it'll be put forth in a Rally again.
Next month it might be Bad Juju, Red Death, and SUROS Regime. If a Faction still continues to dominate, Bungie could effectively rig the Rallies by putting more desirable Exotics in the hands of Future War Cult.

4 RepliesOORRRRRRR, why not creat faction specific exotics, like a class item and a weapon.

Only issue would be that people would be forced to join a certain faction to get the best exotics so it would be less of a competition and more of a case of HAVING to be with FWC this month for the Gally, then with DO the next month for the no land etc. etc. The winner could be called at the start of the rally simply by which exotic they were offering. Anyone who played D1 can sort the exotics in order of usefulness without batting an eyelid and that would be the order you would join factions. Example. If FWC had Gally, DO had Truth and NM had Dragons breath. FWC would be the winner that month. NM may get a few votes and a few stragglers would head for Truth but, 80 to 90% would get the gally because of wolfpack, grenades and horseshoes, two rockets, quick reload and agressive tracking (not truth level but, you can literally lock on, quickly swing up to the sky and fire before lock on breaks and that rocket will arc to it's target and come down like a mean death from above!). This would make the exercise pointless. Bungie could simply give the best exotic to whichever faction they wanted to win that month.

1 ReplyCool idea but I’d say not with fan favorite exotics. It could stretch some of these weapons’ release way farther than they need. Also, what would happen to the losers exotics? Would they go in the pool for next time or just get added to the exotic loot pool?

The seasons/eververse/expansions poster posted a while back stated seasons will provide seasonal events and Endgame Activities. Curious on that. Paid content: Straight up DLC. Usually where all the PVE content comes from. I wonder what faction rallies will end up being like. I would love a crucible style, maybe a 3v3v3, being teamed up with other faction members?

The results would be excellent for big groups of faction members but absolutly disgusting for the two other faction-members. Imagine, the New Monarchy has, for example, universal remote (as a secondary/primary exo-weapon) and the Dead Orbit and FwC have both less interesting exotics than UR. This would lead automatical to a higher New Monarchy population and this also leads to less lvl up packages at the two other factions which results in more people being disappointed, because their hopes of an exclusive exotic gun get destroyed by the "automatic crowd control" of the leading faction (in that case) New Monarchy. Would you want to grind for an exotic just to get punched in your face with the Information, that you didn't get the gun? I wouldn't like that... I would rather suggesst, that we go back to Level caps with quest steps for an exotic gun... For example: Quest Line for Last Word (FwC) [quote]- 10 packages: Quest drop and first quest step (for example: get 50 kills with a HC in a single strike/Adventure etc.) - 25 packages: quest step 2 drops (for example: dismantle 5 legendary HC for the basic frames). -50 packages: quest step 3 drops (for example: Reach 100 enemy guardians kills or assists with a HC in the crucible). -75 packages: quest step 4 drops (for example: Go to Xûr and buy a specific weapon part for 100 legendary shards). - 100 packages: final quest step drops (for example: Finish a strike with a HC equipped while you are in a team of guardians which follow the same faction as you). [/quote] You see, besides my examples, this quest system would fit more to the spend time and also to the time you have in a week. You can finish the entire questline within 2-3 days if you grind hard enough or in the entire faction rally week if you haven't so much time for gaming. Besides that, the amout of upset people would be lower than if you grind for a gun just to don't get the gun at the end.

If this came true. I wouldn’t know which character to run most with what faction! 🤘😳 That said, until D2 is fixed in full, this can NOT happen. Every gun you mentioned would be horribly watered down in the game’s current, 2 or less perks, state. I do NOT need to see Last Word or Thorn looking like Better Devils’ weird octagonal shape (cause let’s be real, pretty much everything right now is a reskin) and missing half the perks that made them good. That would kinda break my heart to see. 😢

Good idea. It's probably better that they bring the old exotics back. You know, since 7 months after release, they are still working on the ones they made for the sequel because they are generally terrible.

Yes! Factions need exotics! This would work with special faction skins too. D1 exotic class items were nothing to really jump up about either.
