Is it worth going back to complete D1?

Year 1 destiny player who stepped away from the game at the drop of the taken king expansion. Loved the game before I stopped playing. I enjoy destiny 2, but miss several things from the first game. Would it be worth me purchasing all of the DLC just to experience the game in full, even though it's already somewhat obsolete in regards to D2? D2 and D1 both have had their issues and I'm not looking to talk about that. Just curious as to whether or not it would be a worthwhile experience. Thanks! • A resounding "YES"...I still play Destiny on a weekly basis and have NO problem running raids or NF's...The only challenge/difference is real raid vets are few and far between, most raiders now are players whom began playing Destiny in the latter stages...which is shown in the players grimoire...and some of the raiding tactics they use are not the most efficient.

  • If you loved D1 before, you have a chance of still loving it now. There has been a mass return to D1 after so long because of two factors: People new to Destiny because they started on D2 are trying D1; People who started in D1 are returning to D1 becuase they are fed up with D2. Its getting easier and easier to find a raid team by the day. The only problem I've encountered was that you can only use a few different LFG websites since most don't support D1 anymore, including bungie.net to a degree. If you want to play, go for it. Unless you don't have a Xbox One or a PS4, just buy the TTK. If you played on 360 or PS3 and own a One or PS4, buy the Collectors edition. If you started on a One or PS4, you might just be better off buying the DLC straight up. Also as a side note, be prepared for an entirely different meta. As long as your okay with the special ammo changes in the Crucible along with a few weapons majorly tweaked, you should be perfectly fine. Enjoy your heart out with supers that you actually get more than once a game.

I rarely see anyone on my friends list playing D1, but I get an invite from a random nearly every time I visit the tower.

  • Yes, quite worth it. you'll never know what you may find the second, or third time around.... I've made new accounts, and have found two weapons I never had on my main account that are so good I can't believe I never heard of them. They are both Mida archetype scouts (don't know the names off the top of my head), but the green has a red dot / close quarters scope, and the blue has explosive rounds and a truesight scope if I remember right -- they are amazing in crucible and its so funny I've had more fun with these two random drops than anything on D2

    • If you just want the experience of going back and playing those parts of D1....why not? But its not really going to have much impact on your ability to understand and enjoy D2. In fact you may be enjoying D2 because you have less baggage and expectations from D1 that you're carrying around than most people.

      • Look at it this way: You can get the collection for a cheap price but I’d advise you not to. Depending on what you’d do, say a raid or whatever, you’ll have to use the D1 team finder

      • For PvE, sure! For PvP, only if you love One-shot Sticky Grenades, Ice Breakers, Sidearms, and other Garbo stuff killing you constantly!

        • If you're looking to play crucible then be prepared for long wait times, or not finding a game at all! I've tried over the past month but literally only ever got a handful of games when mayhem clash was up.

          • At this point? No. I personally feel as though destiny 1 lost it's charm halfway through year 2 when microstransactions were implemented. And since taken king had the most stuff to do during the time of its release, rise of iron made all that irrelevant. If you have a friend or two who are willing to play with you and you find Destiny the collection for like, $20 then sure. You can still have a bit of fun. But if you're alone, don't bother. But that's just me.

            • I get back to D1 (~month ago) from D2 with my second account. Only got Hunter when i started, now i got titan too and soon im going to warlock. And im having fun :) D2 might be more disappointing after you get back to D1, like kellygreen2 said.
