This is a simple enough message for the kick Cozmo made at the end of TWAB:
While I am absolutely up for any person to pledge to whichever faction they so choose... it is funny that your stated reason for pledging to FWC this time was to help get my primary faction a win...
Fact is, personally speaking, I don't want someone pledging for that reason. It's too close to the "I feel sorry for you" category of reasoning.
As a primary FWC faction rider since D1... I'll explain right now both why I chose FWC in D1 and why that did not change even with the New Monarchy lure since we no longer have a speaker in D2.
D1. Just launched and I was day 1. Wanted to support SOMETHING from the city as it was the first safe haven I came across (obvious plot) and we had five total factions ironically: Vanguard (always pledged as the game allowed), Crucible (always pledged per the game), FWC, DO, and NM.
NM wanted the speaker throne. D2? They have it right now. I personally feel NM should be held, at defensive gunpoint, so the people get to elect a leader OR a speaker arises to assume that role OR any other methodology honestly. Yep. Went there. I agreed with them contesting Speaker authority for the simple reason of a choice. The speaker should never be a monarch either (in Destiny, there is no real authority btw per the Lore) for obvious reasons.
DO. Space in a 100% ground operations game. If D3 features space combat, exploration, etc. in the more diversified manner? Only then will I be considering them EXCEPT for their stated reason: We will survive in space. Even if our supplies run out. We will win by the rule of killing those who choose us to survive.
Human nature purposely stated. Good overall plan to avoid Travelers enemies however as every time it ran? We lost. Good overall logic, bad survival plan.
FWC. D1? I was either FWC... or the vanguard... or the crucible... Two of those I couldn't pledge as they were always active no matter what I did. They simply stated, "We aim to prepare for the war". Well... a lot of FPS players will say, "Ok. That's what we do anyway" and other audiences shy away and simply say, "Yeah. If the shaders are good. Ok." For the record? D1 people I am referencing to BLUNTLY said the best shader was DO's "Revenant". I still to this day disagree.
FWC. D2? The same overall logic for all three factions (in the general sense) and the only really bad thing about FWC is the cult in the name and the Vex prediction machine which has already stated at least some portion of the Earth is no more, and the phrase "the war is elsewhere. Let's go find it." which means D3 is going to have a fun and interesting timeline if my guardians (one of each) is not involved on earth.
So. 3 factions for D2 Faction Rally (what we asked for mind you fellow D1 people out there). Personally speaking again? I'll disregard FWC's issues as opposed to two political factions and another saying we should do the stupid logistical planning and simply run with our lives.
To be honest? Based on all of those? I'd HONESTLY rather be dead, on earth, then survive by any of their logic.
So... my message to everyone who read all of this is two things: Choose based on your own choice (obviously) and Cozmo? Don't ever even imply that FWC needs a handout. We're the only one's who actually are going to win this ongoing war.

Okay I'll be honest, in D1 I was Dead orbit because I loved their shaders lmao When d2 came around I decided this time ima pledge to whoever I agree with most, that being future war cult, why wait for the enemy to come to us when we can just push back and get them first ya know?

I've always been FWC but I have everything now and so many doubles in the vault. Going for DO for a change just to see what the shaders are like

Who cares? Most players have three characters and pledge to all the factions. Then they collect the prize even if they don't even run a single Lost Sector or even touch D2 for that matter. That's the sad state of this game, you don't even have to play it to get rewards, even raid gear. -
I also didn't like that statement. Not because as you said, it was just sympathy for the one who hasn't won. But it shows those at Bungie don't care about lore reasons for the factions either. They just go after the best loot, and assume this is what we all do.

3 RepliesUmm.... look people choose a faction based on what gear they can get. If FWC rewarded you with a vision of confluence type scout rifle or fatebringer type hand canon whilst DO and NM offered grenade launchers FWC would win the faction rally in a heart beat. NM armour was the coolest with the ornaments (although FWC is sexy as) and they offered decent guns so NM cleaned up. I'm pretty sure this rally will have a new winner as everyone already has the armour and ornaments for NM and nobody wants another grenade launcher. There's very few players join a faction cos of their back story. Sorry about it.

I know beyond a shadow of doubt that I will 100% be guaranteed to be with the winning faction at the end of the rally.
Don't ever even imply that FWC needs a handout. We're the only one's who actually are going to win this ongoing war.
Funny, you're the only ones who haven't. Good luck, though.
No, I'm not being sarcastic. Only saying this because it's hard to tell over text.
Been FWC since D1 because they've always had the most interesting lore IMO. Even though they're secretive and very cryptic, their overall philosophy of "be prepared for anything" is the most pragmatic of the 3. It Doesn't seem as simple as we have to protect earth at all costs or we need to gtfo.

Totally well thought out. In D1 I was DO all the way but D2 I have swapped around because of shaders. That aside, I totally agree about the pitty win and after Cosmo stated that ( nothing against him or what he was trying to do) I was like "I'm pleding DO for all three characters and I'm gonna grind so much so they don't win." (Friendly competition) That aside, I like dead orbit because I'm a space cowboy and one solar system isn't enough for me. They talk about picking up and heading out and I like that. I wanna explore even more worlds. (Note: I doubt we will ever leave because I don't see Bungie doing that but DO would be my ticket out. I could leave and never have to see Tess again.)

Can you not simply choose a different faction on each toon?

Edited by MS18EKampferMG: 3/17/2018 6:42:34 AMBeen loyal to New Monarchy since I started in D1. I just kinda liked the overall look of the Justicar gear and the shaders. After I found that the clan I joined all were also joined up to NM we would kinda just sit there next to that fire pit behind Hideo, most times right after we were done with a VoG or Nightfall run, just talking, taking a joking jab at each other and looking forward to whatever updates that were to come. ‘Course, that’s all over now, but I just like NM because of how things were in D1. Not because of the silly lore and faction differences. Still NM, always will be NM. But to each their own
unless you’re DO. Stop applying your foundation and go out and get some sun, ya hippies.
Ill be joining new monarchy on hunter, and dead orbit with my titan. Why? For the shaders of course. Fwc simply has nothing i want. I dont have room for three new shaders, wouldnt use them if i did, all the victor rewards look like @$$ and theres no weapons in the lootpool worth grinding for i dont already have. The second fwc has a victor weapon worth having they will win. Until then they are SOL

New monarchy forward.
