Were you here during the era of The Flood forum?

During the transition period between the Halo Era and Destiny Era, there was an update to Bungie.net called "Bungie.next" that completely split the old bungie.net (AKA halo.bungie.net /Bungie.old) with a new version of Bungie.net (AKA Bungie.twitter/ Bungie.blind/ Bungie.next). This update also rebranded The Flood Forum as the OffTopic forum. In my opinion, the Bungie.next update ruined the sense of community we had on this website-especially in the community forum, in private groups, and also in The Flood forum. There are a lot of reasons I feel this way, and I think most of the older members on Bungie.net feel this way too. This place used to have a lot more personality, but the Bungie.next update and the more-recent updates (such as the recent purge and the updates that nearly ruined private groups) have left the Bungie.net community almost unrecognizable to older Bungie.net community members who have been here since the Halo era or even before that. Bungie seems to have forgotten about the Seventh Column. So to keep things short, were you here during the era of The Flood forum? If so, do you have any fond memories of those times? How do you think the current state of Bungie.net community compares to the community before the Bungie.next update? What would you like to see changed? If you weren't here during Bungie.old, how do you think the old forums/old layout compare to the current version of Bungie.net? What do you think could be done to improve the state of Bungie.net and its community?
Moderator edit: This thread has been moved to #Feedback forum so that other Destiny players can weigh in. • I was, but unfortunately I wasn't very active in The Flood. I mostly stuck to private groups and the Reach forum.

The whole "Darkness" era sucked. Bungie.net was never the same during or after it. The new "anti" rules destroyed this site for over a year before they reinstated the ninja's powers. That was a really, really stupid thing to promote back then. "Hey, let's let the people 'self moderate'! It's the greatest idea ever!" Anyone with a a few days on this site would have foreseen the that as an idiotic decision. Then they added links to offsite "social media" outlets that cobbled up the posting utilities. Took them about a year to get rid of that nonsense too. So many "great ideas" that were useless and nonsensical were implemented, only to finally show that they were in fact useless and finally removed. White background.... *cringe* That said, this is the best version of B.net since B.old. Why? It's as close to B.old as we've been in the past 4 1/2 - 5 years.
What do you think could be done to improve the state of Bungie.net and its community?
-Bring back ninjas with attitudes. Not the "play nice" like bad parents who basically ignore their children running a muck, whilst not noticing that they are burning down the neighbor's house. Achilles? Shiska? Butane (pre-Darkness)? Foman and Duardo haven't really changed, they're just way less visible. Reinstate Recon if he'll come back. People who weren't afraid to put in a witty put down with the bans they handed out. -Tell people why they've been banned. No more shadow banning. If you're dumb enough to cross the known lines, you need to be told what you did wrong. You're obviously not bright enough to 'self moderate' yourself. -Bring back more of the actual Bungie employees posting and interacting with this community. Twitter, reddit, whatever other off sites ARE NOT BUNGIE'S HOME TURF. Re-engage US. It's a large portion of what made this place awesome back in the day. -Reinstate the -blam!- filter. Too many think just because they can subvert the text system, they should. There is no point. If you can't post a comment with out resorting to f-in this or referring to women in derogatory terms, intentional racial slurs hidden by misspelling or emojis, you don't deserve to be posting. Besides, the -blam!- filter added to the character of the site. Kind of like the disembodied soul. -Excuse the stolen quote, but "Make B.net Great Again". Those things listed made this place what it was and molded the members here into a community. That's lacking now and why the whole stupid site is so chaotic and angry. Then again, for the most part we all liked the Halo games of the time. The latest games haven't been nearly as endearing. Oh, and; GIVE ME BACK MY BLUE BAR!

    • I was here at the beginning of the Offtopic era. Those were the best times, because all the old Flood users hadn’t left.

In Short, this site has been increasingly going downhill in terms of community, community management, and UI since 2013. First Achronos nukes b.old, the mods loosen up rules and take a 9 month hiatus, and we never got to know if below the radar got fixed in Battlefield 3. Next came the communal split between the old and the new, with Bungie favoring their new human cash crop, and started a cycle of garbage site “updates.” Now we’re left with two almost-decent forums, ludicrously shady and subjective CoC, a broken mobile app, and all sense of what made b.net unique gone.

        • I was not on the forums back then, only joined right after D2 released. Didn't know about the forums in D1. I mean, I knew about the app, I had it to look at my character and all, but didn't know about the forums. In regards to the layout, I really enjoy how the layout of these forums are set up compared to the old ones and most other forum websites. To me, it's easier to navigate and more pleasant to look at and read through.
