Destiny 2 feels like illegal unlicensed Chinese Destiny rip off
When I got Destiny I had to stop myself in the campaign so I wouldn't blow through it in one day. The next day I finished the campaign and started a new character. When I got D2 I was excited but cautiously optimistic. I played for about four hours and then didn't play again for about ten days. It wasn't just the fact that D2 didn't even just give us more of the same, in a weird way it gave us less of the same. It wasn't the way that every single system was homogenized and simplified to make the dev's jobs easier. It wasn't the apalling presence of Eververse and the preponderance of rng worsening. There was just this almost intangible indescribable way that every single thing just didn't quite feel right. It was the chalky colors and the lack of the color black, the ugly weapon skins, the ugly weapons themselves, the hideous exotics like doomfang pauldrons, etc, etc, etc. Everything in this game looks like someone tried to copy Destiny without actually having access to the code, assets, or an understanding of why things were the way they were. D2 just feels like the Chinese Destiny knock-off. It's Drestiny.

7 RepliesYou can still do your part not only for yourself, but for the gaming community as a whole. Don't give these people any more money. You, dear gamer, deserve better than this and there's a myriad of other developers who deserve your business and won't shit in your hands, turn around and charge you 60 dollars for it. If Bungie, a AAA development studio, is allowed to bamboozle woppy flop their entire fanbase without crippling backlash and accountability, others will do the same eventually.

1 ReplyIt was a new game, and a sequel will always feel different from its predecessor. I'm sure certain changes in D2 helped contribute to why D2 didn't feel quite right for you. I think the lighting and colors in D2(maybe the settings as well)were too different what we expected, because D1 spoiled us with its dull, dark, and gritty atmosphere that D2 just didn't have.

Reminder that Luke Smith leeched off of the Live Teams ability to save Destiny 1 as an excuse to cut corners and make a half finished dumpster fire called Destiny 2.

1 ReplyYeah, D1 is like a Ferrari, and D2 is like a Yugo. Bungie's fatal mistake was building D2 around PvP balance. Essentially neutering everything fun about Destiny. The sad thing is that PvP ending up being so terrible that every Destiny streamer moved on to Fortnite lol.

Wow....you nailed it. This game a knock off, and its by design; functioning as intended. They pumped D2 out so they could move onto D3 for contractual obligation purposes. This is all smoke and mirrors. It doesn't matter that the community is talking about the nuances of the game and its shortcomings. All that is important to Bungie right now is that we buy into D3 "Drestiny Unfolded" coming to a gamestop near you.

Maybe Bungie find it SO hard to be a game developer and actually develop game content that they outsourced it! 😆 I mean they keep saying “we’re listening” and then announce that no hud “spooky Trials” is coming back. WTF?! The majority didn’t even like that... so, who the hell are they listening to??!! It’s like we’ve been talking to a really F-ing thick brick wall for 3+ years! I’m glad you mentioned the chalky colours, I’ve always thought that. It’s so flat and dull compared to D1. Even the ornaments. Where’s the D1 cyber punk look gone? And how many times can you re-skin a weapon... no seriously, that was probably a Bungie office competition or something . This isn’t Destiny anymore. How can it honestly wear a number 2... Destiny Attempt 2 more like!!

I agree. It feels like the knockoff Transformers you could get at Biglots for 3.00 each, they looked authentic as they were copies but they didn't transform. Destiny's that way: it looks right but is missing what made it work.

Ahh I see the forums are becoming more woke, only took half a year since the beta and for those 3rd eye players out there a few years even before that. This was always the trajectory the community would head in when a studio is so lacking in how to interact with its base for the betterment of the game.

yeah I get this. the other one that I keep thinking of is when a few years back a Star Wars fan gets his mate who's never watched the films to describe the Star Wars story. she kinda knows the basics but keeps getting all the details wrong or in the wrong order. again, D2 is kinda like that except that, obviously, that was really funny where as no one's laughing about D2...
