How to fix the Random Roll Problem without adding Random Rolls

A big problem for weapons is that when you get one it's already upgraded. I enjoyed unlocking and upgrading a weapon over time, really learning how to use it. One way to fix the random roll problem is to implement weapon customization into the game. Things like magazines, scopes, grips, bipods, lasers, stocks, and barrels for example. These would each be tied to a unique perk and you could select and choose what was on your weapon, choose your own roll in a sense. The perks would drop at different rarities and only work with select types of weapons and percks. For example a magazine with explosive rounds would only work on scout and pulse rifles while drop mag would work on hand cannons and auto rifles. If it was found two perks are too strong together then the code could be added to make the two not compatible with each other or cancel out. The best part each perk could be tuned individually. These modifications would be found in... Lost sectors - (Now puzzle filled one-man mini raids [rare and once in a blue moon, ledgendary]) Patrol - (only rare and uncommon [ultrarare drop]) Public events [regular - uncommon and rare, heroic - rare and ledgendary, flashpoint - legendary and exotic] Strikes [regular - uncommon and rare, heroic - rare and legendary, Nightfall - exotic] Raid and Lair [regular - rare and legendary, Challenge modes - legendary double drop, Prestige - exotic] Crucible [Quickplay and competitive - rare and legendary, Trials - legendary and exotic] These would be random drops on increasing rarity with the increasing rarity of the part. banshee 44 could upgrade to any tire for trading in three and some gunsmith materials. You would have to come to him to add an upgrade to your weapon until you reach the level. You would gain reputation by using test weapons, doing bounties, quests, gaining grimoire, and turning in parts to Banshee 44 along with the current coin system building in the level of experience needed to rank up. Each upgrade or part could only be used after reaching a higher rank with the gunsmith as follows. Level 1 - Turn in gunsmith materials to rise in rank. Level 5 - Test weapons unlock increasing the speed you can rank up. Level 10 - You can now find uncommon parts at a rare chance in locations. Bounties unlock further increasing rank up speed. Adding an uncommon part to a gun unequips the common part from your gun which you can turn in for a high level of reputation with the gunsmith. Level 15 - You can now find rare parts more often and apply scope and barrel upgrades. Level 20 - You can now find legendary parts at a rare chance, increased the chance of finding rare parts, can upgrade rare parts to legendary. Level 25 - legendary parts are more common now (say 2%) suppressors, grips, stocks can now be applied. You can now get legendary weapon quests from Banshee 44. Level 30 - exotic parts can be found now all lower tires have an increased chance of drop, you can upgrade legendary parts to exotic. Hidden quests for exotics weapons class specific and all classes unlock for Banshee. Mag mods can now be applied along with all other weapon mods. Level 35 - You can now upgrade your weapons on your own in the field. Lore hidden story missions unlock giving access to more grimoire and collectibles. Work with Banshee to build a new exotic weapon. This is a rough idea, everything can be tweaked based on feedback and gameplay. Similar systems could be implemented with the other factions, Future War Cult, Dead Orbit, New Monarchy, Amanda Holliday, Osiris, Concordat, The Seven Seraphs, and the Darkness.

  • This is a great idea, it goes into a very long list of other great ideas before it, and just like them it will maybe one day be read by bungie. And then one day even further away bungie may even implement it. Maybe...probably not because content is hard.
